@@SupersuMC Pretty much. I personally think anti-minor drinking laws are kinda silly, especially when the minimum age is well above the driving and voting age.

@@lostpunk12 There was an immediate backlash and the initial, fairly restrictive law (it did more than set a minimum age) was softened when the backlash essentially lost the people who passed it their seats in the legislature. I would imagine that set a tone for a while whenever people considered passing more restrictions. Immediately after prohibition, a lot of states and counties passed their own blue laws and dry ordinances to do what prohibition had done, but that also faced backlash and has been dismantled, particularly over the last 60 years. (It was still a hot button item in the 80s and 90s when I was young.) The federal government also passed the 1984 National Minimum Drinking Age act which set a mandatory minimum of 21. That kind of set a floor for all state laws on alcohol, so the difference between states on alcohol laws is now kind of small. I think what has Wisconsin considered the "loosest" is not in consumption of alcohol but how young people are allowed to sell it, which honest seems kind of horrific to me. Not so much because of the alcohol handling but because it's encroaching on child labor.

Honestly yeah they should still allow dueling. Funny thing though a few years back I seen something along the lines of wax dueling pistols but it requires a mat like vest and face shield. Its for fun mostly but why not have both. If its of little issue, wax pistols and one waiver so you don't get sued. If both parties agree that it's something that requires blood be drawn, two waivers and one shot per-person and both participants have to pay for their own ammo, its to act as a last second effort to get one or both party's to de-escalate. Heck just a good old fashion bare knuckle boxing match (3 rounds, 10mins each).

If one thinks that is a cool and epic party, one should look up the Field Day that Walt Disney had for his staff for the success of their film Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. The party was so epic and wild that the term 'Having a field day' came about from that event. The fun started when the workers haven't heard about their bonuses yet while having not been payed in a while, and Walt Disney mentioned that the three day weekend will include an open bar. Everyone presumed their bonus was in the open bar, so they went out of their way to enjoy their bonus to their heart's content. Of the many hijinks, one that stands out is one person somehow getting a horse on the third floor and running it out of a window and into a fountain down below. Of the positive things to come out of this is the look of Mickey Mouse. When making the fliers, the person who made them was not one of the people that normally animates Mickey Mouse, which he drew with an iris and regular eyes instead of the classic original black dot look. The person that heads the department that animates Mickey Mouse casually asked if this is how he is drawn now. The other guy responds 'Maybe?'. They both chuckled and it just stuck since it happened to look good.

If I were to hazard a guess there probably wasn't that many drinking laws in the 1820's, and if there were they were relatively lightly enforced. Drinking laws probably started showing a lot during the temperance movement. Those laws sought two things, one to keep the earnings of the father tied to the family by encouraging that fathers should keep better watch of their money and two to keep alcohol out of he hands of innocent children. For children (people 21 and under) the sale of alcoholic beverages was barred, during the temperance movement, but there was a loophole that allowed alcohol to be put into medicine. Alcohol was barred from being the primary ingredient in medicinal products in the 1930s (I think).

I saw students whose school was getting out for the entire day at lunch and they were bringing CASES of beer and the occassional bottle of liquor because "everyone believes they are a trained bartender", back to their rooms every SINGLE day. The first time I saw this it was on a Tuesday. I was going back to my room for a few minutes so I could change uniform attire because the schoolhouse was unusaully warm that day. This berthing I was residing in was also occupied by BUD/S dropouts and they were going out of their way to show off their "skills". The only thing keeping the party from getting to the point of the Egg Nog Riot every night was the Master-at-Arms berthing down the sidewalk, the K-9 facility up the road and the Special Unit who also resided on this base was about 3/4 miles away. In response to your dueling question: The state of Texas has a mutual combat law. Not quite the same as a pistol duel, but still a way to settle a dispute physically without going to jail. Lol You have to do it in the presence of a police officer that has agreed to oversee the fight and you can't use weapons.

