- Worst Defensive Inning in Baseball HISTORY! Mariners at Angels August 15, 22 9th Inning
The Mariners and Angels went into the 9th inning tied at 2 a piece in Mondays game. The Mariners would come out of the Inning scoring 4 runs with only two hits. This has got to be one of the worst innings a team has ever had in terms of mistakes. From incorrect counts to defensive miscues to a check swing HBP to end the game, this game will end up on MLB Highlight Reels and MLB Blooper Reels alike! The 2022 Seattle Mariners are vying for a playoff spot and the 2022 Los Angeles Angels gave them a helping hand.
Carlos Santana straight up played some Jedi mind tricks to work that pinch-hit walk. Then D-Mo's pinch running was just too powerful. Distracting the rundown, knocking the pass incomplete at the plate.
So So so good!!
Even I was confused and went "When did Dylan get on base?" Then I realized he pinch run.
Forreal Yumi 😅😅
Santana is huge for us!
He's been an amazing mentor for the young guys!!
I thought the 13 inning against the Yankees was crazy here they go giving us another show.
CHAOS
😂😂😂
those 13 innings was actually great interesting baseball. It could have lasted 19 innings and I'd have loved it.
One of the biggest 🤢 chokes I've ever seen. We did'nt have to take their lunch money. They just went ahead and gave it to us. Go M's!!
Angels are gonna take this series 2-1 then y'all playoff spot later
@@flelite3994 HAHAHAHA you sound so ridiculous. You watch that 9th inning last night? I think theres better defense currently going on in the Little League World Series. Ya'll are a joke of an organization and Phil Nevin is a disgrace to baseball.
If the Angels make the playoffs and the Mariners don't, I will buy a Phil Nevin jersey and wear it to TMobile park next year 🤣🤣🤣
@@MarinerMojoOfficial *Bet!!!*
@@flelite3994 Hard to make it to playoffs when you play defense like that.
YOU may think Loop almost caught that ball bare-handed; I think he almost lost the use of that hand for the rest of the season. The launch speed was 108 mph.
Craig, could you imagine it did hit his hand 😅😅😅 I'm convinced his whole arm woulda spontaneously combusted
@@MarinerMojoOfficial Maybe not the whole arm, but at least as far as the elbow.
Poor guy woulda had it amputated🤣
Same thought, thank God he didn't catch it.
Catching liners with my meat hand was a bad habit of mine. It's why my throwing hand looks so funny. It still sort of worked. But I don't recommend doing it ever.
Nice breakdown man! Hoping this is a sign of a turnaround for Wink and he can really help this team down the stretch.
They could really use a full strength Winker right about now!
You took the words out of my reply! A great breakdown.😎
I've seen the Mariners be on the losing side of something like this a million times. This year feels special.
We need this for sure!!
fantastic video! very jomboy-esque quality in terms of entertainment and breakdown - that's about the highest praise i can give. hilarious video to go with a hilarious inning; keep up the good work my dude.
Wow Empire, that means the absolute world 😱😱😱😱 the kind words don't go unnoticed my friend, truly!
ESPN2 quality.
I appreciate that!
@@MarinerMojoOfficial fine. You got my sub. I watched a few videos of yours today. Keep up the good work.
@pigGRAY thanks man! I appreciate the kind words! I hope, if nothing else, our videos can continue to entertain you!
And then we wonder how the Angels manage to fail to be in Wild Card contention despite having both Ohtani and Trout at the beginning of the year
Crazy with players like Trout, Ohtani, Rendon, etc they've struggled
team sport***
Angels are two good pitchers short of actually being good. They rarely play this bad.
truly sometimes it is better to be lucky then good. it's rare that the mariners get lucky like this, and even though Ty France and julio went 0/5 it's nice to see them making an impact. love the breakdown!
Thank you Nathaniel! Luck was definitely on the Mariners side!
The Seattle Mariners, masters of Chaos Ball.
But for real though, the M's are dramatically more than the sum of their parts.
It's a team game and they play amazing together. It's not one single guy each night
Thank you for the play by play explanation!🙌🏽⚾️ I love it and I just subscribed! Go Mariners!!!⚾️🫶🏽
Thanks for the sub! Go Mariners!!!
I turned the game on right when Julio got to the plate. So glad I did
Easily one of the craziest innings ever!
What a amazing pick for the DR.
"Because he sucks!" Best line ever.
I will never forget this 9th inn never ever ever …lol and nice break down video your really good at them you should do more old and new game highlights brake down…keep up the good work
I appreciate it deeboi!!!
The Lou Pinella voodoo magic always appears when you least expect it.
Loudoo if you will 🤣🤣
Can you imagine if they awarded Adell first base? Thanks for sharing. What a crazy 9th. Can't believe the Angels fielding or lack thereof. Of course as a Pirates fan, I can relate. Like the Mariners too. Hope you make the postseason
I appreciate it Tim! You guys have a bright future in PIT!
