Glad to see it's back up. Tougher to watch without the video, but fortunately by this point I know it by heart :) Not sure if anyone answered your question about the words being real ('Zukkyun... Dokkyun') - they're sound effects, basically the Japanese equivalent of 'bang bang'. In context, they seem to be referring to the sudden onset of a chocolate craving in the heart.
Have you ever listened to this japanese band : Wagakki band : ( Homura; Senbonzakura;....) ? You xill be more than surprised ! (I do not tell you why) then if you like metal, try "ensiferum Niata polkuja taileen (live)" or "In extremo : ai vis lo lop"
BABYMETAL hits hard. This song is one of their older ones and probably the lightest... They go much heavier. Most people will say to do Road Of Resistance. And that’s a good suggestion. Then at some point soon you need to do Headbanger....that song will get you pumped. It’s my favorite.
It's always fun watching first time listeners being totally confused by Babymetal. Especially when Gimme Choco is their first experience. There really isn't too much to say about the song. It's about wanting chocolate but worrying it will make them fat. This is one of Babymetal's fun songs and it is a banger to hear live. Somehow it's even heavier live. They have silly fun songs like this, they have party songs like Pa Pa Ya and Da Da Dance, then the have serious stuff like Road of Resistance, Rondo of Nightmare, Distortion, etc. Gimme Choco was one of their earlier songs where they fused kawaii (cute) Jpop with heavy metal in a way that they alternated from one to the other. As time went on the two genres have mixed more into a blend. They will try any sort of metal from thrash metal to Viking metal to rap metal? to Bollywood style. They weren't welcoming us to the mosh pit. That was the mosh'sh pit. That apparently is a friendly form of moshing where you are not trying to break bones. More like friendly pushing and shoving. They have fans at their concerts that age from 6 to 60 so anyone is welcome.
Have you ever been in a mosh pit? It’s not friendly pushing and shoving, it’s bash into everyone as hard as you can and not giving a shit if you get bashed up in the process
This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill-the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill-you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the FOX hole goes.
The words the two girls (Yui and Moa) are singing on the verse part are onomatopoeia of the sound of shooting a pistol or a gun. ("dokkyun zukkyun)". That's why in their choreo, you see their hands formed up like guns.
The song is about a girl liking chocolate but worries about her weight. Next should be Road of Resistance Live in Japan but it gets blocked a lot so you have to stop ever 45-60 seconds and talk a bit. The Legend of 1997 Head Banger. Fun facts about this song. It was named one of the most important metals songs of the last 10 years. The Red Hot Chili Peppers have performed this song with them, one of the members of Korn snuck on stage and joined then when performing this song. Metallica likes to sing and dance to this song back stage at festivals with the girls. In a recent interview Corey Taylor of Slipknot was asked who he listened to at home and he said BabyMetal. They have performed Pain Killer and Breaking The Law with Rob Halford of Judas Priest
Good first reaction to BABYMETAL. Are there different sounds, is there anything you will be surprised by ... oh yes! Nearly every song they do is different - Gimme Chocolate is one of the most poppy songs they do and one where the metal and pop are most obviously different elements within the song (that is deliberate but it is not one I would recommend to a metalhead until they have heard at least 5 or 6 more to get an idea of what they are about). It has the highest views because it gets the most WTF reactions, so people recommend it for that reason. It is a long way off being their best work. Gimme Chocolate is just a fun song - they want chocolate but are a bit worried about their weight - but its chocolate and it would be so nice, so can they have a piece. They have other fun songs, they have more that are deeper - usually with a positive or uplifting message. They play virtually every genre of metal (thrash, speed, power, death, black, prog, folk and so on), but blend that in with the Jpop aesthetics and countless other musical styles and genres (ska, reggae, dub step, EDM, Bollywood, rap and so many more), often when you least expect it ... and they do it so well that somehow it works every time. For your next reaction I would recommend something I think will be more up your street, but is still something you won't have seen or heard before. 'Headbanger' live at Legend 1997 th-cam.com/video/QEsOaMbNFww/w-d-xo.html This is from the same show but has the live audio (Gimme Chocolate has the studio audio) and the live band (the guys in skeleton suits you saw were miming to a backing track - this was one of their last appearances and the live band, some of Japan's very best session musicians who can play anything, have been ever present in all live shows since soon after this show). Legend 1997 was a show celebrating the lead singer's 16th birthday in December 2013, the other two were 14. They started in 2010 aged 12 and 11, they will celebrate their 10th anniversary later this year
Grington300 300, it's not really a "fun" song. There's two interpretations, both of which have a darker element to them (no pun intended). The first is that the song presents the struggle of young Japanese girls and woman to uphold certain familial standards in a shame culture, and how it affects something as simple as a desire for a piece of chocolate. The second interpretation is based on history. "Gimme Chocolate" was a common phrase Japanese kids used after WWII when they saw American soldiers (think of the finger-guns they show in the video). Poverty and hunger were rampant in those days. Somehow, kids learned the phrase and started asking American soldiers for chocolate (I guess they were passing it out already). That, however, became associated with western culture's infiltration in Japan and so, Gimme Chocolate also became a concept of accepting culture outside of the Japanese culture they already knew. Should they accept it? Shouldn't they? it's tempting, but can I really? That, then is turned back on the group as Baby Metal, of course, is based on a Western style of music. So, whichever way you take it, it's not really a "fun" song.
