    You do an excellent job on making realistic looking utility poles. After 47 years experience in the electrical industry I should know. It's a significant attention to detail. As for the kidney stone issue, I to have suffered from these in the past. I have been taking the raw unfiltered Bragg apple cider vinegar and the juice of a lemon everyday like you do with medicine. The apple cider vinegar is acetic acid and dissolves the calcification in your soft tissue while the lemon juice is citric acid and besides vitamin C it is responsible for regeneration of collagen, skin healt, mitigating arteriosclerosis, and protection from skin cancer. Although these are acidic, once digested turns alkaline. These should always be diluted with water and taken 20 minutes before eating to get the full benefits. Only natural unprocessed juices will give the best benefits. Along with adequate hydration. I tend to not drink enough water.
    Happy rails

      Yes. Hydration is an issue when the plumbing begins to fail . . . lol.

      Hey buddy, thank you! I wasn`t sure how the "impressionistic" look would come off in HO 1/87 scale, but it does seem to work well after all.

    Never had kidney stones and I hope I never will. Awesome job on the telephone poles. They look very realistic. Thanks for sharing. Dave

    Oh and I am very happy to hear you got through your Kidney stone ordeal. My friend Virg's issue took 7 days and she needed to go to the hospital. Happy to hear you are OK.

      I had to go to emergency first for six hours. Otherwise, I think I would have died writhing in pain.

    The consistency of colours in your layout provide nice unity and makes it easy for the viewer to move their eyes around the piece. Reminds me so much of a well-executed painting.

      @@boomerdiorama I think it helps tremendously that you have been a 2D painter/artist and that you understand colour and composition. No wonder your layouts look like works of art.

    My old boss told me when introducing black into the landscape the best black is black brown as to the eye it looks blacker. When I am further on with my layout I will need some utility poles you have given me the confidence to have a go at them thanks :~) Neil

      I would say he is correct. A good rule of thumb: No pure black, no pure white alone. The former is for darkening, the latter is for lightening. Cheers. ~ Boomer.

      @@boomerdiorama that was over 40years ago 🤪😎 the colour that is very difficult as a designer to place in the landscape is a purple beech tends to look like a black hole at distance.

    Boomer, great demonstration to watch over and over again. This is a learning experience. It was almost like having a class by myself with you as my teacher . I really enjoyed the tutorial you gave. The class was exceptional because of the way you demonstrated each step. Thank you for sharing this. Oh, by the way, l completely understand what you went through with kidney stones because it happened to me also. In fact I remember the doctor said the same thing, that it was almost like having a baby but l really appreciate my love of my life for our children. Man, it was pretty painful. Well anyway, for reading this! Have a great blessed day. Your friend, Mike

    Wow! They look awesome. I'm learning so much. On my polls near me some of the insulators are a green glass. How would you do that. Maybe paint them silver then a clear green like Tamiya X25? Then do your washes over that?

    • @boomerdiorama
      @boomerdiorama  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds good! The clear green over flat green might work as well.

    great video ! i had kidney stones too, so my sympathies. btw ny girl friend had kidney stones and 5 kids, she said stones were more painful than childbirth.

      @boomerdiorama  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank You. I don`t know what childbirth is like other than watching my daughter being born, but that was by C-section ultimately. I can attest, though, that kidney stones are worse than anything I have ever experienced.

    What tool did you use to make the bottom and tops of the transformers ?

    • @boomerdiorama
      @boomerdiorama  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Richard. I demonstrate the ballast coils here @ the (six minute - ten second ) mark and the ( nine minute - forty two second ) mark: th-cam.com/video/jy68MltMTO0/w-d-xo.html. The transformers are 5/32 tubing capped with .010 or .015 sheet styrene from Evergreen Plastic models. I used some scrap nut& bolt casting from my parts box for "gack" details. I also show how I made the ballast coils with rod and thread. I hope that helps - Boomer.
