Heck yeah, I played so much Halo Reach (didn’t have a 360 for H3 until after Reach came out, but I’ve played tons of H3 since then) and MW2. My top games until like 2015-2016 were MW2, Halo Reach, BO1, and BO2. I’ve always been a big Halo fan, but CoD was hitting hard there for awhile. Now both series kinda suck compared to back then.
I remember Christmas ‘09 vividly, my Dad bought me all the ‘2’s and Arkham Asylum. Modern Warfare 2, Assassin’s Creed 2, Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, DiRT 2, Saints Row 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum Hours spent and such an amazing variety. They don’t make games like they used to
MW2 was the game I played when I needed a break from Halo 3/ODST. I was a High Rise and Afghan DEMON. Between those titles and Battlefield 3, FPS games were in the best position to date. DLC was free and when they did charge for it, it was $9.99-$19.99 at most. Easy investment when you KNEW that the game was balanced and the player base was steadily growing. $70 got you a great game, extra maps and content for something you'd be playing for the next 3 years.
MW1/WaW/MW2 - Halo 2/3/Reach/ODST - BFBC2/BF3/BF4 era was some god-tier days for FPS titles. The competition led to so much innovation and value per dollar that we have lost over the years as each game series has been catered to serve as many people as possible versus nailing down their genre. Halo to CoD to BattleField gave us nearly the full spectrum from arcade arena shooters to more open map sim-shooters.
My most memorable experience from MW2 was the time I sent a friend request to a guy at the top of my team's scoreboard (I was one of those squeaker kids that always sent one to whoever did the best every game). The guy accepted my friend request, and I asked him to teach me how to be better at the game. Surprisingly, he agreed and brought me into a private match. We found each other, stood like 10 feet apart, and he told me to stick a semtex grenade on him. Somehow, while he stood completely still, I missed the semtex stick. He laughed at me and left the game. Good times.
It was fun times. I hadn't planned on getting it. My girlfriend at the time bugged me to buy it. We had played World At War regularly and I was more into the WWII games than anything modern. She persisted and I did end up buying it. I ended up really liking it. Many hours spent playing it. The M4 and the P90 were my favorites.
The midnight launch of MW2 was among the great gaming moments I will ever have. It wasn't hardcore gaming fans in line. It was just regular people around your local area instead. It was a real game to transition the medium to the mainstream. Its multiplayer remains the most addictive game I have ever played.
In 2008, my dad got out of the army. In 2010 we got this game. It helped him a lot. Not only did I make friends online, but so did he. He bought some turtle beach x12s (not sure if that's right, it was the big sound canceling head set.) That really upped the fun we had. Especially when we got mw3. This Era is top tier gaming. Mw2, mw3, black ops, reach, halo 3... online gaming has gotten really bad. Fortnite was the worst thing for gaming. I have a love hate relationship with nostalgia
i never played mw2 till last year my first cod game was black ops 1 when i was 10 years old. which was 7 years ago and man I loved that game. I played so much of that game i got all achievements in it. i grinded that multiplayer and zombies so much i have great memories of getting to wave 30 at 2 am on a Saturday night on Kino der Toten and being so tired and happy at the same time me and my friends beat wave 30 and celebrated. then we all died and lost wave 31. we sadly got off after that because we wanted some sleep to wake up at 7 am to go and play some more cod bo1. man call of duty has so much nostalgia in my life. thanks for the video because i did finally play MW2 last year and this video brought back fond memory's of BO1 and MW2. Keep up the great work and keep up making the great videos as always. thanks RS for the memory's. have a good day. :)
Every now & then I come back to watch videos like this about this game. It was the summer going into high school when this game was coming out for me. The Xbox days with my boys are some of the best memories of my entire life man. Endless laughs, endless stories, endless fun. There’s probably more memories I forget than remember. Life is precious, some of those friends are gone. We never get special days back, even if they don’t feel special in the moment. I wish I relished in the moment of these days a little more. God bless everyone, this game is the GOAT.
I play mw2 still on ps3… team death match & FFA are still very alive… it’s not completely hacked like people say… it’s a lie. GET THAT OLD CONSOLE BACK OUT!
I was 11 years old, played Cod 4 a little younger and loved it. First time playing online was MW2 and it was amazing. Everything about it, the maps, characters, kill streaks, emblems, the gaming community like machinima, faze, optic, Easter eggs, glitches. Man what an era. Wish I could re live it one more time
MW2 gave me some of my favorite memories in gaming and I met some of the coolest people. Everyday I would come home from school and hop on MW2. I will never forget those times.
