I’m totally a twilight girly. I’m 31, so the books were releasing while I was in high school. I completely unironically loved it. Now, I can recognize how silly it is, but I have such nostalgia and fondness for it
Then we can be twilight girlies together! 💗
Absolutely love the Prada eyeshadows. The one with the violet works so well and the one with some red actually has a pinkish cast. I find that the Prada foundation works well with a primer on my combo 71 year of age skin, even here in snowy Maine. I have two of the lipsticks in the soft matte formula that are very comfortable. The colors in the Dior eyeshadow palette are very appealing, but some of the formulas have Bismuth Oxychloride that causes a reaction on my eyelids.
Hearing your experience with the Prada products is so useful - thank you for sharing it! Prada is definitely on my "list of interest" to try at some point, especially after hearing your thoughts on it.
I can recommend the Prada Soft Matte lipstick. I usually don’t like matte lipsticks, but they’re very comfortable to wear👌👍.
That's great to know! I'll have to give them a try the next time I need a lipstick.
I am totally with you! Less is more this year and hopefully for the rest of my years. I had really realized that I had been overspending last year and definitely made fomo purchases. I have given myself a budget this year and I'm already thinking of cutting it a bit more. I already have more than I need lol, but I still want to enjoy a little newness but within my budget.
Then let me cheer you on! Congratulations on putting your realizations into action and making changes. If you ever need to "vent" about the challenges of altering behavior, you'll have an understanding ear here. I (and many people watching) have been in similar places. ❤️
So lovely to see you back. I’m loving this whole coziness situation you’ve got going on.
It's lovely to see you too, Ruth! I can't wait to check out your No Buy intro when I have a minute. It will be fun to "hang out" again.
Ivy would be a good resource for more on BellaBeauteBar!
I was actually thinking of her while I was editing this! Her videos have been a great resource.
Oh I totally feel you on the twilight collab... they did the theming too well and it's doing something to my brain, I'm also coveting the whole thing for some reason. I wouldn't classify myself as a twilight girlie but I'm somehow nostalgic for it regardless! At least the collection is sold out for now, safe for the moment.
Also I have tried the colourpop lip oils before, they're more like a gloss and to my recollection have a somewhat strong fruit scent to them? My general thought on them is that they're just fine! However I'll... probably end up buying that lip trio and maybe also the palette. It will be the biggest win of my year if I manage to talk myself out of the sparkly body oil (I've never worn body oil in my LIFE)
CP really hit the nail on the head with that collab! Even isolated from Twilight it looks really nice. But I think they captured the mood really well.
Thanks for the feedback on the lip oils, Lauren! I have to admit, I'm a fan of fruity smells. But I still have glosses to use up, so I think I'm going to have to pass on the Team Jacob lippie.
Isn't it wild with that sparkly body oil? I also never wear body oil but am strangely attracted to it anyway. Ah, marketing. 😂
FIVE HOURS of snow shoveling…and it’s snowing again?! Gah!!!!!
I have oily skin and the Prada foundation is my current favorite. It’s definitely worth trying when you need more foundation. You can just buy the refill and use it alone without the rest of the packaging. It worked for me great in the summer, but also is working for me in the winter-which is unusual for me!
I have a few of the Prada Hypermatte lipsticks, and I love them. They are very comfortable. The colors are gorgeous. I’d like to try the soft matte formula eventually.
Your makeup monster popping up is adorable! 😂 My makeup monster isn’t as cute!
I agree that the Team Jacob lipgloss is so pretty. I tried CP lip oils years ago, but I don’t like them, so I’m safe from this purchase. But hello fellow TWILIGHT GIRLIE!! 🧛♀️
I love snow when I don't have to shovel it. But all the shoveling and black ice is really making me rethink that love. 😂
Hearing your thoughts about the Prada foundation is making it creep higher on my list of potential foundations to try. And knowing that the lipsticks are comfortable means they'll be going on my wishlist.
Thanks for your feedback on the CP lip oils. That makes it easier to say no. (Not that it matters - I heard the entire collection sold out in minutes.)
Vampire! hahaha great video
Haha! Thank you. ♥
You have such a pretty, cold girl look going on!
Thanks, Kim! I felt like more of a cold girl in these frigid temps! ;-)
I'm ready for winter to be over! I also slipped on ice recently 😅
I think Bella Beaute Bar has been around for a while, but they haven't been on my radar until last year. Their color stories and themes definitely caught my eye and I think Amy (Amy Loves Makeup) and Riley (seekingshifts) had a BBB palette in their 2023 favorites. I expected the Dead Roses Palette to be murkier tho'.