This was certainly a crazy inning. But I don't think it tops the 7th inning of Game 5 of the 2015 ALDS between the Blue Jays and Rangers for sheer insanity.
So true and on the main stage like that 😅
Thank you very much for posting.
Live 30 miles south of Seattle but wasn't watching game live
Only way I figured I could get this inning was to read newspaper in a couple days
All sports ending after 5p means a day delay in print
GREAT JOB BY YOU
Kraig thank you so much!!! It sure was a crazy one!
The fact that they have wasted trouts career and the beginning of Ohtanis should be criminal
😅😅😅
No one forced Trout to sign longterm with the Angels. And if Ohtani is smart, he'll sign elsewhere next season.
If you’re the pitcher, you can’t be a spectator. The catcher should have just run it all the way back to third. I get why the 2B came home.
I agree! Once he fell it was game over
This inning is the definition of the angels. You thought hitting seven tanks against the worst team in baseball and still losing was bad, but that was just the clown; this shit is the whole circus.
RIP 🤣🤣
That was fun to watch; chaos ball! Go Ms!
Pure Chaos Ball AJ!!
Man, umpires have done a seriously awful job this year all around the league. not that long ago they gave Yordan Alvarez an extra pitch bc they forgot the count and just like the Santana AB, no one noticed except for the radio crews.
Yeah its on the umpires but the Angels needed to be on top of it too
The worst defense is having Aaron Loup as your closer
Actually so true 🤣
Every time the Mariners perform their dance, it's like casting magic for the next game to ensure more chaos.
Chaos mode: ACTIVATED
If this half inning would have been executed by the Pittsburgh Pirates instead of the Angels, I would not have been surprised. I think something similar did happen earlier in the season by the Pirates with similar results.
I think the Pirates are the ones that got Javy Baez in a pickle between first and home last year
That victory dance is probably the corniest thing I have ever seen
The victory dance is fantastic!
Nice breakdown! New sub! I hope this don't get pulled! Go Mariners!
I appreciate it a ton Sam! Go Mariners!
Kind of reminded me of some slow pitch softball games I have been in.
😂😂😂😂😂
good breakdown, subbed 👍🏻
Thank you so much Jiwow+!!
The quality of play in the major leagues has fallen apart in the last few years. Very, very poor.
We will see what happens when the shift is banned next year
😂😂😂 loved your commentary I loved it cuz I'm a Mariners fan!!! Go Mariners!!!
Appreciate it!!
The Julio liner is an example of what speed does on a play. The second baseman probably can't beat Julio to first so he has to try for home. Haggerty is so fast that people were scrambling and may have contributed to Loup falling. Moore was running fast and hard that left the play at third out of place. We go to extras of that's Santana, France and Raleigh on the bases.
That's what speed do 😎
This year is a strange year for the Mariners. There's another game with Yankees' base running mediocre. Can't wait to see if there will be more absolute mediocre in the Mariners' playoffs games.
Who knows what's next! 👀
Great breakdown, only thing I can suggest is a better mic, some parts can get very loud and it isn't very clear. Other than that, good video.
I appreciate the kind words Zonked! I'm not sure why it kept peaking so bad, I'll see what I can do!
This had me laughing so hard when I slammed Seattle ML. A guy in the background just kept saying "Cmon LOUPEEEEEE." on the MLB stream.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wow this game is filled with rare moments you never see in baseball games.
Something new every day!!
Mariners used Persuade on Umpire
It's super effective!
remember when the Mariners committed 5 errors in one inning in 2017?
I think that's a repressed memory at this point for me
@@MarinerMojoOfficial I couldn't believe I was watching professional baseball when I saw that. Literally had to check and see if it was some sort of joke or satire thing.
The situational awareness by the Angels was awful that inning. The Stassi throwing error was the least embarrassing defensive mishap of that half inning.
Yeah some of the worst I've seen tbh
Man I don't watch a lot of baseball, nor could I ever try and say I'm an expert. But that was one of the craziest 1 and 1/2 innings I've ever seen. Angels deserve all the bad luck they're getting.
Forreal Joshua! It had to be painful for Angels fans!
Just subscribed. Im over here in Youngstown ohio but i can tell your channel will pop off soon!!
Bro thank you so much!
As bad as this was I will still put the bottom seventh, game 5, 2015 ALDS, Rangers vs. Blue Jays as a worse defensive collapse. The errors were just as bad and the stakes were much higher.
So true, that's the common thought I've heard from a lot of people. Poor Elvis Andrus man
To answer your question the Phillies against the cubs when Harper hit that walk off grand slam was definitely more crazy than that 9th inning offensively but I'm not sure it tops the angels defensive shitshow that I just witnessed.