This gave me an idea, it’d be awesome to hear your fans/friends’ nostalgic stories of their first memorable experience in gaming or halo specifically. Just a blast from the past about what made this stuff great to us.
Me and 3 of my friends in high school would skip class and walk down the street to one if there houses to play MW2 and get high. One of my best memories
I remember getting MW2 for Christmas in 2009 and thinking I just received one of the best games ever made, I immediately started the campaign and I thought it was so Fucking awesome.
Got a PS3 along with MW2 for Christmas when I was 11. I remember starting it up the next day and my dad told me there was multi-player (had never played multi-player fps until that point). I remember hopping on and my first game, a match of TDM that was almost finished on Skidrow. I went into the building with the turret and hopped and started shooting. I saw a guy entering the main building and shot him which ended up being the final kill and I remember asking my dad if they really were real people. As the final kill cam began, I begin hearing the opposing players swearing at me for camping the turret in the building. My life would never be the same from that day forward 😂.
This was a great video guys, I really enjoyed this different content. MW2 was such a bright spot in many of our lives, a simpler time. I would love to see more!
The beginning of custom games with mike Meyers and other games. Introduced killstreak classics like chopper gunner, predator missile, and harrier. Was simply the peak of call of duty online gaming
The atmosphere of the Washington DC missions were unmatched. Especially when you’re closing in on the White House. Everything was only lit up by the orange glow of the fire around you
I’ll never forgot going to the midnight release with my friends. We rushed home, got in a game or two before going to bed since we had school the next day. It was all we could talk about the next day

I was older than all my friends and thought it was so cool at the time that MW2 when it first came out was the first M rated game i bought after I turned 17 and didn't need somebody older to buy it.
I remember that we got this game with my uncle a month after it launched. It blew my mind, I became so attached to it's characters, it was my addiction for the following year, I really couldn't stop playing- and this was one of the two CoD games where I leveled up to any prestige level (the other being Blops 2). It was really a cool sensation to feel that you've grinded so much. It really didn't help that I am in the spectrum, undiagnosed back then, so MW2 was my attachment for the latter part of 2009-early 2010.
It was the perfect game. Perfect story, perfect music, almost perfect weapon balance (toobs), perfect MP - will we ever see something like this in our lifetimes again?
Awesome vid, and great exploration away from Halo. In the peak of gaming (late 2000s), I think MW2 still in the king and paved the way for many modern FPS games. This was definitely the peak, and I couldn’t get even get into new cods after this was the standard. Best COD of all time.
Has some one that didn't live the hype of the golden age of cod and just got to finish mw2, i love to see the history of the ones who stay up all night just to play it day one.
Honestly it was the only COD where every mode was a perfect vibe. No other COD did I wanna find the hidden intel collectibles in the campaign and do all the goofy trophies. Spec ops gave you the stars in missions to earn not just endless waves of zombies or enemy mercenaries. And of course the multiplayer where they (rare now days) let players run around with random OP junk and it all somehow balanced out instead of catering to crybabies. Cod certainly ain't prioritizing fun anymore even tho I would say its not as bad or boring as people claim.
16:25 you have NO IDEA how long I’ve been looking for that video. I remember thinking it was real and trying to do it throwing grenades at every door I saw
Was ranked 1000 on the psn with a 10.0 kd primarily using knife only. Those were the days when you could do anything in this game and no one nerfed it you thought around it and played the way you want. Best multiplayer game, the true OG.
All Activision had to do in order to win their diminishing fanbase back was to give us a full remaster of MW2's multiplayer to go alongside the Campaign remaster they released several years back. Instead, they are Cease & Desisting fanmade mod projects, shilling severely-overpriced microtransactions, and lashing out at prominent community members for merely saying "Leave children alone."
Scrapyard is one of the first maps I think of when I think about MW2. My friends and I were never online players really. We just did everything in split screen. But man we had some great times on that map, all the maps really. That game was awesome.
I never had Modern Warfare 2. We only had Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 3 so we were always wondering what happened in the middle. At the end of the 360 lifespan, we got Modern Warfare 2 and I remember loving the Campaign and Spec Ops but I wasn't allowed to play online so I didn't play multiplayer.