@@MrMeraby Yes I am aware of those interpretations and maybe the lyricists had those things in mind, but Su-metal's own take on it is that it is about girls who like to eat chocolate but are worried they may gain a few ounces - but it is chocolate and they want it anyway. That and any other interpretations aside, the delivery and performance of the song are fun ... so it is one of their "fun" songs.
@@Grington300 that may be true as well, and it kind of aligns with the first interpretation. But it might also be a young girl not catching the deeper meaning that she would have a couple of years later (if she was younger when she shared that interpretation).
Every song from Babymetal sounds different so you might be surprised with almost every song they have :D But I think you should definetly listen to "Babymetal - Road of Resistance Live in Japan" next.
This from Legend 1997 concert dated December 21, 2013. 2 other songs from this concert you should react: - Headbanger th-cam.com/video/QEsOaMbNFww/w-d-xo.html - Death th-cam.com/video/jRc9dbgiBPI/w-d-xo.html Gimme Chocolate went viral around Feb and Mar 2014, with support of BabyMetal fans the Sonisphere organiser booked them for a smaller stage. Then online flame war ensued arguing if they are worthy to be there. The flame war grew so intense plus their sold out for The Forum, London concert tickets (7 July 2014), that the organiser bump BabyMetal to main stage by May. This is a stage where people throw bottle of piss towards bands they don't like. So when BabyMetal went on stage, they are definitely worried. After this performance, UK became their biggest market in Europe. This is their last song of that performance. BABYMETAL - Ijime,Dame,Zettai - Live at Sonisphere 2014,UK (OFFICIAL) th-cam.com/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/w-d-xo.html
Ijime, Dame, Zettai Live sonisphere 2014, Akatsuki live Budokan, Headbanger at legend 1997 are all fantastic to give a shot. If you like Dragonforce, they helped with Road of Resistance, which has a live performance also from Legend 1997 that's a lot of fun. Gimme Chocolate is definitely one of their most gimmicky songs, but since it went viral, it is (unfortunately) the intro to them for many.
The words in the verses are onomatopoeia for gunshot sounds. I have no idea why, though. Some people see a connection to WWII, after which Allied soldiers in Japan were often asked for chocolate. I don‘t see why they would use that in the song, though. It‘s literally just about wanting to eat chocolate while also worrying about one‘s weight. I guess it could be interpreted as dealing with social pressure in general. I think we can safely agree that the lyrics in this song are nothing to write home about. That doesn’t mean that that’s always the case with BABYMETAL, though. There are some aspects about this song that represent BABYMETAL pretty well, like the combination of heaviness and catchiness. As you said, to many first time listeners it’s surprisingly heavy, but at the same time it might also be surprisingly poppy. Nevertheless nothing seems out of place, the fusion works very well. There‘s also the entertaining dancing and general positive attitude that you‘ll find in pretty much all of their songs. It’s all about having fun. Other aspects may give a somewhat wrong impression, like the overly simple lyrics. Also, this early into career they weren‘t playing with a real live band. The skeleton musicians were fake, the music at the show (minus the vocals) was coming from a backing track. In addition to that, this video was actually using the studio audio. Once you see some real live footage with a real band you‘ll notice that it’s even better. A lot better. Their catalogue is very diverse, but the song that represents them best (IMHO) is „Megitsune“. Perhaps you‘d like to check that one out? th-cam.com/video/dU38CYkpBvI/w-d-xo.html Since you didn‘t seem to hate Gimme Chocolate, I‘m pretty confident that you‘ll fall into the foxhole by your third song. :-) BTW, kawaii means cute.
MacTaipan You’re right! It does sound like a machine gun. That’s it; I’m now fully in with Flugelhorn Old Man’s view (as I interpret it anyway) of it being Koba’s bid to erase the memory of the terrible situation or perhaps, to show those who lived through it how far they had come as a nation. Anyway, silly or sublime I love this song.
Here's another thought I had regarding the social pressure interpretation, although it might be far fetched: Perhaps the gunsounds could be interpreted as society forcing you "at gunpoint" to keep a slim figure?
Babymetal - Death (The Legend of 1997) is probably their heaviest stage production. Gimme Chocolate is like a fun(ny) kids metal song on purpose. They started the band when they were 10-12 years old.