Yeah man, I think I'd agree with you there 😅
MLB keeping true to the script.
And to think that this team has one of the best baseball players in mlb history, blows my mind.
Two of them actually 😅
12 minutes of my life I'll never get back.
Youre welcome Bob
@@MarinerMojoOfficial It’s “you’re”
Hi Bob, how are you today?
you must be great at parties
That's what I'm thinking. Bob definitely drinks wine nobody has ever heard of and turns his team at the delinquents drinking beer
This wonderful breakdown earned my sub!! Lifelong Mariners fan and this video was at the top of my feed. 👏💯
Well said.👍
Paul, Ken, I truly appreciate your kind words! The support on this video is insane and the lifelong Mariners fans such as yourself make it all possible. Thank you!
@@MarinerMojoOfficial This channel and this kind of content is, for me, Ken, what makes youtube so cool. So thank you!😎
@@MarinerMojoOfficial like I said, first time seeing your channel and it was close to the top of my feed. So maybe the algorithm gods will shine on you!!
Thank you Paul! This is only video number 3 or 4 since I started using this channel again and I'm blown away!
I would argue that the Redsox's defensive performance in the fifth inning of that awful 28-5 game against the Bluejays was worse than this, but then again, all of these mistakes occurred in the infield, which is extra embarrassing.
This might be the most UNIQUE bad inning we've seen in baseball for a good long while at least.
Unique is a good word for it. Thanks for watching!!
@@MarinerMojoOfficial I'll see your Mariners-Angels ninth inning, and I'll raise you a Rangers-Blue Jays seventh. You know the one I'm talking about...
RIP Elvis Andrus
The scoreboard also had it as 3-1. No one saw the strike call on the 3rd base steal
They actually had it 2-2 and changed it afterwards
I said the same thing as I was watching this game. WTF is going on? Are they throwing the game? Great commentary here. I totally forgot the 2-2/3-1 debacle.
That part was absolutely insane! I appreciate you watching Jim!
Elvis Andrus will always and forever have the worst defensive inning ever
I despise him
Laz Diaz is one of the worst umpires in the history of baseball. Gotta kind of expect such things.
Can't argue that 🤣
He did end the game at the drop of a bat. Err hat.
And the Angels signed Trout for $420+ million dollar contract.
Thats alottaaaa cash
worst defensive inning in baseball history is a stretch considering the Baez play last year.
That's definitely the worst defensive play ever lololol
dude was in pain
and they just started dancin on him lmao
Yeah, I hope Adell is okay but that was FUNNy
It’s pretty simple really. Stupid players + stupid coaches = Angels baseball.
Going IN on em 😅
This sums up the 2022 Angels
😅😅😅😅😅
Has anybody told Jon Bois about the Santana gaslighting?
So glad this happened. Makes me forget about the 3 error inning the Rangers had against Toronto in the playoffs lmao
That was BADDD
Did the shortstop on the second play forget the number of outs?
Good question🤣
Phil Nevin is just a dope. You let them take a free base in a TIE GAME. Proving the Angels don't really care about winning baseball games but cleaning the pockets of their "fans". The angels really want Los Angeles fans but can't so they tank year after year. Worse than pirates by far. Look how the rays, Indians etc win games with no big free agent signings and never a player on trout or ohtanis level
Yeah its really strange. They added Rendon, Thor, etc and still sucked
I’d be so PISSED @ that SS
Didn’t even cover 3B properly
He was 1/4 way down the line off the bag like a little league rookie
Then He makes another little league play by throwing home instead of rolling up 2 and getting out of the inning.
I know that Pitcher was P/O’d❕
SS was the same dipskip that gave that half arss attempt to cover 3B, right ?
If so He’s a MoMo
If not then they’re both MoMo’s
SS and the half arss cover 🤨
😁
Your commentary is hilarious. Keep it up
Hey thanks Anabolic!
The 2022 Angels Dumpster fire
RIP
It was 3-1, not 2-2. Ump never called that second strike. It was called a ball.
He did call the strike. Even the umpire says he called it a strike. You can see his hand go up before the catcher throws down
i had a feeling this was the game
Spot on Cameron 🤣
Home Plate Umpire should have a manual counter in his hand to keep track of the count! Am I wrong?
Nope, you would think 😅😅😅
I feel for the Angels and their fans. There is no motivation, see the body language. They are attached to a losing team with a cheap owner and incompetent GM and you can see it. Please bring in some professional administrative people to straighten the once proud organization.
I think Arte Moreno needs to go
Great video! I see many subs in your future!
Thank you so much Luke!!!
How does the HP ump not call NYC and check the ball and strike count?
He has no reason to unless it's questioned. He truly believed he had it right after the miscommunication
first ive seen of your videos. loved every min. go mariners
Thank you Nicholas! This is only like video number 3!
