- Welcome to Outfitter Tales, episode 8!
This week we’re thinking ahead to the hinds season and we’ve got a tricky sika and red deer stalk for you.
Losing his edge? Rab’s getting all stroppy and will show you his top tips to maintaining a razor sharp edge to your knife.
Bushcraft, we’re Liam (Primal Nomad) is back with us and knocking up some lovely foraged food
And finally, we look at the Hawke Endurance scope… can you use this value scope for deer stalking? Rab gives you the low down.

Great stuff gents, liked the knife sharpening segment in particular, new to me! Thanks
Excellent another kindred spirit of the 'one shaved arm clan'..lol
I have never seen these leather blocks used before, certainly look to be very effective. Worked in abattoirs and butchers shops all my life, all we ever used are whetstones and steels.
Brilliant episode to watch, particularly the sharpening as its always great to see other techniques. Definitely learnt some pointers.
Great content.
Keep it up guys. Great episode
Great show guys - I have the same hawk scope on a 22 year old 308 tikka rifle and it works brilliant also I’m in the market for a new knife So will be watching to see how you sharpen n maintain your knife
Yet another great show. Liked Rab's bits on knife maintenance and scope review. Keep up the good contents
Love the show guys keep them coming.
Another great show guys 👍
Look forward to the thermal review.
Thanks for the review guys I also have a bald arm 😅😅
Keep an eye out for future episodes mate. 😜
Hi Chris,
I was up in the borders last week and shot one Roe, gralloched it and laid it to cool off for a short time while i finished my stalk. On returning 1 hour later the Raven had BATTERED it (back end, ribs and entry and exit pecked out) ...my second one i hung up in a tree and by the time i went to collect in the truck a buzzard had smashed the liver ...you had this before? I have since been told to put an empty bullet case on the carcass and nothing will touch it..... any thoughts?
Never seen knife sharpening like that were can you get it
Anyone caught making a fire in any FE forest in the south of England it's a £100 fine ! Especially during the warm seasons !! Otherwise great skills 👌
Great advice! This was a private estate for reference, it's always worth seeking permission rather than forgiveness 👌
Well done guys, very informative as usual ,👏👏