Picking apart the EL lipstick claims was so funny. Often product descriptions are really over the top, I guess everyone is trying to overcompensate for the fact that most makeup releases aren't that unique.
The Twilight collection is cute, definitely better than a lot of the other IP collabs🧛
Slipping on ice is no fun. I bought crampons today because it's been so hazardous here lately.
I'll have to search out Amy and Riley's takes on BBB. Thanks for the recommendation!
I have a feeling most makeup marketing claims are pretty silly if we just look closely enough. But whether they're silly or not, they seem to have worked: I am still wondering what makes those lipsticks "dangerously slick".
CP really did a good job with that collab. I was expecting it to be cringey. But it actually looks really nice, even isolated from the IP.
Firstly, I completely empathize with your 5-and-a-half hour gruelling shovelling session (I've been there!), and I'm sorry you slipped on the ice! I've done that MANY times, and it's equally annoying and humiliating every time.
I completely relate to being a sucker for some luxurious packaging. It certainly adds to the entire experience of a product. And I do have to giggle over your infatuation with beige. I fear I may be crossing over to the dark side as I currently realise I have a lack and subsequent desire for nude lipsticks in my collection. (I'm now eyeing Chanel's Adrienne, too, after seeing it on you in this video). I'm impressed by how long you've gone without purchasing any lip products!
Your analysis of new makeup releases continues to be very inspiring. Between your humourous takes on claims (I had to pause and wonder if I also knew what audacious meant), analysis of marketing strategies, and comparison with products from your own collection, you are doing us all a service in taming our makeup monsters. Bravo! 🧛
Thanks for the empathy! It helps heal my wounded pride at falling.
I think it's great that we can giggle about each other's relationship to color. It just goes to show that differences can be appreciated and enriching instead of dividing people. Your use of intense, deep and saturated colors has always intrigued me and you do it so well!
It would be hard for me to talk you out of a nude lipstick (and Chanel's Adrienne certainly is a beauty) considering my obsession with them. But I feel like purchasing something to fill a very specific hole in your collection is a wise choice (as opposed to my past behavior of purchasing multiple versions of what was essentially the exact same thing). The fact that I had so many nude lipsticks at once is the very thing that has prevented me from purchasing any more. Luckily I seem to have learned my lesson.
That happens to me with words all the time... I hear them and use them often, but when I stop to define them, sometimes it's surprisingly challenging.
I'm so glad I can help to tame more than just my own makeup monster. You do the same for me in your videos. I'm quite enjoying that edifying feedback loop. ❤️
I love your videos, your content and soothing voice. You have a beautiful smile! 😌
❄️I’m watching while on a ski trip, it has been snowing for days❄️
🌨️It’s a skier’s dream and I absolutely LOVE all this snow, but until the family gets up, I indulge in videos that make me feel good and cozy💄
That sounds beautiful! Snow on a ski trip is the BEST! I hope you have a wonderful time.
And it's great to know that I can be one thing contributing to your cozy morning.
Your sense of humor is so great 😂 twilight girlie 😂😂😂😂
Thank you! Twilight girlies for the win. 😂😂😂
Happy new year! I hope you had a good time during your holidays ❤
Happy New Year to you too, Mery! I had a wonderful time, thank you. I hope you had a great holiday season, too! ❤
I know what you mean I am going on a no shopping ban for me it is clothes which is more expensive. I will do some makeup and skincare. I do like this color story of this palette but I can understand how you like the removable pans. Oh WOW Prada is coming to Sephora SO cool! There is a Sephora about 5 blocks from my apartment I am going to have to pop in there for that. I am not big on matte either. I am sucker for packaging too. Sometimes the packaging is better than the product itself. "I don't want anything dangerously slick" 🤣🤣🤣. The writing is a bit over the top. Ooo the Twilight lippie look so lush. I want to try them. Wish I could do liquid liner. I can see why you want the whole CP collection! 👍🥰☺
How is your shopping ban going, Allie?
Isn't it great that Prada's at Sephora now? I can't wait to at least go swatch their things at some point.
Haha! I'm glad I'm not the only sucker for packaging. You're right: sometimes it's better than what's inside! 🤣
Those Twilight lippies do look lush. Colour Pop glosses seem to be pretty polarizing though: half of my viewers love them, half of them really don't like them. So I'm not sure if I'll end up trying one or not (if they ever come back into stock). Have you ever tried that formula?