When i played this games multiplayer it wasnt online it was local splitscreen at my friends house and man that shit was great. So great infact that i bought the game years later to play online. I also played the campaign and the story the emotions the soundtrack was and still is fire if there is a cod which i would love to go back to it is either this or mw3
MW2 was my first COD. I was 12 at the time and so I didn’t understand any of the political ramifications of the story. As a 22 year old, I now have a better appreciation for that game. I still get on multiplayer on my Series X now and then. “Wolverines!” will always be one of, if not my favorite campaign missions in COD.
The fact this game was such a hit was because of how different this was from example COD4 and WAW. Those games were already a hit and amazing with attachments and killstreaks etc but then you had MW2 which felt way more full with the killstreaks, customizations, titles and emblems etc it was such a change
What i miss is that all the maps feel different and kinda natural even when they weren’t, now most cod maps look like they put it in some random generator where is mashes and regurgitates crappy map. Like throwing grenades into a crowded room and trying to work out who’s body part belongs to after
Yeah exactly lol there’s no character to any of the new maps that’s why they all get boring after 1 hour no game will ever be like mw2 cause devs don’t listen to customers like they use too
Man i wish i could've experienced the multiplayer. The only multiplayer i can experience that is close to this is mw3, I can't find a mw2 match on Xbox.
What gets me is that from 2007-2013 seemed like it was a vast majority of people who did this. Everyone would play modern warfare. Go to school, rush home grab a snack and get straight to gaming that is if you got your homework done first, getting online and being able to chat with other people was so unique since Myspace and Facebook were relatively new so you had limited direct quick ways of meeting people. High schoolers would rail this stuff back in 2007-2011 and what seems like it was more common was since the US was still at War with Afghan and Iraq and these games for majority of campaign it was based on Afghan/Iraq terrain villages people and more. With that being said the US Military numbers were extremely strong and I believe that came from alot of these kids playing this games it inspired them. I was too young to really have live chat and all that stuff so nothing I can do there but I experienced it later in life and I caught a bit of that nostalgia feeling. Cool stuff
2007-2011 games were all great. BLOPS2 was OK, but in hindsight, it was also the beginning of the end as COD got progressively worse afterwards. MW3 2011 was the last great game imo.
This was without question the best call of duty game but with so many amazing facets of the game to extol you chose to talk about nonsense like "Nov 19th 2009. You just finished watching Spongebob and you were triggered because you only caught the very end of the show but now Fairly Oddparents is on and you really wanted a glass of Tropical Punch but your mom is making you drink milk with your bowl of hotdog slices and macaroni and cheese..."
Ah, no wonder as a kid I was confused as to whether or not MW2 was a CoD title when I first got it. (Before I got to play it) The Call of Duty text on the case was so small, my little kid brain didn’t even realize it was there. I remember someone asking me if I had CoD and I said no. Then I said I had MW2 though, and they looked at me like I was an idiot. Lol I got MW2 when I first got my Xbox 360 in August of 2010. I played it so much. So many good memories.
I remember buying this when I had no clue what call of duty was it just looked good, I had no idea that it would be the greatest game in the franchise history
Am I the only one who would get the games early? I remember going to a small video game shop that would sell the CoD’s a week before release date and to me that was always so nostalgic to me. Then when my friends got it on release date then wondered how I was already level 70 haha
@@giygas9305 Plus, after getting on a week early there were so many lobbies and almost everyone had said that they had also bought it from small game shops. You just had to know the right guy
This was my favorite PS3 game, also my last CoD game, because after this i just didnt like CoD anymore and switched to Battlefield 3. Recently i bought MW3 and going through these old maps again really makes me happy and nostalgic, not the same, but at least its really amusing!! MW2 was the most fantastic call of duty!
Cute script XD I can't honestly take it too seriously but I get what you're going for and it's fun. Even as someone who now feels pretty old as I grew up more in the time of looking forward to HL2 in high school than MW2 this still brought me back. Cheers.

The midnight releases of modern warfare 2 and 3 were a different time halo all that I used to spend hours on all
All Activision had to do in order to win their diminishing fanbase back was to give us a full remaster of MW2's multiplayer to go alongside the Campaign remaster they released several years back.
That game was awesome.
this game was so incredible it wiped out the memory of any other cod that came after it for me, they dont even matter.