Nice work. Not as bad as Texas v. Blue Jays infamous 7th… Andrus was next level bad
Yeah that was.... something 🤣🤣
I'm just thankful Arte is selling the Angels. Halo honks finally have hope for the future.
Took him long enough
I can’t even watch the Angels anymore. This is just one of the most embarrassing Angels team since the movie Angels in the outfield
And they have such good players
@@MarinerMojoOfficial they did, but the injuries hurt them. Also there’s something off with the chemistry. I think the owner brings too much toxicity to the team.
This is all on Phil Nevin. What terrible managing. How are you just going to let a hitter change the count and not challenge it?
Yeah I'm not sure what that was about tbh 🤣🤣
Giants Rockies this year is pretty close but I think this takes the cake.
It's crazy!! But good call!
Thank whoever you have to, for not having loup on your team, sorry Anaheim. -from Toronto
I dont think Anaheim is too happy about it 🤣
Well now I understand why the Angels are so bad despite having the 2 best players in baseball 😂 thanks for the explanation
Happy to help! 🤣
This is a whole-team choke job by the Angels. At the very least if you're Nevin you HAVE to challenge that ball-strike count. It might have been an honest mistake by Santana (the call in question was on the stolen base, he was paying attention to Haggerty) but you have to get the umps to review it.
Yeah honestly it was a lapse by everyone. Nevin says he thought the count was wrong but assumed the umpires would get it right. I don't believe he knew the count for a second😅
I can understand why the shortstop didn’t go for the double play and instead came home. The ball wasn’t hit that hard and it was hit to his right. That’s gonna be a close double play. He made a perfect throw except the catcher didn’t hang on. I think his decision making was fine but the play just didn’t work cause of the catcher.
Yeah it truly was an anomaly tbh 😅
This is painful to watch. Little League World Series is more entertaining than watching the Angels play. Not to forget about the homepage umpire screwed up the count. Ugh
Yeah that was all bad
This is the same team with trout and ohtani..sounds about right
😅😅😅
There's a thing called talent, they don't have it! - George Knox
RIP the Angels 🤣🤣
Baseball is viewed as a more individual-driven sport but the Angels did their best to prove otherwise. Zero awareness in the field as to where their teammates were😬
Bro forreal 🤣
win or lose, damn now thats Fn BASEBALL, more please thanks
Mariners Baseball babyyyy!
Ideally they would’ve turned the double play on Julio’s hit, but it would’ve been an RBI single (or error rather) cause Julio was already 3 feet from first base when the second basemen picked the ball up.
So, going for haggerty at home was the right decision all though I don’t think the 2B even knew it
Yeah he was definitely acting on pure adrenaline at that point 🤣
It’s just life these days. This is our society.
Oh
9th inning madness
Absolutely!
worse than the 7th inning between texas and toronto in 2015, game 5? i'll bet elvis andrus would disagree with you.
fun fact, loup was on that jays team too.
Oh my gosh, that's right, Loup was there!!! And true, RIP to Elvis Andrus, he was never quite the same after that 🤣🤣🤣
Bottom of the 7th, 2015 ALDS, Texas Rangers. Worst defensive inning ever.
That one was BAD. Rip Elvis Andus
As an Angels fan, the sadness continues.
Sorry bro :( At least you get to watch Ohtani and Trout on an almost daily basis!
That was terrible fundamentals from the Angels. It's no wonder they are struggling to win games.
It was tough to watch!
Holy crap, talk about hanging out Loup to dry, 30 pitches for a lefty specialist? Jeez
He was out there forever!
My dad I were watching this and it was one of weirdest endings we’ve seen
I just say that in awe! A game we won't forget!
Let's go Mariners let's go!!! Break that 21 yr playoff drought and bring a World Series to the Great Pacific Northwest!!!
PLEASEEEEE
Amen
I’d love to win the World Series, but just making it to the playoffs would be amazing lmao
ok a pitcher tripped. a shoulder knocked a ball out of a glove. doesn't seem all that freakish. them's the breaks
All in one inning? And multiple times choosing not to turn a DP? And the 3B also falling? And a line drive off the 2B glove?
It's bad for sure, but by far not the worst D ever. BTW bad D affects baseball as much as basketball. Most teams could improve 10 games a year just by holding practice.
Couldn't hurt!
That was a tough scene.
That's an understatement🤣🤣
Idk man. Watch the guardians vs tigers. Guards struck out 3 times, then scored 6 in the 8th. Crazy.
6 in the 8th?! The Tigers musta been goin throughhhh it 🤣🤣🤣
@@MarinerMojoOfficial worth a look. You'll probably never see an inning like it again
Which game was it?
@@MarinerMojoOfficial 8/17. TH-cam doesn't show that inning justice though, skipped the 3 strikeouts part. It's on the mlb app
Sounds good Cody, I'll check it out in a bit!
