i dove down the "fox hole" a few months ago myself after watching "pa pa ya" i have to say i was not expecting what i found at all. you can see a clear progression of talent from the time they were 12 and 14 to the beautiful young ladies they are today. SU-Metal is such an unbelievable performer and after watching her sing "Akatsuki", the unfinished version she performed at the same venue this was recorded, i just had to buy tickets to their show next month. i cant wait to see if they continue their journey in the future as babymetal when their tour ends in march but i also want to see Suzuka progress to possibly writing her own music. if she can draw emotion for a song she didnt write with little life experience to draw from, imagine what she could do with her own stuff.
The band in this video is actually not the same band, these guys are actually just for looks. They’re not playing at all except the drummer, but they are not the Kami-band

Just got back from a concert a few days ago and WOW. Experiencing Babymetal live with a crowd full of die-hard fans is like nothing I've experienced. The energy was insane. You're going to have an amazing time! 🤘🏾
Don’t they just make you happy? The adorable, cute factor quadruples when you realize Yui and Moa were only clocking in at around 4’ 10”, and Suzuka towering over them at 5’ 1”! 😂💪🏻🤘🏻

Nice reaction. Babymetal is very very varied. You'll hardly find two songs that sound the same :). There's a song for everybody in them ! If you want more of Moa and Yui, should checkout BBM songs (song 4, Gj!, Onedari Daisakusen, Sis Anger).

I think it works because although they have a Jpop background, there is a metal core inside the girls waiting to come out. Su-metals dad played in a rock band for 10 years in his youth. Her gandfather said Su was always a rocker, and would get in trouble at home for singing too loudly.
Yuimetal went to see Su-metal play in a concert in a former group she was in as a youth. She was in 3rd grade, and the photo of her had dressed in in black with skulls. I don't think any 3 girls could have pulled this off, but these three could.
I saw them a few weeks ago in Boston. It was AWESOME. Avatar was fun too. I highly recommend concert ear plugs. They let clear crisp sound in without the volume. It's loud as hell.
This is the one I showed my mom & got Her into the band. I've been a fan for a while & thought I'd just show her what I'm into. We spend like 2 hours watching their live stuff on TH-cam right after.
Needless to say my mom is a big fan now xD

@@autohmae Ive mentioned SG to BJ before. They are the Idol group where babymetal originated from, they were the Heavy Music Club back then.
This is their most well known song (as you might guess from the view count of the original video), and if I'm not mistaken, they have played it pretty much on every show (with the exception of one of then two nights at Tokyo Dome, where they played the whole catalogue spread over two nights). You'll love it live, although it gets much criticism, it's still a crowd favourite, you'll see everyone getting nuts.
The three Avengers rotating to fill Yui's spot are Fijihira Kano, Okazaki Momoko and Sayashi Riho. I can't say much about the latter except that she was a member of Morning Musume, but the other two are / were members of Sakura Gakuin, the idol band Su, Moa and Yui graduated from. And every single girl coming from that group is a Superlady in her own right. The "teachers" at SG are doing a fantastic job at teaching them and, more importantly, helping them develop their characters. I'm seriously impressed by every single girl in that group, they are admirable human beings. Momoko is one of my (if not the) favourite (ex-)members. If you see her live, you'll see she oozes charm, she integrates perfectly.

Riho is from Hiroshima and only a half year younger than Suu. Riho was also attending ASH.

In the early days I think it was more of a fusion of Pop and Metal. I recall them describing themselves in that way. I agree that Gimme Choco is like the pop and metal elements exist in the song as separate entities. More recently, it has become more of a blend. Sort of like its been stirred together.

This was first exposure to Babymetal. I don’t usually watch Colbert but that night I just happened to turn it on right when they came on. Been hooked ever since. Every time I watch this performance It just makes me smile.

Really great reaction from you again . Dont worry the magic is still there. Can not replace Yui but the 3 rotating girls are doing great job and the fans are giving them lots of love as well . Not only are Su and Moa still cute but in my opinion breathtakingly beautiful and the charisma is overwhelming.

I was up close to Riho's side in Chicago and she did amazing. I am going to KC tomorrow and LA in Oct too so might get to see Momoko as well. I don't think Kano will come to any US shows since she's so young and has SG stuff going on.
I just attended the St. Paul show, my first Babymetal concert, and it was everything I was hoping for!
Good reaction video. This is the song that started it all for me. I was on a bleary eyed battle with insomnia and doing the Alice in Wonderland trip down the TH-cam rabbit hole, clicking link to link when I came across this video. I had never even heard of Babymetal, so just based on the quirky name I had to click it. It was like my brain hit speed bumps while flying down the information superhighway. I literally had to watch it like 3 times for it to sink in. I had a serious WTF moment. But I realized it was quite good. So I did the search for Babymetal and it has been a a heck of a ride over the last year! I even saw them in Orlando live on the 4th and it was a great show. Really really really want you to check out Black Babymetal song Onedari Daisakusen. Su takes a break and lets Moa and Yui take over (with dancers) on their own. It is super cute! The song roughly translates to "Operation Ask Dad" where they are using their kawaii ways to get what they want. It's a completely different feel than what you have seen so far from Babymetal. I really think you will enjoy it. Thanks for the video reactions, you are one of my favorite reactors!