I was told something like this, but not nearly to this extent happened on fort Campbell in the early 2010’s where people from two battalions were playing sports, got into a fight, the MP’s came and the infantry dudes just teamed up on them. Apparently got into a big fight and they used tear gas trying to disperse the dudes but they had their gas masks and just kept going. I never looked it up to see how true it was but considering 2nd bde was moved out by the airfield away from where they were, we had to sign out our masks everytime we used them while my buddy in 3rd had his 24/7, and I noticed multiple mp’s came to every call in that area whereas other parts of base I would only see that happen if like an mp saw a stop they’d turn their lights on and pull up too, I just assumed it was at least partially true lol
The thing with Poe is that this was when he was under an assumed name, before his marriage to his cousin, historically speaking it wasn't the south but the north eastern states who had more people from areas in Europe (which at this time is basically England and not continental Europe since the French and others looked down on it) originally okay with marrying one's cousin as an option (which is always ignored/forgotten over the popular modern created narrative of it was just the "dumb southerners"), it wasn't until the 1840s or so when the governor of Massachusetts wanted a study on idiots (the mentally disabled) which led to the result after a few decades of a study suggesting it can cause problems in offspring (which for completeness apparently some other studies showed different results) resulting in various states eventually working on banning first cousin marriage (apparently there's a thing called parallel first cousin marriage, tldr a man marries his cousin on his father's side and a woman on her mother's), of which the eugenics movement didn't take part in since they thought the legislation was too crudely made. It is quite the rabbit hole.
Dueling should be allowed but not to the death. Instead a "duel" should be in the form of an organized combat sport like boxing, wrestling, or mma. The duels should follow the actual rules but should be to ko or submission, no decisions, no round limit. To make it more exciting boxing and mma "duels" should be bare-knuckle. (Note this is a joke)
Could this happen today? As much as I would like to say no, that would be a lie. Maybe not something this over the top, but I can see something along this line happening.
I think dules should be legal but like lawsuits file it with the state they approve it the other person is served a place time and date are set if you can't get a pistol one will be provided for you
I think if two adults want to settle a dispute and want to dual it out then they should be able to, and if they tell everyone where at and the time so if people wanna show up to see then yeah, it should be legal because they both agreed upon it. Yknow, it’s consensual lol I also believe if you’re considered as an adult at 18, yknow have to pay taxes, joining the military and what not, then I think you should be able to buy whatever, like alcohol and stuff like an actual adult, to me you don’t actually become a “true” adult until 21 nowadays. Can’t buy cigs, alcohol, or handguns, etc. literally just a few years ago you could buy cigs and vapes at 18, now you can’t. I mean I’m 25 so I barely made it before they made that stupid law but cmon, seriously? If we can join at 18, we’ll 17 with parental consent, then I think it’ll be alright if they wanna have a smoke or something. Look I’m a patriot and I don’t like hard drugs but that stuff isn’t hard, well not cigarettes and vapes at least. This is why I don’t like federal government, they try to take over everything because they have too much power.
Us southerners never said we were smart we just simply say we don't give a fuck 💀🦅🇺🇸if they had the Confederate battle for an emoji id use it too but they dont .
The military has changed over the years from soldiers learning to sleep with their rifles to care for them like their lives depended on it to the military putting all weapons under lock and key and permitting the soldiers to touch them only when absolutely necessary let alone the restrictions on ammunition, which has to be accounted for even after it has been shot.
Since you asked... my opinion on if we should be allowed to duel. Absolutely, but not with guns, knives, or swords. I think that mutual combat to settle a dispute ought to be legal. Sometimes there are situations where diplomacy breaks down and violence becomes the only means of settling an argument. This is especially true if booze is involved. Yknow, in modern times there's this real lack of respect, most folks dont know what it's like to get punched in the face, i fully recommend it. By the time you're a grown man you ought to have been punched in the face at least once and have punched someone else in the face at least once. The kids that grow up without this experience end up mouthing off to the wrong person, have none of the skills to back their words, and get really hurt. Maybe if they knew if they could take/deliver a punch or not they'd be more respectful. My opinion's probably biased though. I'm a biker and former bouncer.
i say stick with the guns. at least that makes a duel kinda fair. fistfights are usually weighted towards whoever has the size and reach advantage. skilled fighters can overcome that sure, but we're talking about letting neighbors hash it out. not mma guys grappling over a belt.

2:05 In a way, i kind of do want dueling back. I personally wouldn't do it, but I think a lot of people would stop their BS.
Yup sounds like MERICA! You appoint the guy to lead who ran the party lmao 🤣 i havent been that guy before at all….. lmao!!!! Bet those dudes didnt care to lead but saw the ppl he had to roll out of their puke and went…… GOD DAMN! FINE ILL DO IT!
BRING BACK DUELING! The challenged selects the weapon. The duel is set for the sunrise two days following
Ding dong ditching is still a thing in my neighborhood.
Mutual combat laws still exist in some states.
Yes, 16 and up, and you should be allowed to duel
3:54 Is that Jeremy Clarkson?
We can have nonlethal duels. Using chalk rounds and face protection.
Would I watch a duel as long as I'm not the one getting shot and I don't have to go to court for it sure I'll check it out
Yes... I think Dueling should be viewed as an approved provision of the Arbitration Act.
Is it me or does that picture of Benny Havens look like Sylvester Stallone?
What people don’t understand is that this was when West Point was brand new.
Bring back dueling, but with a twist. Make ‘em play Yu-gi-oh! Hell, that’s technically already legal.
Yugioh dueling is like having to assemble your own gun on the spot before you can use it, while also preventing the other guy from doing the same
Dueling should be allowed but not to the death.
Joke though it may be, I’ve heard worse ideas.
I think duels should be legal. Two consenting adults, following rules to prevent injury to bystanders. Like a boxing match but cooler
Dueling= pro ✅
Mutual hand to hand combat= pro ✅
Could this happen today? As much as I would like to say no, that would be a lie. Maybe not something this over the top, but I can see something along this line happening.
Swords yes, pistols no.
Mutual combat is legal in some states. (Dueling, essentially)
Duelling...should be legal, so long as there is good video evidence of agreement immediately before the duel. "Mutual combat".
Dueling should be a thing, but no guns
Bring dueling back, but with swords/boxing! Gunfire tends to hurt bystanders. Duels absolutely should be legal. It might help bring manners back!
You should watch his video on Joe medicine crow. The last war chief. I think you could definitely make some commentary and background info on it.
2:25 yes but the US doesn't have an honor culture anymore.
Duelling at high noon again nice😂
Absolutely dueling should be legal but first lets make a fist fight not an assault charge
somebody gifted subs and i was lucky to receive one!
best gift ever!!!
Same here I wasn't expecting this gift. Merry Christmas everyone
Dueling, yes please!!!
Dueling would 100% be legal but instead of pistols, swords because anyone can shoot a gun not everyone can use a sword effectively
Extra History also does a fnu video of this incident
Marry Christmas!
Let me put it this way. Yes, lol 24:16
Shoutout to the Confederates! Huge W
I can't find your live show put the fat electrician you should review patton 360
I want to see MrTerry on the Unsub podcast.
I think dules should be legal but like lawsuits file it with the state they approve it the other person is served a place time and date are set if you can't get a pistol one will be provided for you
Bring back dueling
"Don't give a fuck" but still salty over getting their traitor asses kicked for 4 years straight a century and a half ago
Bring dueling back.