The best advice I can give for Babymetal going forward - this song (specifically this video) is the first introduction for most people. Going forward from this, I STRONGLY believe that Babymetal is best experienced as a live performance. Road of Resistance (Live in Japan) is a great second step and a great live performance. Ijime, Dame, Zettai (Sonisphere 2014) is another great performance - this was the final song of their first real show outside of Japan, and is considered to be the real introduction of Babymetal to the rest of the world. Nobody in 2014 had really heard of them - quite literally since they didn't have any distribution deals outside of Japan. My final suggestion is for when the inevitable "I want to see more of the band" feeling comes - Rondo of Nightmare (Mischeif of Gods intro). That one will give you a huge appreciation for the musicians that are behind the girls.
This one is probably their less "serious" song and the most poppy sounding. Is chocking for first time reactors which is kinda the point when people suggest "gimme chocolate". The lead singer is incredibly talented this song doesn't show much of her vocal skills. The band is formed by some of the greatest musicians in the metal scene and their live shows are easily among the best. I recommend checking other songs before any conclusions. Cheers.
good thing about Babymetal is alll their songs are different. they created the cute metal genre. the band was started with Su the lead singer first then the other two girls then the band. the more you watch Babymetal you will find out why us fans call her a Queen. she can sign any kind of genre and make it her own. they do so many different styles of metal.. most on paper should not work but they make it work. been a fan since 2013 and have to listen to them every day. they are fun and make you feel happy. live is where they shine. live sounds better than cd. Su has stage presence at a young age. very few can top her.
It seems you'll be surprised by pretty much everything BABYMETAL can throw at you. They touch base on a lot of styles and so they don't really have a definite way that could explain their sound, except it has Metal. But if you dig, there's a lot of good tracks, and especially good lives. I'll recommend Road of Resistance as it is DragonForce type of Metal, package wrapped in BABYMETAL, it delivers! There's lots of cool stuff that these 3 girls did since way back late 2012, live. Most of their tracks are fast paced, which gives credit to their drummer :) Guitar work is always on point. Overall very pro act.
⚡ 💀 💕 / 🍫 💝️ This whole concept of combining JPop/Idol music with Metal could have been a disaster, but the quality of the singing, songwriting, choreography and staging take it to another level. 'Gimme Chocolate!!' is definitely one of their "poppier" tracks. They have been joined on stage for this song by members of Korn, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and DragonForce. Not all at the same time of course. : ) Looks like you've got plenty of great suggestions for follow up songs.
I agree on the Road of Resistance and Headbanger suggestions. I almost always suggest those as the 2nd and 3rd videos people need to watch, in that order. I got really worried for a while there, about BabyMetal's evolution. They wouldn't be cute little girls forever and the question was were are they going to go next? Well that answer, much to my relief, is they went to BxMxC! A great evolution of the band, that took a few stumbles along the way, due to health problems, heart breaking band member losses and simply where could they go from Kawai Metal? My worries have been allayed and I am quite confident that they have found their new path and it is as impressive as their original path.
5 long years ago I ran into this song and at the end I said, "I need to see more of this band." Just like you did! It's a wonderful journey if you choose to go down the foxhole. Put up your Kitsune and ENJOY!
and here you have one of the officially top 10 most important songs of the last decade. dont underrestimate the girls. theyre professional singers from a girl band just discovering a new genre. thats why their choreography is so dope and their singing A+ . combined with a backing band where everyone else trying to learn their stuff just surrenders. suzuka the singer was crowned rock goddess of 2017. and yea.. I have massive respect for her talents. they dive into all types of genres recently. doing indian sounds, she even raps , go thru more eletronic tunes and whatnot. please react to road of resistance cause the crowd control of that live in japan video is so sick!
They have way heavier than this :). Gimme Chocolate is a fun song and a fun first experience but it certainly does not prepare you for what's next. I remember the first time I watched this I had a similar reaction to yours. I'm a metalhead and lemme tell you - they're the real deal. I can confirm that they have moshpits at their electric shows. And a tip before you continue along on your journey of discovering them : they're much better live. In fact, they have won several international awards for "Best Live Act" - beating bands like Nightwish and Rammstein in the process. That is no small feat and it's also totally deserved. Electric atmosphere, top-notch musicians, amazing crowd interactions and mesmerizing dancing that is an intricate and brilliant way to showcase what the songs are about aswell as cues for the crowd to interact : jump, shout, throw fists, mosh... It's truly an experience and BABYMETAL should always - when possible - be enjoyed live. Some people like to call their act "Metal Theatre"... And I tend to agree. :)
BABYMETAL is not something to expect, you just experience. They are literally the only band I know of who can sing a simple song about food and make it so epic.
