    In the tiktok for thickening the paint they used corn starch, not flour. Corn starch is more fine, and would probably mix in better so your paint isn't as chunky. lol

      This is what I came hete to say! Cornstarch and flour are not the same

    • @IrisCrain
      @IrisCrain 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mommallama2142 Definitely not, as corn starch can create a Newtonian fluid, flour can't. I'm surprised though, as cornstarch usually requires heat to 'gel' - wonder how some of the other thickeners like konjac or arrowroot might work? Hmm, there's an interesting experiment...

    I remember when I was in high school art class I thought the salt on the watercolor was the coolest thing ever! I used it to paint Pokémon lol

    The salt on watercolor paint actually does work and can create beautiful star effects, but you have to use the correct water to paint ratio and you need to let it dry THEN brush off the salt.

      Sea salt and watercolor on 100% cotton paper is AMAZING!!! I use it all the time!

    I used to love using watercolor paint and I really need to pick it back up. The salt will add texture to you picture. You have to let it dry and brush it off. Also adding water to the colors and letting it sit for a few minutes will hydrate the paint for better use. As foe the cheap paint hack...it's cornstarch, not flour lol I THINK the flour will mold eventually. Awesome job! Thank you!

      🤦‍♂️ I believe I have botched all these testings...I have found from my video's comments that I did something wrong on each of the 3 experiments (they really should be a little more clear on those TikToks, lol)! ...Oh well, that's how you learn.🖌🧠

    • @kristajones815
      @kristajones815 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Art is all about learning! I bet the flour mixed with the paint would make an awesome "3D" painting! I've seen people literally make painting with all kinds of texture! I think you've inspired me though to do more watercolor on a tumbler though. And besides, if you can give another person inspiration, that's what counts. I k ow how much you like Bob Ross, and he was so inspirational and so are you. 😊

  • @cristinavergne1159
    @cristinavergne1159 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    That salt trick is pretty cool and works because salt draws moisture. The watercolors in the palette usually don't have a lot of pigment in them. And i wonder if cornstarch would make for smoother paints 🤔
    Cool video, tho! I'd love to see more like it!

    • @DuncanCustomAirbrush
      @DuncanCustomAirbrush  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      wait...cornstarch?!🤦‍♂️ I think that's what I was supposed to use - my non-culinary self thought they were pretty much the same!!

  • @Anon21486
    @Anon21486 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think the idea with the blow pen hack is to make sure the the piece you are blowing air into is funneled. The more the piece is directed to a single area, the less air is needed to make it work.

    Thank you for creating videos that are super creative and inspirational as well as a boatload full of fun! IDK about that flour in paint. Taylor! It might grow something😂. Better check on it in a week or two.
    The blowing through a tube will make me faint. I'm a big girl. Takes a lot to get me up. But it reminds me of the straw and india ink to make a tree I learned in elementary school. I still use the technique today.
    There is a shaving cream technique I found while in the papercrafting world. Bought some cheap shaving cream, but never used it. You might be interested in trying it cuz you a brave explorer. God bless and thank you. Now I go back to sleep with a smile.🥰🥰🥰❤️

    Awesome hacks, but I would literally pass out from blowing through the pen, but I heard you can also use a straw! Btw, did using the airbrush work, or no it didn't work? (I think my ADHD took over - look a butterfly, and I didn't hear if you said it worked or not?! Lol😂) I think The second one you did with the flour, it was supposed to be cornstarch!??!
    Love the idea & I never heard of the salt idea!
    As always awesome video Taylor! Thank you for keeping me entertained & educated! & Your right to much TikTok makes for a very unproductive day!! I've been guilty of it, but since I went on vacation and did not get on there as much while on vacation, I realized itt was consuming my days, instead of me creating and designing new things so I'm back to that way of thinking again! ❤ thanks again!!

    We used to use the compressed air line at work to blast people with Sharpies. We had the great big red ones and the air gun would make like a basketball sized circle of red on something/someone 😂😂😂

    Don't put the not-broken pen on the air compressor. The only reason you use the not-broken pen is to force your breath into a smaller stream.

    they used cornstarch, not regular flour. And all watercolor artists know the salt trick. The salt is applied at a specific point as the paint dries... my mother in law is a big fan of the salt thing.
