- Nanny is Preparing for a visit from her two brothers from New Jersey next week ….and their talks on the telephone are all about nostalgia, favorite foods and memories of years ago. In this video Nanny makes a Sunday morning Del Taco Run, does her first food shop in 2 months … makes potato latkes… and digs out her mom’s recipe boxes and old photos. ❤️

Oh I adore that family history. The kids are so lucky to have those! In here we have snow too and its more cold than I can take. It's about -24°C to -4°C. Varies week by week.

Good morning Nanny. How exciting that it is almost time for your brother’s visit. When you speak of nostalgic conversations, it is completely understandable. At our age we tend to go back to the comfort and memories of our past. It is what we know. We can have hope and anticipation for the future, however, that is uncertain. We don’t know what the future will bring. So it is more comfortable to remember. Your recipes and photos are treasures. What a blessing to relive the memories and to see your mother’s handwriting. My new room is almost finished. I am behind on everything because my life has been on hold while the workers are here. Fingers crossed that by the weekend everything is finished. My mom (93) was just saying yesterday, that she never thought to ask her parents questions about their lives before her and siblings came along, she's sorry about that. I'm not sure it was a big thing back then, in Ireland anyway. Now we are much more curious. Anytime she starts talking about her memories I hit record on my phone (on the QT, as don't want her to be self conscious) and they will be precious to have. Not that she's going anywhere anytime soon, we hope!

I'm looking forward to you showing your snowflake pudding which I never heard of. My mother was a fantastic cook. She was Dutch Irish. I try to make her dishes but it never works out for me. She lives in Alabama and was school teacher. She hit it big on TH-cam during Covid. Name is brands gantt . She just finished her second cookbook I believe . I bet you would love her. Wanted to thank you for inspiring me with your clean out video. I cleaned out clothing and some of my vintage dishes went up on my eBay shop I won’t ever use. I also got videos of my vintage plate collections up on TH-cam so you got me to do stuff I have been putting off and I thank you. So glad you are feeling better. I love that coffee !
