      @@johnpetrovitz935 Lol . . . O.K. John . . . now I got yah! Thank You for explaining that.
      I think the overall illusion is created by painting everything with the same "set" of colors spread around here-and-there, in the same manner as the rolling stock, locomotives etc. Flat Paintings are effective this way, when an artist learns to move the same colors throughout the whole canvas. eg. If the (default) static grass is "light green," I will go ahead and repaint the static grass (with airbrush) a shade of "light green" etc. Absolutely everything gets a very thin re-paint. Cheers ~ Boomer.

    Thanks, watched while enjoyed my AM coffee fix. I was working on some trees(HO) and checked to see if you had posted .. yes .. he did hehe. Remember they didn't weld smaller rail, so that means joints and joint plates. Excuse the terms; jewelers saw is smallest cut I could find, I only cut top 1/3, as the plates cover the rest and this allows me to dip slightly at the joint. I make my plates, using regular paper(I lightly spray with Krylon matte, adds body and paunch wheel for bolts.) I do all the work before cutting, including Tack-It on the backside; then cut into strips(long ways) and then finale cuts between bolts. :) Happy joints. Keep them(videos) coming.

    I'm finally gathering up all (most) of the peices I need to start my layout. 6.5 feet x 16" is the best I can do with what I have, with around 2 feet of staging. Can you tell me where you found those little dumpsters??

    • @boomerdiorama
      @boomerdiorama  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My friend has an HO layout. He uses a 3 track 9 car ferry as staging. He has 6 ferry decks (6x9=54 cars) that he stores below the ferry landing to store the "staging ferry decks". He rotates through the 6 ferry decks in order so his ops program know what the staged consist is. He has a 3 track yard next to the ferry landing to hold and sort the cars as they come off the ferry. The 3 yard tracks and the ferry deck tracks all terminate in an end bumper with a coupler attached so they hold the cars until released.
      He has never had a car come off the ferry when moving the deck in and out of storage because of the bumper coupler. He store 3 ferry decks below the ferry landing and 3 below the 3 track yard beside the ferry landing. The storage shelf is a inch deeper than the ferry deck. When a ferry deck is put in storage, the next deck is pulled out a inch to indicate it is next. The decks are numbered as well as their storage locations. His Ops program is setup to take the 9 cars from the ferry, put them in the 3 track yard, sort them into a specific consist order. Deliver them to the main yard (2 tracks, 1 inbound, 1 outbound). The road engine takes the 9 cars out as a train to switch the industries and pickup 9 cars which will be loaded on to the next ferry. Meanwhile the 9 cars on the Main inbound track are loaded back onto the ferry deck and it leaves for storage.

    It's funny you should mention the rail size as I have often thought the only improvement to this layout would be to drop back to a Code 70 in spots. The overall look is just fantastic. I notice that ATSF flat has friction bearing trucks.

      These kind of anomalies occur when good planning is absent. If I build another one I'll definitely include Code 70 where appropriate. I tried to hide some of it with grass and weeds, etc. Yes, the ATSF is an older car by Tangent. Cheers.

      Everything is compressed on this layout. There is a swing gate there. Presumably the dumpster is on wheels or coasters. The driver has to wheel it out down the walkway behind the fence to the waiting truck. I see this all the time at work where trucks have no access.
