    • @VintageKicksGallery

      It would be easier but then you have a board in between the air and the insole so the comfort just wouldn't be there. This method removes the stiff board and just replaces it with boost. Also, being the toe box is so shallow, the insole on top of the board would cause some issues with fit.

    You have the Ship of Theseus paradox when you do that. I mean, there's no other reason to wear 35 year old Jordans than to flex...but if you're replacing pieces here and there, are you really still wearing the 35 year old jordans? Are you really flexing?
    Why not use a more recent trash model, versus something vintage and historic? You can't recreate time, and you basically murdered a pair of vintage and historic kicks. Terrible.

    • @VintageKicksGallery
      @VintageKicksGallery  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn't exactly call it a flex as far as wearing them to get clout/impress others. There's something special about wearing 85's. I think it's similar to driving a classic car. The recent models just don't compare to the OG's in any way to me unfortunately.
      Yes, there's definitely an element of concern as far as making them unoriginal. That being said, they needed a sole swap so they weren't going to be original again. I definitely see your point though.

    • @RetroKid
      @RetroKid 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VintageKicksGallery I get you...but let's be real, there's no real reason to drive/wear anything outdated or vintage but to flex. You could wear vintage kicks, just like driving a classic car, but just like anything else, it loses utility because it's older and more delicate or prone to damage. No hate on you, or what you do, sir, just heartbreak from seeing such classic shoes be destroyed. I mean, if you think about it, those shoes, at that age, are all slowly being lost to time, and to accelerate that loss by butchering it is kind of a waste. You could have done the same thing to a recent model and still accomplished the same goal of an AJ with boost midsole and it would have been no big deal since they are readily available.
      Anyway, I respect your collection, I respect your hustle, and as an old and retired sneakerhead myself, I guess I just have flashbacks of my own "customs" that killed shoes I wish I still had but decided to modify to either break necks, be different, or get attention.

      @@RetroKid as a car guy, and driver, driving a classic car isnt' about the flex if you are a true car passionate.It's a feeling that u just do not get from modern cars, and it really is a different experience. I assume this extends to classic sneakers and sneaker heads.

    • @RetroKid
      @RetroKid 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@atillacoskun7825 well that's where the car and sneaker analogy many not work, because while the feel of a car is distinct (smooth and computer controlled versus manual shifting and hearing the rumble of a specific engine as it goes through it's paces), the only difference between a classic Jordan and a current version of the same model is the material and colorway. It could be cheaper leather, or a slightly different toe box. But things like the cushioning and tech have all stayed the same, especially in the AJ1. Adding modern tech to a vintage sneaker, if you want to go with the car analogy, would be like chopping up a Model T and giving it Tesla guts. The question would be why. The reason it's got value is because it's showing its age, as an indicator of value.
      Anyway, at the end of the day, he can do what he likes, and like I said, more power to him. I just think cutting up an antique when he could have accomplished the same outcome with a more recent colorway is a waste of a shoe that there will slowly be less and less of. He mentioned that concept in a video for an air max colorway, and I thought he was spot on with that observation.

    I did it to mine with some boost-like insoles to a 94’ pair, def way more comfortable, I can imagine an actual sole swap would be better

    Try Hefe lux insoles, the have thin and big insoles.

      Yo! I saw you swapped a pair with a rep sole. I've been wondering if they would fit for a long time.

      @@oliversplace263 I can't wait to give this a try! If I am able to do an order for just soles without the uppers are you interested in getting any?

      VintageKicksGallery possibly! Let me know what the cost is. I’ve thought about doing that as well. I don’t get nearly as many 85s in as you do though!

      @@oliversplace263 I'll let you know when I get some pricing/availability. I wanted to see if they'd make a batch of them with cream midsoles as well but the minimum order might be too extreme. That being said, I have over 20 pairs to do in my pile still..

    when you say you went up a full size, are you talking about the sole for the sole swap?

    • @VintageKicksGallery
      @VintageKicksGallery  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was referring to the stamped size of this pair. They are 11.5's and I used a size 11 sole. I'm a TTS 10.5. I was unable to get these on without my toes being smushed before the shoe stretch.
