    I have a question, I am really interested in getting this application for myself to experiment with sounds of Hammond organs because they are synonymous with some sports teams that I enjoy personally, and I really want to recreate some sports chant tunes and more. Will it work if you just have a normal keyboard and mouse, or do you have to purchase a keypad/keyboard to use it externally? Otherwise great video!

    • @SoundsAndGear
      @SoundsAndGear  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends on what software you're using with it, some DAWs will allow you to use your qwerty keyboard as a MIDI input. There is also software out there that can do that but I can't think of any off of the top of my head. If you're just using it in a sequencer you can also draw the notes in as needed to trigger it.

  • @SjaakShirly6559

    Great demo. May I ask a question? I just have one midi keyboard (M-Audio 88). Do you need two keyboards (or in your case 3) to use this excellent plug-in? Thanks in advance.

    • @SoundsAndGear
      @SoundsAndGear  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, you only need one, but can use multiple if you wish.

    It sounds nice. And that's just it.
    A real B3 (mine is a '61 with a 122 Leslie) does all of this but with so much more expression, and I use the drawbars and volumepedal constantly to change dynamics and get anything from the lightest whisper to a full-throated roar that would make Jon Lord proud.
    No sim has ever come close, even this one, and not even after connecting realtime controllers for all drawbars and volume.
    My beast will happily outlive all sims and wannabes - even me 🤘😀🤘

      I feel the same about the Rhodes, but that doesn't make it less useful. Not everyone has access to a B3, and this sounds great! Same way not everyone has access to a Rhodes, but there are some great libraries available for that too. All good!

      Hey Gerald ... I know you are proud of your Hammond B3. Congrats! I think one benefit of this amazing Hammond-approved app is that it is perfect for live performances like I do with my cover band and my trio. I'm old enough (seasoned?) to remember helping my best friend's older brother's band from high school move the gear. Not fun. His keyboard player had a B3(NOT a PortaB!!), Leslie 147, and a Wurlitzer piano. I clearly remember after a gig 4 or 5 guys giving there all to hoist that mutha into a truck at 2 a.m. Yuck! Not to mention the Leslie ... another 200+ pounds I believe.
      Of course nothing matches a real B3 ... but for us aging musicians that still enjoy performing live (over 2000 people at our last gig!) ... I believe this app, an iPad (they do have an iPad version), and my Yamaha MODX7 (weighs 16.5 pounds) is a winner! If I had a road crew ... things might very well be different. Cheers!

      @@SoundsAndGear Ok, peace! :-) I'm actually a jazz musician, but I love goooood music, no matter, what style: rock, classic, jazz, hiphop, soul ... Deep Purple (MkII) and Jon Lord IS good music. Give it a try, it's worth it. Jon is one of the best and innovative hammond players ever. th-cam.com/video/hNZPNv0Df9c/w-d-xo.html Often he played his hammond through a Marshall-amp to create the distortion. They call it "the beast". It's a classic sound nowadays, he invented it. In the B-3X-Presets it should be the Purple B-Preset. I'd be curious, how it sounds in the B-3X.

    • @SoundsAndGear
      @SoundsAndGear  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@peachum5939 Cool, just not really my thing. I'm generally not a fan of the overly distorted B3 sound. I've heard the name before, but not something that would even be on my radar.

  • @doraysmith

    Alot of these VST/Simulator/Emulator organ domos are very unfair to the product. A real B3 isnt going thru studio monitors, earbuds or computer speaker..its going thru a large box with a spinning horn and 15" sub...
    Run your organ VST stereo thru a pair of QSC KW152 for the upper horn and then use the QSC KS118 for the sub and if you really wanna make it scream use a USB Dual TubePre Two Channel USB Tube Preamp for ultimate warmth....
    If you did this I guarantee most of us wouldn't be able to tell the difference blind tested in a church or in a recorded live mix...especially with this new Hammond B3X...ijs.
