KCS 4009 Saluting KCS Heros Leads 247, and More! Railfanning the CPKC Watertown Sub

Taken on 6/23/24 It is a mostly cloudy today as we adventure out on to the CPKC Watertown Sub. Today we wanted to try and catch KCS 4009 saluting our KCS heroes SD70ACe leading todays 247. But we had to come across 149 and 8WWA first. We saw that 8WWA was sided for 149 at Dodge West since 149 has higher priority over 8WWA. We caught both trains at Mohr Rd which is east of Doylestown, WI and we even recorded to 159.9 defect detector going off which is always nice to hear. This is still one of the original CP defect detectors that is still around and there are new CPKC ones being installed which sound completely different. After 149 and 8WWA we moved up to west of Columbus, WI as 247 isn't far off. We caught him at the Fall River Columbus Rd crossing which is always a nice spot to watch. KCS 4009 does have quite the interesting horn. This was my third KCS special interest unit that I have seen as it's always cool to see what other KCS special interest units they have to offer!