> "I'm ready!" That's, what they all are saying... LOL
> "They have a very planned dance routine." In fact, they have a distinctive choreography (to use the right term) for every song. And they have 40+ regular released songs by now. They already have three studio albums out: "BABYMETAL", rel. 2014 (studio album) "Metal Resistance", rel. 2016 (studio album) "Metal Galaxy", rel. 2019 (studio album)
> "I gonna have to hear more." Definitely! You want some recommendations? Here we are (and there is much more to discover): *"Ijime, Dame, Zettai"* live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 in the UK th-cam.com/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/w-d-xo.html *"Karate"* live at Download Festival 2016 in the UK th-cam.com/video/qXF94RGYEmw/w-d-xo.html *"Rondo of Nightmare"* live at Nippon Budokan in 2014 th-cam.com/video/8WBDiLMNZcE/w-d-xo.html *"Syncopation"* live video compilation th-cam.com/video/uZ11JUZM8V0/w-d-xo.html *"Road of Resistance"* live at Saitama Super Arena in 2015 th-cam.com/video/zTEYUFgLveY/w-d-xo.html *"Shanti Shanti Shanti"* live at Glastonbury Festival 2019 in the UK th-cam.com/video/w5AlEavdipA/w-d-xo.html And believe me, they are best experienced live!
Definitely check out their live performances, Su's (their vocalist) ability to stay on pitch while dancing and jumping around is EXTREMELY impressive. Karate and Megitsune live are my personal favourites!
Why does anyone thats never listened to Babymetal drop into the Fox hole with this song? Virtually every TH-camr does lol. As has been said, there arent really any BabyMetal songs that sound exactly the same, however once you listen to them you start to understand them, and then start to like them. It usually takes 2 or 3 songs for most people to get hooked in. There are a multitude of fantastic songs, however their owners just LOVE to block videos on copyright (I guess they think they are now so big they dont need publicity - there is no patternt to who or what they block either, there are reaction video's that have been up a long time, with over 800k views that is allowed, yet someone can upload a reactionand its blocked in hours). As for other songs to listen to, heres a few of the big guns:- Road of Resistance - th-cam.com/video/zTEYUFgLveY/w-d-xo.html Rondo of Nightmare (with Mischief of Gods Intro) - th-cam.com/video/8WBDiLMNZcE/w-d-xo.html Megitsune - th-cam.com/video/cK3NMZAUKGw/w-d-xo.html Karate - th-cam.com/video/GvD3CHA48pA/w-d-xo.html Headbanger Live - th-cam.com/video/QEsOaMbNFww/w-d-xo.html Pa Pa Ya - th-cam.com/video/m_FHvFknP04/w-d-xo.html BxMxC (pronounced BMC) - There arent any official vidoes, but this fan cam is probably the best of the cams - th-cam.com/video/BjNHAZAAQug/w-d-xo.html One thing to mention, nobody really mentions the Kami band when talking about Babymetal and these guys deserve a huge amount of credit for producing some phenomenal music. The drummer is insane :). Anyway, Welcome to the Fox Hole, we are all friendly down here.
People react to this song because it’s THE Babymetal song!! It’s quintessential. It’s the first to go viral. To be quite honest, without this song, there would be no Babymetal right now. This song made them viable to Amuse inc. It blew up and Amuse new they got money on their hands. Don’t forget Babymetal are still an idol group operated by Amuse. If they don’t pull views and are able to sell ticket and records, it’s over. So the more people check out this video the better.
Not what you expected? Here's a free advice: drop your expectations before reacting to a BM video because each of them is different. I mean each song is a different metal genre. Mixed with a different not metal genre. When it's not, it's a genre that didn't exist before. Karate is djenty, Road of Resistance is speedy, Megitsune is folksy and cultural, Rondo of Nightmare is extreme, you should start with these. Later you can dive into the heavier stuff such as Doki Doki Morning and Iine! ;)
Lol "Later you can dive into the heavier stuff such as Doki Doki Morning and Iine! ;)" Indeed, one has to be ready before being introduced to those early masterpieces! Kitsune up, Po!
Nightwish has 'Ghost love score'. Jinger has 'Pisces' Baby metal has 'Gimmie Chocolate'. It's the song that asks you, are you ready? And that is the reaction that reactors have. 'Karate' will be fine for your next step.
Those words were a mix of real words and roots of words, kind of like the Beatles' "Oh Bla Dee Oh Bla Da Life Goes On Bra". That is the parts sung by Yui and Moa. The verse and chorus by Su are all words. This song does not have a lot of lyrics, but what it is about is a girl wants chocolate but feels pressured to maintain a certain body image. Honestly, it is not the most representative song for the group. Try Megitsune or Road of Resistance, or Ijime Dame Zettai.
Road of Resistance or Akatsuki are my other two fav's to watch. Road of Resistance is an EXPERIENCE of just epicness and insane crowd control. Akatsuki gets to show off the band that plays for them's talents at the forefront and the main girl, Su's vocals.
Yes!!! Megitsune, Headbange -live at Makuhari Messe. Karate- official Video. Road of resistance-live in Japan. The first ones you need to listen to understand them and their followers.
This song is definitely one of their most poppy songs. None of their songs sound the same and most go a lot harder. Just be warned, you have begun your free trial period of BABYMETAL. You are one song down of your three song trial. Once you hit song 3, you will be hooked and down the "fox hole" as we fans call it!