I got bored whilst snowed in and looked at trademarks beauty companies have filed. Due to that data, I think Natasha Denona is going to release a gold palette and gold lipgloss, and then a taupe/mauve/rose collection(s). (they TM’d “Taupic”)…..so more neutrals are on the forecast! (And more snow for me….😂)
Neutrals sounds good to me! (Better than shoveling snow for sure.)
🧛 great video!
Thanks, Brandy! ♥
So I have a similar thing with the Lord of the Rings movies. It's a comfort thing. Your brain at some point in your life put the memory of the Twilight movies into the "releases serotonin" section. This allows you to feel better when you are missing your loved ones. Our brains do weird and amazing things to help us feel ok when we might not actually feel ok.
That's a great explanation, Megan. Thanks for sharing that. How wonderful that our brains help us in such unexpected ways.
I've missed you!!!! I've kept my makeup monster at bay. I am wanting a new neutral palette but I have two that are just fine and I keep telling myself until I hit pan on my most used colors I'm not allowed to buy a new one.
I've missed you too, Heather! It's always fun to chat with you here. Congratulations on keeping your makeup monster at bay! What are your two current neutral palettes?
I guess they are nude palettes more than neutral but I use my Too Faced The Natural Nudes palette almost everyday. My other fave is my 42 color Nude palette from Beauty Bay. The Beauty Bay formula really is amazing.
@chuckychic01 I’ve heard great things about the Beauty Bay formula, so I’m sure it’s lovely! And that Too Faced Natural Eyes palette was my absolute favorite for years! (I liked it so much that I’ve even considered repurchasing it.) You have exceptional taste. 😉
I must say I love your makeup monster! Thanks for another informative video!
She's cute but mischievous. ;-) Thanks for watching!
Girl, where are you? i miss your videos! Hope everythings well
I'm editing my next video right now, it should go up this week! It's just been really hard to find the time for videos while I was traveling. Thanks for checking in!
How much i love your videos and soothing voice 🎉And thank you for helping me keeping my current makeup collection smaller and using up what i have. And being on a budget i love the concept of your videos and philosophy ❤ You are my validation every time not getting carried away 😅 Happy new year my beautiful Stephanie filled with blessings ❤🎉( now that i actually commented, why i can't comment frequently i feel embarrassed 😂) Love you my beautiful all the way from Greece 🇬🇷 ❤🎉🎉🎉
It's always lovely to hear from you, Eleni! Happy New Year to you, too! I'm glad we can share this road together - it's more fun with company. ;-)
Patrick Ta has lip liners like the tarte ones. It works pretty well just takes a few uses to get used to lol
I’ll have to take a look at them next time I’m at Sephora. Let the monster have a swatch party.
Colourpop lip oils are my fave. I’m a Twilight fan and I want this collection so bad. But on a no buy. 😢
I still feel my year-long no-buy in my bones, so I feel your pain. The silver lining: based on its apparent popularity, I have a feeling the Twilight collab will be around for a while (the Mandalorian collection has been out for years and it's still available). That's great news for any Twilight fans on no-buys, because it will probably still be around once the no-buy ends! ❤️
@@TheStyleStumbler this is very true. But, found out last night DW bought it for me. The little stinker lol. We’ll be doing a collab with it. 🥳
@@amiemelissa that's so sweet! It'll be a fun collab for me to watch, too.
@@TheStyleStumbler 🥰
You must have shoveled an airport runway for over 5 hours! Anyway, you look radiant as always. Happy New Year.
That's what happens when there's a long driveway, the snowblower breaks down, and the plow never comes. Ah, the joys of winter. Happy New Year to you, too! I hope you're well and don't have to shovel much.
@@TheStyleStumbler Very bad luck then. I guess you got your exercise for the day 😀
@@tostoday there are worse fates than shoveling. Even if it's 5.5 hours. 😂
Will you be making more videos? hope you're well
I'm editing my next video right now, it should go up this week! It's just been really hard to find the time for videos while I was traveling. Thanks for noticing I was gone, Janiah!
"It started snowing again here" Where is here ? Is it Germany ? It is indeed snowing so heavily ! :O It was supposed to snow last night, but it rained instead. however I think there's black ice because I am not hearing a lot a vehicles go by.
No, I'm still on the road and glad to avoid the ice in Germany at the moment (I like snow more than ice). Black ice is the worst. Trying to walk in all the slip-slide-y-ness is no fun!
Oh how I remember being a Twilight girlie... And the Prada Foundation got me. So far I've only bought 3 new beauty items this year. 💪
Fellow Twilight Girlies unite! ;-) I saw your review of the Prada foundation on IG and half of me wants to try it, half of me wants to avoid anything clinging to the texture on my chin.
