Rare 1 0f 47 1984 Buick Riviera Conv Turbocharged 3.8

When Chris (owner of 74 Buick Conv) posted this car to a group on facebook I was surprised. Had no idea they even made these. They took 2 door coupes, shipped them to a coach builder, and the transformation was made to convertibles. With only 47 produced in 84 and around 50 in 85, less than 100 total were built. It is a 'hot air' turbo 3.8L buick engine mated to a 325 4L transaxle. Not only does it have the Turbo badging and steering wheel, it also has the aluminum bumper reinforcements! When Chris first contacted me about doing work for him, we discussed his beautiful 77 Lincoln, then he decided to break the ice by sending this car first to sort out. It needed a lot of work; parts are scarce if even available. He ended up obtaining a parts car to remove the dash from to be able to fix all the touchscreen climate system and the front bumper. between the climate system, welding together the driver side exhaust manifold, fixing boost leaks, making a heater control valve, fixing trans TCC issue, on and on and on.......many many cuss words later, awesome to be 'blessed' with bringing this rare piece back to its former glory!

Really enjoyed video! Can only imagine the uphill battle to get that rare beauty to where it is now. Congrats, pretty sure whatever future projects you put on video. Many of us who like grass roots restos' on American classic luxury cars will be sure to check it out.

You're close. Production is 47 in 84, 49 in 85. I have one of each year.

Yeah its only based on the Toronto and the Eldorado which were both front wheel drive