Don't stop, cuz every song is different. They cover so many styles. The only constant is their energy and the fun. I went from WTF?? to I'm a fan for life in just 2 or 3 songs! This will be one of the most awesome experiences in your life (musically). Have fun and welcome to the foxhole! Any questions? The BM fans always help cuz we are THE ONE (as they call their fans), so just ask. Especially Grington and Rick wagner know a LOT.
I dont comment much. BabyMetal gets me commenting. My initial reaction was similar. Heard Gimme Chocolate first and was put off, but could not deny the hook. The band slams and the kids are on point. So Iooked em up and listened to more. Karate, Headbanger, Catch me if you can, these tunes pulled me in. I started to feel that although a fully produced and manufactured group, they still managed to create something special. As I followed along and listened more, I realized there is some serious talent here, some real heart, and I was actually watching something special evolve. Recently I began to worry that with major tragedies and group changes, as well as the girls growing up and losing their innocence, this would turn into pure mass produced bubble gum. I was wrong. Their latest work is killer. BMC is just plain bad ass. Sue and Moa are really coming into their own. Follow them dude. You wont be disappointed.
Shocking transitions are the usual on Babymetal. They come from making music for kids so they know how to hook your attention changing rithm and melody all the time.
so if this song had any effect on you be warned: it only gets better and better from here. this song is like the biggest risk for a first reaction. many ppl are so shocked they wont continue with their other songs. but just to make it clear: gimme chocolate isnt meant to be serious :)
I've just watched a girl reacting to Babymetal Death as her first song. And she loved it, almost cried. If you are open to explore new things, big risks don't exist.
Great reaction bro! Definitely one of the most unique and talented bands of this generation. You need to know that no Babymetal song sounds like the next. They infuse all kinds of music styles with metal and do it in such an amazing way plus the band members (kami band) are world class musicians. The lead singer (Su-metal) is also quite good which you will see in other songs. This is a band that really shines above all others live. Arguably their best live performance is "Road of Resistance - Live in Japan" which is a song co-written with Dragonforce. Another absolute banger is "Megitsune" which I recommend watching the Official music video because it kicks ass. Looking forward to see what you think of their other stuff even though I'm already sure you're gonna like it.
Ooooh, does it get heavier and different. Strap yourself in as the ride down the foxhole is a roller-coaster of different genres. You may love some and you may hate some, but it certainly is worth the journey. Great reaction btw.
Great reaction!! Your face when they start the singing is priceless man!! This song is about a girl to want some chocolate but she don't want to gain weight just like that hahaha and is one of the songs with the most WTF is this!?? Reaction's... If you like it wait to see some live performance they are an amazing live band please react to Babymetal Road of Resistance live in Japan and watch what they can do with a 22,000 sold out crowd... Just pure greatness!!
I'm a little late to this, but my personal favorites besides Gimme Chocolate and ones that I have seen reaction videos of the most are Karate, Road of Resistance, Rondo of Nightmare, (with the intro. Don't forget that. It's very important) and Pa Pa Ya. As others have said, everything sounds a little bit different, so you have to keep that in mind going into each individual song. I fell down the fox hole about a week ago myself, and I can't get enough of it.
😳😲 BabyMetal?!.. 😖😉👍 Wowee! Glad that you react to BabyMetal and you may not believe me but trust me, their songs are awesome and epic performance when they do on live. 😏Even thought I'm not Japanese but still, I love to watch this band on the internet. Honestly, there are more Japanese Bands that you should check them out like Band-Maid or others out there. Keep it up 👍 and Good Sunday morning. :-). from 🇵🇭
I guess I am the only one who wasn't introduced to Babymetal by Gimme Chocolate. Catch Me If You Can was the one and it made me confused as heck. Now they are my favourite band of all time
Since you reacted to BabyMetal, a lot of people are going to start recommending BAND-MAID, myself included. BAND-MAID are an all female Japanese hard rock group. They are incredibly talented and you should check them out. I recommend their song "DICE" to start. Another one is an all female Japanese power metal band called LOVEBITES. Their song "When Destinies Align" is insanely good. You'll be blown away. Then there's Unlucky Morpheus, a Japanese neo-classical power metal band. Their song "Black Pentagram" is a supreme show of talent. Looking forward to future reactions. Thanks man.
They are definitely worth checking out. And I, personally, may add Wagakki Band, Ningen Isu, and Dir En Grey. The Japanese music market has much to offer!
Babymetal does full on dance routines for every song they do in concert. Get ready, Babymetal is gonna take you through every genre of metal. They do them all in their own Babymetal style, Kawaii metal. I tend to think of it as the fun version of what ever style they happen to be doing.
100% do more Babymetal reactions. Every song is different and their live performances are insane. It only gets better from here, you will not be disappointed! Welcome to the fox hole!
Hahaha, watching people's babymetal first time with Gimme Choco is like watching your son trying its first steps and hopping they don't hurt too much. One thing you need to never forget, is that they have around 40 songs, not a bad one, but there are sounds for plenty of tastes, don't stop if you find some you don't like, ask for something different and the comments will answer you with kindness. Happy journey.