Congratulations on only three new items! May I ask what they are?
@@TheStyleStumbler And thank you for checking out my review 😉 I was lured in by Kackie and HMT. But mostly Kackie 🤣
My 3 items were the Prada foundation (actually bought it at the end of Dec as a b-day present to myself. But I knew it would take a while to arrive.), the pressed version of the Guerlain meteorites (bought at the same time as the Prada. HMT told me you could pay $65 to get free shipping from Selfridges for a yr. I had never perused their offerings prior, as I was of the impression the shipping was astronomical. And I have been patiently waiting for Guerlain to release that pressed version in the US for a yr or more. Once I saw the Prada foundation on sale for $47 AND they had the Guerlain powder, I had no choice.), and the new Natasha Denona bitty blush trio. 🤪
@@majesticbeast4830 I always enjoy your reviews! And now that I know you have the ND bitty blush trio, I'm going to be keeping my eyes peeled for your thoughts on that.
My interest in the Prada has been inspired by so many creators now (you included) that I want to see if I can find a sample of it somewhere. I'm not at the point where I need to buy one yet, but I learned my lesson from my contour ordeal last year: that I shouldn't wait until my product is almost gone before trying to find a new one.
@@TheStyleStumbler I am on a journey to strike a balance in my life between, as you say, "wanting to try, but not necessarily buy". I am in a geographical phenomenon - a beauty desert. So I buy.
But I do not wish that fate upon others. So I would always recommend finding a sample 😉
And thank you for your kind words of encouragement. I may not have the time or space in my life to become a TH-camr such as yourself. But I do very much enjoy interacting with fellow beauty lovers and tossing my thoughts into the IG algorithm to spice things up 🤣 I do so hope I do not disappoint you with my ND review 🤞. 🤪😹
@@majesticbeast4830 Being stuck in a beauty desert is frustrating - I've been there. And it makes me all the more grateful that I can often find opportunities to try things or swatch them in person first.
I am definitely a fan of yours (even if my presence on IG is sometimes inconsistent). I appreciate your creative approach to your reviews (and your brutality) immensely. No matter what your thoughts are on ND, I'm sure I'll enjoy hearing them.
🧛
♥
5and half hours is a long time to be shoveling. 😲
The distinction between wanting to TRY and wanting to OWN is a good one to keep in mind. I've discovered with a great many things that owning the thing is definitely not as cool as the idea of it when it's not yet attained. And the power of faulty packaging to be a turn off is vastly underestimated..
I see having the pause between curating your collection and being able to use it as a good thing. It will let you look at it with fresh eyes and a clear mind to continue to evaluate and hone your collection to only the shiniest gold nuggets.
I kind of like the Chantecaille Sea Turtle packaging, but I think it's only because it reminds me of my pancake turtle from elementary school art class.
Falling for the package design is something we're all susceptible to. I know I've fallen for it. I still have some containers from things that have long out lasted the actual product. But it's good that you're able to flex and continue training your self control muscles. Sometimes looking at pictures of the pretty and shiny things is enough.
Satiate. That's such a good word. I haven't had call to use it in a long time. Your plan for the Huda Beauty Grunge palette you have sounds like a great idea.
Honing your application skills with what you already have is a great long term strategy. Too often people get caught up in having all the things for a hobby or interest, but then they never really learn how much they can do with an individual thing or develop a skill set where they can get consistent results. Sharpening that skill first and then possibly bringing new products in seems like the right order to go in.
Just as a general observation on this video, the way you parse out and investigate the descriptions of the various products, especially the Estee Lauder lipsticks, shows a new aspect to your reviews. How you examine the claims of performance, point out some of the marketing gimmicks, and issues with formula, packaging etc. I'm sure will provide fresh insights for people who watch your videos for advice and get their brain hamsters spinning the wheel to help them make better choices.
I'm also surprising myself to say that I find some of the individual colors in the products you reviewed, mainly in the SUQQU collection, objectively interesting and if things I bot were in some of those shades , I would be very tempted to buy them.
🧛🧛 I won't say there's anything wrong with being a Twilight girlie, even if my first thought at any mention of Twilight anything is to imagine Bram Stoker rolling over in his grave, everyone has there thing. I do find watching the realization and acceptance wash over you kind of hilarious. You should just own it. But don't go out and by the collection. Don't to that. I also kind of wonder what the company was thinking. Twilight seems so out of the ebb and flow of pop culture right now, unless they're trying to corner the marker for fans of a certain age bracket, I don't know.
