I've heard this before, yet every single time I do, it leaves another layer of intrigue & thoughtfulness behind to linger. Yours is the best rendition of this story yet.
This is one of my favourite stories for that reason. The narrator's voice matches the depth and tone of the story so perfectly. It's a 10/10 from me.

Given responsibility for ruling earth, refuses to do anything. Blames everyone else. Ends up whinging in a bar. Sounds like a manager all right.
Why should she go agains the very free will that she fell for, just to give it to humanity? ruling over someone is the highest form of opposite of "free will". If you don#t do something because you want to from the bottom fo your heart, but ratherb ecause you fear punishment, then you are not a good person. You are a coward that desires different things, but does not dare to act upon your own will.
The real question is: are we willing to use that free will for good of everyone to create a utopia... or do we end up in selfish desires? Often, selfishnes is even coated as "help" - see for example several social help programs like affirmative action. You don#t help people by lying to them that they could manage to achieve academic greatness by throwing a piece of paper at them and lowing thestandards. You are setting them up for failure, just to make yourself sound cocnerned about "the poor and needy" in the ears of eeryonearound that are similarly shallow and devoid of any real value.
Real value is created through tough times, tough decisions - challenges we manage to overcome and use to grow our own characters. This is the only way we can create a world where everyone can do something for himself and is not dependant on the good will of otherpeople. If you want to help others, help them help themselves - but don#t lower their challenges, even if they fail at first. People have to learn how to deal with these situations - then and only then can we people capable of making free andwell thought out decision.s
Nyctophora she's given responsibility to rule earth, which is supposed to have free will(already a huge red flag their). As soon as she gets there, she sees the wars we've raged on ourselves due to our leaders choices(mostly because one cult following didn't like the other cults). Announcing that every human has free will, but emphasizing that most have a tendency to follow the first motherfucker to say something. And then sits and says she doesn't want to help them, further applying the whole free will schtick("you guys don't want to help yourselves get better, than I can't help you"). Those with free will have a tendency to not want to be forced into things. If they want to sit and do something that helps right now, but destroys everything later, you can't stop them. Ask anyone who has gotten through intense depression and tried to self diagnose with drugs and alcohol. They'll tell you straight up that if someone had tried to help them when they started, they'd have just shrugged off the attempts and continued on their merry(or should I say depressing?) way. She wasn't whinging about anything unreasonable. She helped all of humanity, and then got blamed for all of the troubles they brought upon themselves. In my personal opinion, she had more than enough reason to "whine" about us treating her like the ultimate evil

The fact is that you are already in your eternal place, at least regarding your eternal soul. If you want to change where that position is in the eternal then you need to focus on what you believe is important right now.....no matter what you choose to do, You will be put in the proper place.

I'm a christian and I approve of this. I knew that this is for entertainment and it definitely delivers. It gives you an idea of "what if you'd hear the story from the devil's point of view". I always loved stories of other worldly being talking to normal people. It makes you think, and appreciate how much you can bend history to your whim.

This is my favorite reading of this story I’ve heard, I love the world weariness of her dialogue.
This story is truely amazing! Being raised as a Catholic, working as an alter boy, I feel that my understanding of this concept is much deeper. Hell realy is Earth. The explaination of what actually hinders mankind is so absolutely true. Most of society is blonded by their own simple lives, they cannot think or see beyond it. Consider the current state of human existance. More and more, people have become more rude, inconsiderate, far more devisive as well. We think that we have free will, but that is simply not true. How many people do you know that don't live and die by their phones, social media, and their status? The perpetual search for the perfect body, the distain for others who don't think like they do, feel they way they do, etc. Where has the compassion gone? The caring? The HUMANITY?!!! I can see where she says that we don't go to hell as punishment. We just keep returning back to Earth. It makes more sense than all of any religious beliefs. Hate is much easier than love. With hate, you don't have to put forth any effort. Sadly, it comes naturally...

I was in a lounge one evening back in 1997, sitting at the bar, drinking, depressed as hell and completely alone. I felt someone staring at me and turned to glance over my shoulder to see why this feeling suddenly came over me. There, in a booth directly behind me, was a man much older than me, in a black trench coat, I don't remember if he had a drink or not, but he was indeed staring at me. I turned back around thinking this guy's a freak. No sooner had I turned around, he was sitting on the stool next to me, continuing to stare. Now, I'm thinking, what is this dudes deal? I give him the obligatory courteous nod hoping he wouldn't speak to me. He leans in closer to me and say in a low voice, "Do you know who I am"? Annoyed and already planning to kick some old dudes ass, I answer him, "No, who are you"? He says, without batting an eye, "I am the Devil". Without a pause he says, "So, how's that book coming along"? The only one on earth that knew I had a book in my head was me. I had even gone so far as to begin collecting reference material from the library and had even written the first few pages before losing my faith. The overall theme of the book was a theory, that even to this day, I believe I am the only one to bridge the theory of evolution with biblical concepts. I vaguely remember asking him, "How do you know about my book?" I don't remember his responses or much of our short conversation from that point on, but I remember his parting words before he got up and went back to his booth. He said, "You better finish that book, time is short". He left the stool next to me. I turned around one more time after a minute or so to get one more look at this lunatic and he was gone as if he was never there.
One time I was in my College gyms locker room and I noticed one guys lock had numbers and letters on it. I live in the bible belt and I thought it would be funny to mess with some christian kid. I checked the locker room and then changed the number on the lock to X-6-6-6. I chuckled and went home. The next couple days I come back to the gym, my locker was open, not broken into, someone put in the combination opened it and placed the other lock that was now BROKEN in my locker. I freaked the fuck out and just placed the busted lock on the guys locker which was now empty. I know I was alone that and I was always alone when I entered my combination (I only went there at night). You may just be posting a story but I believe you dude, something is out there.

I asleep and in my dream I was awaken by a booming voice calling my name and informing me that Earth was Hell, because it had been gifted to Satan by God. We free willlers (if u will;) can manifest which ever "state of mind and living" we choose... it's up to each individual. That been said and being born into a duality dimension...there is always the balance of both. HOWEVER and birds of a feather and all that. IF that balance were to tip the scale, swaying it one over the other.... we would all have to co-exist under that swayed influence. Whether heavenly or hellish.. but it is always within those two variables. This was a magnificent story!! My God, this struck such a cord within me. We do indeed create our own hell here on Earth. We're children and could really use a helping hand with this existence thing. A child left to their own devices without a good parent will have a rough go of it. We're truly capable of great love and amazing things but we have difficulty trying to get there on our own. The evil, greedy ones in power really do exist and we choose to ignore them. Now our planet, the world we were given, is falling apart at every level due to our selfishness....here we are 😞.

As a bartender, waiter and security personnel of one of the busiest bars/clubs (patron to staff ratio) in my country, serving thousands of people a night-shift, I can honestly say I'm in firm agreement with Satan. Most people suck, _hard,_ and alcohol only makes it worse.
