Thank you for the analysis..Am 68 yrs old and was thought to have trigger finger by my primary Phys.. went to a specialist and after an x-ray discovered Rheumatoid Arthritis being the culprit..in my case it is believed to be hereditary as my father suffered for many years from RA..his started in his early 50's ..the treatment and drugs he was given caused him many problems..hopefully todays medications are not so damaging..His skin became thin to the point where the sheets he would sleep under would tear his skin at times as well as he would bruise very easily..For me my ring finger locked up to where if you held your hand and fingers straight..my ring finger protrudes forward and i can't straiten it..What seems odd to me is how sudden it happened..i had no warning it was progressing to be like this..just had a sharp pain in my finger and from that point on it protrudes inward and will not straiten..

Nicely done and in plain language I could understand. I have a right hand that is very sore and swollen every morning & it takes me about 10 - 15 minutes before I can get them to loosen up so I can get up & function. I am going to a hand specialist & I’ll compare explanations! Thanks again, BTW I am 72 & my father died from complications due to RA. 12/5/2023

Sorry for your loss..my father suffered for many years from RA..his started in his early 50's ..He lived to his mid to late 70's but didn't pass from complications from RA though..I went to hand specialist yesterday after my ring finger locked up on me suddenly.. it was thought by my primary i had possible trigger finger and only after seeing a specialist yesterday it was diagnosed as RA..i am 68 yrs old but remembering the treatment and medications my father was given i am not sure i want to go through the same process..the specialist said my condition is more than likely hereditary..My fathers hands became deformed as it progressed and i believe mine will as well at some point..The medications given caused my father many problems..his skin became thin and he would bruise very easily..Could be now they use medications that hopefully don't have the same side effects..i wish you well..not sure how long before my situation will progress but seeing how sudden my finger locked up like this i can only believe it could happen at any time..