Got another one :) !.. I saw them them in Tokyo when they were support act for Guns n' Roses. I got there a bit late trying to get across Tokyo and had ticket for the pit...walked under through the basement into this - felt like a flying double kick to the chest.
Babymetal is first and foremost a band that excels at live shows, but I'd also recommend their official music videos. Most of them are quite fun (one of my early favourites is still Doki Doki Morning, but Karate is also very, very good).
nice reaction !. Kawaii Metal means Cute/Adorable/Innocent Metal. I love BM. They are really great band. They do a lot metal genre (speed, thrash, death, frog, etc) mixed jpop. And they had best japanese musician played behind them called Kami Band (God band), like God guitar, God bass, God drummer. Plz do next reaction. I suggest u - Road of Resistance Live in Japan - Headbanger live legend 1997 🦊🦊🦊🤘🤘🤘
It was my reaction at first as well. Gimme Chocolate might not be a good start for newbies to get into Babymetal since some people cant handle the "kawaii" cuteness mixed with metal. But, that's basically the point of this band. They introduced a new genre of metal that no one expected would work. I've been a fan of them for 5 years now and I can tell you Babymetal is one of its kind. You should check out their others songs as well. Especially live performance. They will blow your mind.
you are entering BABYMETAL Universe , please do enjoy your journey. different ? ..... they have 40+ songs in 3 album and not once their song sound the same , their albums is like encyclopedia of music genre around the world.
Excellent reaction, & great look on your face after lyrics start - believe me, we've all been there! But be advised, "Maidens, should never be underestimated" - you'll understand this later. From billboard.com, October 2019: BABYMETAL Becomes First Asian Act to Rule Top Rock Albums Chart with 'METAL GALAXY'. For the first time in the 13-year history of Billboard's Top Rock Albums chart, an act from Asia ranks at No. 1. Hard to believe that original BABYMETAL members Su-metal & Moametal, now 22 & almost 21 years old respectively, will be celebrating the band's 10th anniversary this fall. They're all about energy, performance, & FUN. Now that you've encountered 'THE ONE', you'll learn as much, or as little, as you want to know about BABYMETAL. We're an engaged, passionate, highly knowledgeable fanbase that is as age & ethnically diverse as you'll find. Most agree BABYMETAL is best experienced or viewed LIVE. That said, the Official Music Video of KARATE is one of a few exceptions to the rule. th-cam.com/video/GvD3CHA48pA/w-d-xo.html Also recommend: Rondo of Nightmare (With Mischief of Gods Intro) Live @ Budokan Black Night 2014 th-cam.com/video/8WBDiLMNZcE/w-d-xo.html
I love the way you can see the gears grinding away in your head during the first stanza. If I didn't know better, I'd say I thought I saw smoke coming from your head. Great job of sticking with it. You are about to embark on a beautiful journey. Have fun. Try to remember this. You'll think back on this day when you're in the pit at your first BabyMetal concert. PS Be prepared to say "WTF???" many times, as none of their songs sound the same, but all work really well.
babymetal is weird because they go into different subgenres but when you hear it you definitely know its them. id highly recommend checking out Headbanger and Megitsune. Gimme chocolate and the other two songs i mentioned pretty much sums up what babymetal is all about in a nutshell.
Im a 50 year old metal head who grew up on maiden and priest. Babymetal to me are awesome. They have the kami band who are about the best musicians you can get. A great next song would be ROAD OF RESISTANCE official. This really shows what they are about.
You'll get a lot of requests for Road of Resistance Official Live and Rondo Of Nightmare. But those are the two trickiest videos to react to. They get frequently blocked. Babymetal has a ton of great songs. I'd recommend - BABYMETAL - AKATSUKI「紅月アカツキ」BLACK NIGHT HD1080p th-cam.com/video/g2372C5PJLM/w-d-xo.html Or you could go with Megitsune MV or Pa Pa Ya MV. Those are safe and great too. Babymetal doesn't make bad songs or song that sound the same.
I'd personally recommend either Megitsune, official video or live at Budokan Red Night th-cam.com/video/PUkzu1IJW4w/w-d-xo.html, or Headbanger live at Budokan Black Night th-cam.com/video/I2vuKOmd1js/w-d-xo.html as a next watch. Though any live performance of theirs is great, those are just one of my personal all time favorites here on YT. If you want something of their recent stuff, then PA PA YA!! official video is the one to go with. The official video of Megitsune was my first encounter with BM and it pulled me straight down into the foxhole. There are a lot of awesome BM songs, but Megitsune will always remain my favorite. During the concert I went to, it was very obvious it was one of the crowd's favorites too along with Headbanger, PA PA YA!!, BxMxC and Road of Resistance. The place was already on fire during all the songs, but with those, things really EXPLODED.
