I always enjoy coming back to this video's description, it shows just how short ago it was that extremely talented TASers were doubting 4-2 would ever be done in an IL. Now Miniland has gotten G into warpzone on record pace 3 times (as of May 11th)
@@paulstelian97 Niftski's run ties this TAS into 8-4, but loses 16 frames in 8-4. The new SoB adds lightning and has an 8-4 one frame faster then this TAS. New Human Theory TAS is 4:54.282, and human SoB is 4:54.315
kosmicZ for mii. Also, do you plan on doing a Human Theory TAS for Glitchless? The TAS 4-2 framerule was saved less than a week ago (It's possible to have 6 frames to spare or so, but I did it with 0 frames to spare) and we have started going for harder stuff on 8-4, currently managing to get a 5:02.801 Human SOB.
I noticed that in 4-2, 22 frames pass between getting to xpos 132 and the screen scrolling again. If you were able to start running earlier, plus do a fast acceleration immediately after entering the warp zone room, that might be fast enough to match the TAS. For the record, I know nothing about TASing games, so what I'm saying might be completely wrong...
You would think if I did a perfect clip with a perfect pipe entry and a fast acceleration it would save the framerule, but it doesn't. The best I've ever seen that first room done was a 4-9 (done by darbian) which is really really fast. If I made a TAS of what I think the best a person could do (around a 4-C with 2 bump 3 frames faster than 4-9) it wouldn't be near fast enough to save it. In this video I saved the framerule by a single frame (4-i) which is 12 frames slower than darbians 4-9. I would need at least a 4-F/4-G (4-G being 7 frames faster than 4-9 and 4 frames faster than 4-C) and do a fast acceleration to even save it by a frame. oh and by the way me saying 4-i, 4-9, and 4-G is talk for how fast you completed the first room using the sockfolder/pellsson practice rom. And yes, it does look like I lost a bunch of time getting 15 extra pixels, but since I did the wall clip and the jumps in the wall perfectly, it was still fast enough and I still could have gotten a 376 if I did the pipe entry the normal way. Hopefully I explained it well enough
yeah I was there when he was trying to do that. It was 4 perfect fast accelerations with 2 really good bumps and a fast pipe entry should be a 4-F to 8-2. Now just to get it full level ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Good job! My tas pb is 4 55 34 I will try to replicate it but with the new 4 2 clip (Niftski achieved it with a practice tom) and with the old BBG setup (524 setup) , if I do good 8 4 I could get 4 54? EDIT: cringe my tas pb now is 4 54 032 lol
I got 355 on the timer in rta by doing left+b 4 frames before the falling next to or in the middle of the wall or 6-1 pipe. For me the chances are 1/6.
I have a few questions I was hoping someone who TASes Mario Bros could answer. 1) What controls Mario's top speed and has there been any way found to manipulate it into being higher than it's normal max? 2) Are there any number of frames that could be saved by clipping through the warp zone wall of 4-2 kinda like there is in 1-2? 3) On certain stages it seems like it would be possible to clip into the floor beneath the flagpole. Would doing so allow you to achieve bullet bill glitch-like animations at flag poles by jumping into the flag block from there?
Not a TASer of SMB, but I can answer. 1. Whether Mario's underwater or not, and whether he's pressing B or not. And no, you can't go faster than running speed on the ground. (There's a disassembly, I checked.) 2. From every resource I've seen, it seems unlikely that that clip is possible even with TASing. 3. Yes, and this is done a few times within the warpless TAS.
What if you did fast Accel for every level, do the 8-1 level normal, fast Accel 8-2 BBG, 8-3 FPG and Fast Accel the Entire 8-4 What time you'll get on the TAS?
the only level where a fast accel will save the framerule is 8-1, at least when combined with the fast fpg. and this tas does fast accels in 8-4 everywhere it saves time--also, backwards jumping the entire level won't make you go faster, it just gets you up to running speed faster.
@@paulstelian97 i mean it wasn't even a prediction, it was either do pl8-1, do lightning 4-2, or do an 8-4 at least 1 frame faster than the 8-4 il wr, and of those options pl8-1 is by farrrrr the most reasonable
Go on speedrun.com/smb1 and click resources then search for an automatic timer with xpos and framerule counter for fceux, click on it and copy all the script to a normal document, save it as Lua file and you have the script

It isn’t even in 8-4 IL right?
I honestly cannot believe 4:54 is now humanly possible and not sure how I haven't stumbled accross this earlier. Keep up the good work Tubby!
The 454 is now done, what in the fuck
And now Niftski's new WR is faster than this. Unreal.

It's crazy how human SoB is 22 frames faster then this now