My two main thoughts about Twilight are:
1) being slightly mad at Christiana Perry for doing A Thousand Years and making me like something associated with the franchise and
2) the first time I saw KT Tunstall in concert her opening act was some band no one had ever heard of. They announced a song as being featured on one of the movie soundtracks as a way of hyping the crowd and no one cared. 😂
Five and a half hours is waayyyyyyy too long to be shoveling. Ugh.
It's so true. The dream of attaining a thing is often so much better than the reality of having the thing.
I'm really looking forward to getting back to my curated collection. I have a feeling that using such a small, edited travel kit these past several weeks will make me appreciate all the things I've been missing, but also inspire me to pare things down even further.
You made a turtle out of a pancake? What kind of elementary school magic is this?
Packaging really is tempting. I wonder what the biological/psychological reason is for that. I'm just glad I'm not the only one falling into that trap, and that I've learned to better avoid it.
Satiate really is a fun word. I've also very much been enjoying "hurkle-durkle" (maybe because I was so exhausted after my marathon schedule at the end of last year). Do you have a current favorite word?
Thanks so much for the feedback on the video! I hope you're right and that that train of thought will inspire more considered purchases (for me and for anyone else who is tempted to overpurchase pretty things).
Yeah... that SUQQU collection is really rattling around in my brain, particularly due to the colors. The fact that you also think they're appealing must mean they're really something special. Those things have been living my head for a couple of weeks now. But I've avoided temptation in the past, so I'm pretty sure I'll be able to hold strong now.
I am definitely trying to own my newfound identity as a Twilight Girlie. I guess I never identified with it because I was completely unaware of the books or movie during the original hype. I basically just stumbled onto the books while I was on tour and had a lot of dead time on my hands. Same with the movies. And I remember being entertained, but I wasn't obsessed. I never thought I'd watch them again. Fast forward to now and they've become staples of my travel life. Unexpected, but hey: why not?
As for the collection: I don't think I'll be picking anything up. Reliable sources have told me that the Lip Oil formula isn't all that great, and that was the one thing that I would have bought purely for the sake of the product. But apparently I couldn't even if I wanted to. I heard that it completely sold out within minutes. So I guess there's still a lot of Twilight Girlies out there (perhaps humming "A Thousand Years" as they wait for their orders to arrive 😉).
@TheStyleStumbler the last time I spent anywhere near that long shoveling snow, I stood at the end of my driveway as the plow was coming around to ensure my work was not spoiled.
I've noticed recently how my spending habits have changed, and im no longer tempted by a lot of things. I got an Amazon gift card from my boss as Christmas/general thank you gift, and I have no idea what to buy with it.
Hurkle-durkle is a great word. I've been doing it a lot lately. The one that keeps popping in my head lately is disambiguation. I'm also wondering if there is a word to describe the cocoon of warmth made under the covers from sleeping that you don't want to leave.
The short version of the pancake turtle story is that we made clay turtles in art class one day. As the teacher was putting them in the kiln to fire, she dropped mine, flattening out the back. The next day, when she distributed them out so we could glaze them, I was momentarily upset, but then really happy that mine was different.
I'm so glad I missed the boat on the whole Twilight situation. I was told by a couple of people that the books are decent reads, but I have no interest in them. That franchise was probably the first time I remember being annoyed by how obsessive some of the fans were. I also remember a Burger King commercial for a tie-in promotion featuring kids trying to present the merits of team Edward vs team Jacob. I found it insipid.
@@zachbecvar It is the absolute WORST when a snow plow ruins hours of hard work!
I think it's great that you have no idea what to buy with the gift card. Unfortunately I can still always easily find things to want.
I don't know that there's a word for the cocoon of warm covers that makes getting out of bed seem so undesireable, but we could make one up. My suggestion: a wubble (warm bubble).
The pictures of your pancake turtle were adorable. You definitely lucked out that your teacher dropped your art project.
I'm usually pretty nonchalant when it comes to fans of franchises. But maybe that's because I never watch TV, rarely see commercials, and am pretty isolated from pop culture. Or maybe it's become I come from a family of Trekkies who are also fans of Star Wars. 😂
@TheStyleStumbler Wubble is a great word. I'm going to start using it. It's going to become a thing. 😂😂
I'm sure I'll find something to use the gift card on, just haven't found it yet.
I must have missed the boat of when enjoying something morphed into being part of the fandom. But I'm glad I did. I'm also a lifelong Trekkie and Star Wars fan. I never understood the people say you can only like one or the other. Generally, the pop culture craziness today avoids me. If I find something I like then good, but I don't go off the deep end about it.
🧛♀
I would reply with a hobbit emoji if they had one. ;-)