Welcome to the rabbit hole that is baby metal. They are referred to as Kawaii (or cute) metal. They are a combination of J-pop (they were all at one point j pop stars) and metal. Their sound has no bounds. Literally every song they come out with sounds different. Karate is probably the one you will really enjoy (djent sounding), Road of Resistance is also great (power metal song they wrote with dragonforce), and Starlight is another great one which has a more standard metalcore sound to it! These girls are super famous and have done everything from opening up for Iron Maiden and Metallica to singing on stage with Judas Priest! Definitely check out some more of their stuff! Each song will be a new surprise as their producer encourages the girls to go on their own metal journey and they work with their band to write songs that sound like the current form of metal they are interested in!
The song is basically about a girl trying to hold herself from eating chocolate (but she eat it anyway). That "cho-cho" could mean "just a little bit". Though, some of the lyrics are not actually words, probably just onomatopoeia.
Yes, they are real words that describe a quick feeling of excitement that you feel in your chest, like when your heart skips a beat. Been living in Japan for 10 years, trust me bro.
I never recommend Choco first but I'm glad you're here. Road of Resistance, Live in Japan is a great example of their range, and let's be honest, it's goddamn epic.

It’s a shame we can’t see the video, their choreography is always so impressive!
Glad to see it's back up. Tougher to watch without the video, but fortunately by this point I know it by heart :)
Not sure if anyone answered your question about the words being real ('Zukkyun...
It’s my favorite.
its ok its a noob babymetal song. let him start from the level 1 song
It might be one of their most kawaii songs, but it's surely not one of their lightest!
Headbanger is great - the best version for me is the live version "Legend 1997": th-cam.com/video/QEsOaMbNFww/w-d-xo.html

React to: BabyMetal Legend of 1997 Headbanger and Enjoy!!
Yes, Headbanger!!!

They started in 2010 aged 12 and 11, they will celebrate their 10th anniversary later this year
So much great info. Thanks
Wow, thank you for this comment! 😲

This from Legend 1997 concert dated December 21, 2013. 2 other songs from this concert you should react:
- Headbanger th-cam.com/video/QEsOaMbNFww/w-d-xo.html
- Death th-cam.com/video/jRc9dbgiBPI/w-d-xo.html
Gimme Chocolate went viral around Feb and Mar 2014, with support of BabyMetal fans the Sonisphere organiser booked them for a smaller stage. This is their last song of that performance.

th-cam.com/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/w-d-xo.html
BabyMetal Legend of 1997 Headbanger or Ijime, Dame, Zettai live at Sonicsphere 2014 (both live version ofc)
"I'm going to have to hear more of this."
Welcome to the Fox Hole, brother.
Perhaps you‘d like to check that one out? th-cam.com/video/dU38CYkpBvI/w-d-xo.html
Since you didn‘t seem to hate Gimme Chocolate, I‘m pretty confident that you‘ll fall into the foxhole by your third song. :-)
BTW, kawaii means cute.
Try Babymetal - Headbanger

A lot of fun to be had here! Every song is different! I’m a long time Judas Priest fan and love Babymetal!!!
Not to forget: Rob Halford performed together with the girls on stage!
Steffen Jachnow Yes, won’t he be surprised!!!
@@javis8810 I, certainly, was. And I was very pleased, though I'm more of a casual fan of Judas Priest.

This whole concept of combining JPop/Idol music with Metal could have been a disaster, but the quality of the singing, songwriting, choreography and staging take it to another level.
'Gimme Chocolate!!' is definitely one of their "poppier" tracks.
They have been joined on stage for this song by members of Korn, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and DragonForce.
Not all at the same time of course. : )
Looks like you've got plenty of great suggestions for follow up songs.
This was filmed when the main singer ‘Su’ was 16 and the other girls were 14 :)
5 long years ago I ran into this song and at the end I said, "I need to see more of this band." Just like you did! It's a wonderful journey if you choose to go down the foxhole. Put up your Kitsune and ENJOY!
And BABYMETAL is one word all caps.
and here you have one of the officially top 10 most important songs of the last decade. dont underrestimate the girls. theyre professional singers from a girl band just discovering a new genre. thats why their choreography is so dope and their singing A+ . combined with a backing band where everyone else trying to learn their stuff just surrenders. suzuka the singer was crowned rock goddess of 2017. and yea.. I have massive respect for her talents. they dive into all types of genres recently. doing indian sounds, she even raps , go thru more eletronic tunes and whatnot. please react to road of resistance cause the crowd control of that live in japan video is so sick!
This is my 8 yo son's favorite song right now. He may not know the words(we are American and don't know Japanese) but he sure appreciates it
"Catch me if you can". Very nice too.
Except for Karate and Megitsune. Need to see the official videos first.
They've made serious way since then, check some of their other materials, there's plenty online, and they are VERY popular worldwide now.

This was my first Babymetal song. Absolutely loved it from the get go.

Headbanger, Megitsune, Akatsuki or Ijime Dame Zettai are heavier than this one :)
Catch me If you Can and Gimme Chocolate are my top favorite songs from Baby Metal. These are so metal for me.
