I just finished an A3 doing the same thing, cleaning the back of the valves, fixing the worn out intake flap bushes. Had a giggle about scraping the slide in port separator. So satisfying 😀
Its a good idea to look that oil cooler (because the leak on Mercedes.Don't know about audi,but is one of those things its good to check while you are there. (i hate that phrase because its said for almost every part in your way :) ).And the oil leaks are base option in WV group.
I saw some people getting really good results with crc gdi intake cleaner, that stuff seems to eat right through the carbon. Almost unbelievable unless you see it.
There's a used car lot flaunting a 08 Audi S5 4.2 mechanic's special. Claims its misfires in #3 and 5 out of 8. Claims they swapped spark plugs, coils, and fuel injectors and still can't get it run smooth. They've decided to sell as is claiming they're assuming it might be a short in engine harness or ECU is going bad. Could clogged intake valves in #3 and 5 cause the misfires? It's an S5 V8 manual for $7k.
All I can say is that with 5 of the 6 Audi’s I’ve had, none have had an issue with carbon built up. I’ve had the 2.0, 3.2, W12, 4.0 and 3.0 ( super charged and turbo charged). Then again, I never had valve cover leaks in an Audi either. One of the 3.0s is brand new. Just picked up a 2020 Q7. The other is in my ‘16 S5 cabriolet. What you’re doing is awesome to watch though! While you’re in there, be sure to replace the water pump. Do you know if the manual transmission version has some type of launch control? It’s awesome with the autos!!

You have to do anything to your intake? They have issues with the flaps loosen up.

Why didn’t you walnut blast intake ports ? I seen you have a Media blaster haha and how you turn engine over to clean ports ?
I don't have a media blaster. I had the whole front of the car off, turning the crank pulley was simple