MY God! I played the crap out of this game, and it was the last COD game I ever played. Now the are all 100 gig games. Jeez.
Yeah I didnt really have the ability to play games online until 2019. Have like 1,500 hours in both Halo MCC and Counter Strike.
@@giygas9305 I, too, have a lot of hours in MCC
The OG cods are playable on any xbox platform right now. Series x/s - 360. OG MW2 is booming right now. 💪🏿
I remember when this game came out. I had just graduated airborne and ranger school and was stationed at fort Stewart ga. Good times
This game is one of those that will always leave a mark on whoever plays it.
This game is still alive on Xbox I can find tdm don ground war and search and destroy full lobby’s in seconds and this game don’t even have cross play
I waited with my mom and friend outside of gamestop till midnight for this game and man, was it worth it
It was worth it lol. Got the words alittle mix up.
Dude it was crazy back in 2009, it was like a literal warzone, we all flamed us to death Lmao
try it now. activision just recently fixed the servers / matchmaking. if not, there is a decent sized active community on pc. / steam.
@@Leo.de99Fr how crazy it was
What gets me is that from 2007-2013 seemed like it was a vast majority of people who did this.
World at War is criminally underrated.
Amazing campaign mode, awesome multilayer and the dawn of zombies. One of the best iterations of Call of Duty
World at war was mid and is now way overrated
you seem to have forgotten about noob tubes, one man army, G18 akimbo, last stand and commando knive...
Nothing will ever be the same.. this was my all time fav cod. Brb gonna cry
I got that nostalgia hit when I saw Jessica Chobot ❤❤❤
1:33 “Leaving a mark on your teenage years” bruh I was in elementary school 😭
This was without question the best call of duty game but with so many amazing facets of the game to extol you chose to talk about nonsense like "Nov 19th 2009. You just finished watching Spongebob and you were triggered because you only caught the very end of the show but now Fairly Oddparents is on and you really wanted a glass of Tropical Punch but your mom is making you drink milk with your bowl of hotdog slices and macaroni and cheese..."
Still to today i play this game with friends and family.
These were the best times of my life in my early 20s playing this
Back then it was like Black Friday but only for Mw2
Ah, no wonder as a kid I was confused as to whether or not MW2 was a CoD title when I first got it. (Before I got to play it)
The Call of Duty text on the case was so small, my little kid brain didn’t even realize it was there.
I remember someone asking me if I had CoD and I said no. Then I said I had MW2 though, and they looked at me like I was an idiot. Lol
I got MW2 when I first got my Xbox 360 in August of 2010. I played it so much. So many good memories.
Yap, still play it, it has so mouch content, I was amazed when I started playing again, spec ops, survival, multiplayer, campaign, truly beautiful.
I remember buying this when I had no clue what call of duty was it just looked good, I had no idea that it would be the greatest game in the franchise history
I was 27 in 2009 and i remember explaining to my dad how successful this game and gta iv were financially. He was appropriately impressed.
Perfect is not a word I would use to describe a game that had the javelin glitch for months, and where you have no protection from explosive spam.
skill issue
Reading the back of a new game on your way home was iconic
I was a freshman in college when MW2 released and was lucky enough to only have one class that day that ended right when gamestop opened. Good day!
Yes... The real time communication was always friendly banter and meeting new teammates 😂
Bro y’all didn’t need to do this to me today. But thankyou.
Am I the only one who would get the games early? I remember going to a small video game shop that would sell the CoD’s a week before release date and to me that was always so nostalgic to me. Then when my friends got it on release date then wondered how I was already level 70 haha
Thata sounds extremely illegal
@@giygas9305 Idk but I always bought them 1-2 weeks ahead of time around 2009 and he would charge for the same price at $60
@@giygas9305 Plus, after getting on a week early there were so many lobbies and almost everyone had said that they had also bought it from small game shops. You just had to know the right guy
Life was much simpler! Miss it dearly
Would be a dream to go back to those days.
Me and my friends played the crap out of this game! It was the last good COD in my opinion and had such a good campaign.
bo 2 was the last good cod tbh
My journey took me from viva piñata to GTA V. The Xbox 360 was the best console ever made.
Cute script XD I can't honestly take it too seriously but I get what you're going for and it's fun. Even as someone who now feels pretty old as I grew up more in the time of looking forward to HL2 in high school than MW2 this still brought me back. Cheers.