Babymetal is a kickass metal band fronted by 3 J-Pop girls. They have the Rob Zombie Metal Seal of Approval.
Definitely recommend their songs Megitsune, Karate and Road of Resistance
my queens, babymetal
road of resistance- karate - distortion - pa pa ya- Ijime,Dame,Zettai
Shocking transitions are the usual on Babymetal. They come from making music for kids so they know how to hook your attention changing rithm and melody all the time.
so if this song had any effect on you be warned: it only gets better and better from here. this song is like the biggest risk for a first reaction. many ppl are so shocked they wont continue with their other songs. but just to make it clear: gimme chocolate isnt meant to be serious :)
I've just watched a girl reacting to Babymetal Death as her first song. And she loved it, almost cried. If you are open to explore new things, big risks don't exist.
@@xanax-hl4kk cool post her link here please :)

For Babymetal, always do live versions when possible :P
P.S. Been watching you other reactions for a while now but I just official subscribed.
It's a crunchy distortion guitar with pop sounding melodies. The reason they fascinate me is because they're so adorable.
What happens when young girls write a song? Gimme chocolate. They just love chocolate. It inspired them. 😂😍
This guy´s reaction is pure gold.
:-). from 🇵🇭
Baby metal reactions for first time listeners are the best.
Watch more, give it another chance. Every one gonna tell You that this song it's the intro yo this world but they have much more.
The look on your face when the initial vocals kicked in was pretty much priceless, but also expected for a first time blind viewing.
Oh man. If you go down the Babymetal foxhole you are in for one hell of a ride. Many unexpected twists and turns.
I guess I am the only one who wasn't introduced to Babymetal by Gimme Chocolate.
Catch Me If You Can was the one and it made me confused as heck.
Now they are my favourite band of all time
Next song to get a full babymetal experience has got to be 'road of resistance' official video
BABYMETAL - ROAD OF RESISTANCE, Live in Japan
Babymetal does full on dance routines for every song they do in concert. Get ready, Babymetal is gonna take you through every genre of metal. They do them all in their own Babymetal style, Kawaii metal. I tend to think of it as the fun version of what ever style they happen to be doing.
Their music is all awesome. Love baby metal!
Your face when girls start singing was priceless :D
Excellent reaction!
_Also, welcome to the FOXHOLE_
I suggest u
- Road of Resistance Live in Japan
- Headbanger live legend 1997 🦊🦊🦊🤘🤘🤘
They have a very well planned-out everything. Keep going......
You now stand at the rim of the Fox Hole and have taken a peek inside.
Careful!! The Fox Hole runs Very Deep!!!
Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!
Listened to this countless times, still don't know what to make of it, but I think I'm addicted - Old School Metalhead
you are entering BABYMETAL Universe , please do enjoy your journey.
different ? ..... they have 40+ songs in 3 album and not once their song sound the same , their albums is like encyclopedia of music genre around the world.
Excellent reaction, & great look on your face after lyrics start - believe me, we've all been there! But be advised, "Maidens, should never be underestimated" - you'll understand this later.
From billboard.com, October 2019:
BABYMETAL Becomes First Asian Act to Rule Top Rock Albums Chart with 'METAL GALAXY'.
That said, the Official Music Video of KARATE is one of a few exceptions to the rule. th-cam.com/video/GvD3CHA48pA/w-d-xo.html
Also recommend: Rondo of Nightmare

I love the way you can see the gears grinding away in your head during the first stanza. If I didn't know better, I'd say I thought I saw smoke coming from your head. Great job of sticking with it. You are about to embark on a beautiful journey. Have fun. Try to remember this. You'll think back on this day when you're in the pit at your first BabyMetal concert. PS Be prepared to say "WTF???" many times, as none of their songs sound the same, but all work really well.
Baby metal is one of the best metal bands recently, I really love them. !!
React to PA PA YA or KARATE !! :3 greetings from Mexico
babymetal is weird because they go into different subgenres but when you hear it you definitely know its them. id highly recommend checking out Headbanger and Megitsune.
I'd recommend - BABYMETAL - AKATSUKI「紅月アカツキ」BLACK NIGHT HD1080p
th-cam.com/video/g2372C5PJLM/w-d-xo.html
Or you could go with Megitsune MV or Pa Pa Ya MV. Those are safe and great too. Babymetal doesn't make bad songs or song that sound the same.
I like your the expression on your face while you were watching BABYMETAL'S performance
The song is all about how people get forced not to eat like in modelling etc, it’s real words ❤ Please give me chocolate please please please
Though, some of the lyrics are not actually words, probably just onomatopoeia.
road of resistanceを是非リアクトしてください‼️
Yes, they are real words that describe a quick feeling of excitement that you feel in your chest, like when your heart skips a beat. Been living in Japan for 10 years, trust me bro.
I never recommend Choco first but I'm glad you're here. Road of Resistance, Live in Japan is a great example of their range, and let's be honest, it's goddamn epic.