Yes ! Their passion to perform is authentic, Babymetal would not work for metal heads if this was some corporate idea and they just had some pop singers who a 'just there to sing' like it's a 9 to 5 job they couldn't care less about.
If you want to see a Babymetal song where the pop and metal are less integrated, their very first song: Doki Doki Morning MV or second iine MV (yes, with double i, not L).
But I would recommend to react to some more songs which they play at the concert, in this order by order of importance for the show/interesting to talk about: Megitsune, Pa Pa Ya, Shanti Shanti Shanti

I recommend the performance of this song they did on Colbert's Late Show. The only Japanese band to ever appear on an American TV show. This song was my first Babymetal song I heard and I’ve been sucked into the foxhole ever since. It’s their most popular song and probably the one that caught the attention of most of the folks curious about this band.
You might enjoy watching them performing it on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert back in 2016. It’s their first appearance on American television.
One of the most refreshing qualities of this band is how each song doesn’t sound like another, as you astutely noted. Due to this each subsequent reaction you do will feel fresh.

This is the studio track over the live 'Legend 1997' concert footage (December 21st, 2013) which celebrated Su-metal's 16th birthday.
The live version sounded great, IMO they could have used that for this video.
The concert started off with the "Baby Bones" (guys in skeleton outfits) miming playing instruments, including this song, but the live Kami Band finished the show with a five song encore.
Of course their backing band is always live these days.

It can hold up to 18,000 for concerts, but it depends a lot on the stage setup.
They're not selling any of the seats that are behind the stage or too far back on the left or right to see it.
That takes away about a third of the total area.
And of course there's that runway that goes through the middle of the main floor in the standing area.
That looks very promising. : )

This video is an studio overdub, using the musicians that became their touring band. The skeleton costumed "players" are not playing their instruments
For me the most impressive moment is when Moa and Yui run back to Su and go into their dance so smoothly!
I have read, and have even had a link posted for me to see,but on the U.S. tour that's going on now, they have a totally different band playing. From what I read in the link,a couple of the guy's have been in the same band before. I was kinda bummed to find out that the guy's that have been playing with them aren't touring with them now.

While this one is one of their most "Poppy" songs, its the one that Blew Up on social media and brought them into the world music scene consciousness. That also meant that they started to receive world wide criticism from the "Metal Purest" that "They are Not Metal Man!". And thus the true journey by this little idol/metal group started towards their eventual acceptance into the World Metal Scene and validation that they belong.
And not just belong, but leading the way forward in a genre of music that even the "Metal Purest" agreed had become quite stale. That's something special in any area of the performing arts!

This song is almost like the official introduction to Baby Metal. This the perfect fusion of Japanese pop/idol/metal/awesomeness, and it's a Live performance before a Packed arena. As you said, IT WORKS! A buddy of mine posted this video on FB back in 2016. Due to my ignorance, I brushed it off as "Oh, it's just a Japanese thing". (Yeah...messed up, huh?) . Now we newbies, in 2019, watching Baby Metal performances from Years ago, and now appreciating (but more importantly) Enjoying their videos/songs. I love that you used the word FUN in this review. If Baby Metal makes you have Fun, then they are indeed doing it right. For years now. LOL! Great reaction as usual, its obvious you enjoy what these girls have done to music. FYI SU was born in 1997 and Moe and Yui in 1999. In this video (2013) Su would be turning 16 and Moe and Yui around 14. Since the girls have been performing since they were very young (I think I read they all starting around 8 or 9) and when they were in Sakura Gakuin until each one "graduated when they were 15, their lives revolved around performing, so they've had a lot of practice to build the strength to do what they do.

Not super important, but the audio was from the studio recording overlayed onto a live performance. The babybone band was miming although the girls sang live at the show. I think this might have been the concert where the kamiband was introduced for a 5 song encore. The same as the Headbanger video you reacted to.

The Kamis did a five song encore, but it wasn't their first BABYMETAL appearance.
They did two songs at 'Legend I', three songs at "Legend Z', and seven songs at 'Legend 1999'.
Also a few short sets at festivals in Japan leading up to 'Legend 1997'.

From even a earlier stage, you have "Doki Doki Morning"(the very first Babymetal song) and "Iine!"( the second one) and again, if you never heard it or saw the videos, you will have more shocking surprises, but always wonderful and fun moments for sure. Peace & Chocohearto!

I have good and bad news for you about the Arizona gig:
Bad: Unfortunately it seems likely you WILL be getting the US "Kami Tribute Band" musicians.
Good: After obvious first night nerves at the Orlando gig, their playing has improved to a reliably consistent (adequate) level: the guitarists and drummer are pretty good....just don't expect any jaw dropping virtuosity from the bass player!
Hope you have fun anyway....please vlog your concert experience and give us a detailed review :)
Doki Doki Morning already got some attention overseas, even on some metal news sites. but nothing compared to Gimme Choco of course.
Always entertaining to watch one of your Babymetal reactions.😁👍 The energy level at their shows is easy to explain. They give their energy to the audience and in return the audience returns that energy multiplied. You mentioned seeing more involvement by Yui and Moa in this song, you should react to a couple of their duets, without Su. They refer to these duets as Black Babymetal and they afford Su a chance to rest. I think that Yui and Moa are at their most kawaii singing Onedari Daisakusen from the Legend 1997 concert.

I guess one of the reason they do the three Avengers rotation is for the supporting dancers to have time to catch up. Just guessing.
Moa and Su have been doing this for so many years. The level of strength required for doing this is not something everyone can simply jump in to.
The first show Riho did with them at Glastonbury , you can see Riho trying to catch her breath at the end of the show while Moa looks perfectly comfortable. 💀 💕 🏴 🏴 🏴
