Well done guys. Nice video and good to see the Canarys being enjoyed as they should be and not just an ARC pit stop. Spent 7 months there in the late 70s and only brief visits since. Bonne chance.
Dear all! If anyone has any ideas how we can reduce wind noise at the editing stage, please let us know. Also do you find the footage jumpy when panning? Is there a way to reduce this at the editing stage? (All our footage is shot at 25fps because our laptop graphics card can only handle 25fps) Tech tips much appreciated. Thank you all for watching. Fair winds and calm seas.
Try sticking some thin foam around the camera's mic hole ;) Our GoPro cover is just black foam all around the camera and it helps a lot with the wind :) Fair winds!
Hi there Kittiwake! do you find our footage jumpy? Particularly on a panning shot? We have tried foam on the mic, but the holes are right under the lense and you can see it. All the best and fair winds.
Sailing SV Bora Bora hmmm that is annoying. I guess the only trick you can use is to keep the camera protected from the wind by putting your body between it and the wind. So shooting downwind, camera in front of your chest with your shoulders to the wind. When doing a selfie, try to protect the mic with one hand and hold the camera with the other, still shooting downwind. You may do this already, sorry. It’s good to remember to do it though - it makes a big difference. The other thing you can do is record the audio separately on some mobile phone mic headphones or a portable sound recorder, but it’s SUCH a faff to edit - we could never be bothered. With the panning, it’s not you 😊 you’re shooting handheld on a light point and shoot, so it can’t be stable. That’s what we deal with as vloggers - cheap equipment and shakey footage, but that makes it more real 😊 By the way my iPhone (6) is far more stabilised than my camera, so if you have an iPhone it’s worth a try. It really surprised me when our camera charger broke - I had to use my phone and the panning was much more stable on the iPhone. - Elena
Hey guys! Have just discovered your channel and enjoyed this episode immensely! Very professional, very informative and also very entertaining! Have subscribed and looking forward to more. The only part of the Canaries I have visited was Lanzarote and at first sight I thought it was horrible (Volcanic and so ALL black), but after a few days I grew to love it, so it was very interesting to see the other islands. (Yet more destinations on the ever-growing list of places to see...) Kind regards, fair winds and following seas, Mike
A long passage coming up,looking forward to watching😊 I can certainly relate to the challenges regarding accommodating/entertaining your crew member instead of just pleasing yourselves, very difficult for me.All the very best to you, fair winds, following seas and all that⛵️😊
Well done the islands are lovely I know that La Gomera road from San Sebastian :):),pity you did not come into San miguel Marina Tenerife as I am 5 minutes away but then again that marina was full due to the Arc as well
Loving you guys. And from the Exe too. All the little fixes you are doing are great to watch. I love how comfortable you both are with the camera. No pretention. Just sharing it. Superb.
Glen Ouellette. Hi Glen. Thanks for the comment. Wind noise and shaky footage is what ruins our episodes for sure. We hate it too and so much otherwise good footage has been deleted because of it, but we only have our phone cameras and a Sony handy cam and none of which allow an external mic. If anyone has any ideas how we can reduce or remove the wind noise at the editing stage, please let us know. It seems the only way to eradicate it is to use a proper camera with an external mic and a rat like Delos do, but that's 3-4k not the £150 we could afford the our handy cam. We had to choose, sat phone or camera and the sat phone one out! We will keep trying to improve things and I will make a public plee for tips on post capture techniques. I hope you keep watching. Fair winds.
Per Jorgensen hi there. Im not quite sure which piece you mean, but all the music is credited in the description below the video just click the down arrow answer it should appear. Thanks for watching and fair winds.
Sorry to sound like a know-all as I love and have followed all your videos but; Fuerteventura doesn't mean strong winds. The Spanish for that would be ventas fuertes. The name comes from some 17th or 18th century explorer who exclaimed that taking over the island would be a grand (Ad)venture; Una Aventura fuerte. Having said that, the island is quite windy at times as are most of the Canarias.
It’s like watching a real life James Bond and Wonderwoman partnered together battling the elements, so fun to watch. Big thumbs up from Canada!
не понимаю английский, но очень нравится за вами наблюдать. Вы - очень слаженный экипаж.
Beautiful boat ? I like yours more !
A little vino and Niki is a real giggly girl! Great vids I look forward to all the time.

Oh and 25fps is perfect - Hollywood films are shot at 24 :)

Wind is a shame. Can you put a dead cat over the end of the phone with the mic while not messing with the camera?
