As an Australian I grew up as a child singing this marvelous song as my mother played the piano, that was over 77 years ago, some years ago, when i turned seventy-five i decided to buy a trombone, bought a quality Yamamah with the F key and took lessons for about a year at the local conservatorium. I reached a stage where i was able to play "What a wonderful world" at my nephew's wedding when i was seventy-seven. Just after this i had a minor stroke and had to have a stent placed in my carotid artery and was told not to play for at least a year . The year went by and was still concerned about playing and it got to the stage where i just didn't get back to playing my beautiful instrument. After hearing this wonderful rendition of the "Floral Dance" I have removed the trombone from its case, given it a good polish and pull through, lubricated the slide and F key and will start having another go this afternoon, I am 84 years old now and if i die i die, but what a way to go, trying to play my trombone again!!!!!!!!!
Just discovered this and felt I had to congratulate the Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band. What an uplifting piece of music. Would love to see them play live
Great to see youngsters coming through keeping the tradition of the old Colliery Brass Bands alive! Years ago my Uncle was leader of Ellington Band in Northumberland, My dad played trumpet too, lovely to hear. Loved the film BRASSED OFF true to life and GREAT music!!
Nice. I had the single of this when I was a kid in Yorkshire. Now I am 51, living in Canada, and taking a trip down Memory Lane. Love this version. Thanks.
OMG - I remember this song and band when I was stationed at Check Point Alpha at Helmstedt, West Germany in the mid-1970s. The Brits had a radio station that we listened to. This song was frequently requested. I could not recall the band or song's name - thanks for the memories.
I remember when this song was first released, 42 years ago: it was a rather unusual creation among the pop music of those days, and yet it was a big hit. I enjoyed it very much, too. I must still have the single, somewhere :) And now you guys recreate it in a Covid-19-inspired fashion. Thank you so much, Brighouse & Rastrick Brass Band. You absolutely made my day with this!
Just found these compilations from B and R (and other bands) on youtube and find them fantastic - it’s great to see which musician / instrument plays which bit of the tune - it’s fascinating
Wonderful rendition. Greetings from Moonta, South Australia, Australia's Little Cornwall, where we celebrate Kernewek Lowender bi-annually, and our parades dance along to The Floral Dance.
Thank you so much, enjoyable, from an old tenor horn Player of Skelmersdale band in the 60’s, I still have the odd blow from an instrument I keep in the attic!
They say ‘don’t practice‘til you get it right - practice ‘til you can’t get it wrong’ - this seems a lovely example of just that by a group of musicians obviously enjoying their practice
HBD! ♥ Daniela Magálová (Daniela Alexandra Magal) ( 31. srpna 1966♥ SEMPER FIDELIS #QUA PATET ORBIS #JE MAINTAN DRAI ! ♫♪ great ♫♪♫♪♪☺ BRAVISSIMO @/bisbis 🎶🎵🎼 great music! a well tuned ensemble that sounds like an organ ! Fabulous banding! Compliments! #SEMPER FI #QPO #JMD🎵🎼🎼🎶🎵🥁🎺👌👌🙏🎺
1977 and the Silver Jubilee, I was 19, just out of the college. This went to no.2 and was kept of the top by Mull of Kynetire by Sir Paul and Wings. I have several copies of this record.😁
At the age of 8 I was promoted to the main band of Muziekkorps Karel van der Heijden in Zaltbommel. Finally taking my place next to my dad. Both playing the Euphonium. Few weeks later I was already allowed to join in a concert. One of the songs we played was Floral Dance. It was 1977 when this song was in our Top 40 in the Netherlands and a very popular sound. I still remember the feeling when the audience went "beserk" because of the sound of this song. It is in my top 10 favorite Brass Band songs. But sadly for you a bit behind Danny Boy.
One word ….

i love how the Sop slowly gets concert attire ready as the video progresses
If you are meaning the young lady who started out in the burgundy top, I do not think she was playing sop. Iirc the sop was male four years ago.
Many thanks for the lovely performance of the Cornish Floral Dance. Jim Sims Holywood Co. Down
Tenuous connection to the Floral Dance. The repiano player at the time, Martin McHale, was my teacher :)
