And for the most part Michigan beat it's opponents soundly enough where they always controlled the game - even despite immense distractions and a beloved Head Coach unfairly targeted by the NCAA, forcing him to "take" a suspension on behalf of the University because they did not have the grounds to actually name him directly (most idiots in social media are clueless). Can't say the same about ANY other teams record this year. Not a single one beat every opponent "going away". Most had serious close calls or late come back wins (I'm thinking of Georgia, Alabama, UW, OSU, etc.). But in the end, it only mattered that those other teams (mostly) won. That's part of what made this year special - Michigan did it "going away" no real close games where they were actually "outplayed". And they did it with "everyone" against them. Go Blue! Man did they deserve it and earn it!
The late Ken Stabler said, "if you can't run and you can't stop the run, you're going to lose the game." (Said after the Dolphins, en route to 17-0. beat the Raiders in the AFC title game by throwing six times and running 53 times.) Michigan had 38 rushes for 303 yards. Washington had 20 rushes for 46 yards. That's how the game was won.
I was told Michigan hasn’t seen an elite QB like Penix before. I told all you fans talking the smack Michigan’s defense is elite. I will say Penix Jr is a warrior though, he got beat like he stole someone’s money and he still ran out there.
As a UM fan, this was fantastic tonight. I expect us to step back next season, and Bama will roll over everyone on the ground. I love this channel, great analysis, and next season, the ship will be in the south!
Yeah I’d assume a lot of the guys are going to leave on a high note and this time I think Harbaugh will join them. Michigans best bet is that Harbaugh gives a decision immediately so that he or the new coach has time to leverage the transfer portal
HarBlow should have been fired for cause but there is no integrity anymore in the college institutions. Ok to cheat on your college exam? Nope, but this is football, so we make exceptions.
Bama isn't going far with milroe at qb. With a good thrower AND game manager at qb bama could be a threat . However a good d AND running qb only gonna take you so far . The SEC wasn't that good this year .
Congrats from a Bama fan. Michigan is a very talented, motivated, well coached, and most of all disciplined team, on both sides of the ball. Bama had their chance to deserve to play last night, but your guys made the plays when they had to, and our guys did not. Michigan has proven beyond a doubt they are the best team in college football this year. My hat's off to Michigan!
Michael Penix got exposed for the first time in this game all season. The plays Washington Offensive Coordinator was calling were great plays. Ryan Grubb had guys open all game long but Michigan’s D line was overwhelming Washington’s O line. This game showed me if Penix gets pressured he misses so many reads and forces so many throws. Pressure absolutely destroys his decision making and accuracy. So a good D line will destroy Penix that’s all I needed to know watching that game. He can’t perform well under pressure. He makes so many rushed irrational decisions and throws inaccurate passes or misses them completely.
Matt....you are the best sports analyst on TH-cam. You should be on television. I've watched every video you did this year. Can't wait until next year.
Bama Michigan, was not the de facto natty. The 2 best teams plsyed lsst night. The best tesm won. If Michigan had made all those mistakes against bama, it would have been a similsr result. As a Michigan alum Washington had a great year, Michigan defense made Michael look avg.

Michigan was legit this year. The good news is that I have more confidence in Milroe coming back after seeing that defense own a 6th year starter as well. If he studies film with that as the standard we could see a great qb next year

I’ll explain Harbaugh’s drafting ranked 18th. He’s doing what others aren’t and they will learn from him and catch on. Who would you rather have on your team? 5 star players right out of high school or high 3 star and 4 stars in the portal that have more experience and are key players needed as 5 and 6 year seniors. Harbaugh is treating this (portal players) like NFL business from his office. He’s a genius and this is very smart on his part. I think Harbaugh stays, he’s 60, a family man, had number of kids still in young grade schools, they’re settled and his parents both live in Anna Arbor and are in their 80s. It’s just too much of a big move to say pack up and move to San Diego or whatever. Go Blue snd Stay Humble Wolverines
As a Buckeyes fan, I totally get it. I felt the same way last year. The Ohio State /Georgia game was last year's real championship, and like Alabama, we came so close to winning it. Last night's game played out just about like I suspected it would. Tip of the hat to Michigan's defense. Those boys are ferocious!
As a lifetime Michigan sports fan, I feel like I’m living a fevered dream. UM winning the Nat’l Championship, the Lions taking the NFC North? What timeline am I living in? I’m so thankful, and I really hope more teams that have been suffering also have breakout years.
Michigan left a trail of devastation for qb’s. Ohio State, Alabama, Washington. All with a game manager at qb and unsung receivers. A legendary defence and great run game.
Penix is a great QB and was almost always able to get the ball away without taking a sack (only 1). But the pressure was obvious the whole game.... his options were extremely limited and rushed.
First off, Congrats to Michigan!! 🎉 Second, it was sad to see a blow out in the natty but usually that’s how it goes is one team every year gets blown out. I was hoping for closer games this year and the AL vrs Michigan and Texas vrs Washington games gave us that, this one sadly did not.
@@khrisstake2210 I’m a Bama fan but my friend is from Seattle so I didn’t have much choice once we got knocked out but I had a feeling Michigan was gonna win.
There were two extremely questionable holding calls in a game where they missed all of Michigan's holding. I was neutral just hoping for a good game but something was fishy about those calls which called back two big plays. Penix still could have done better and taken advantage of other opportunities but it was a closer contest to me than the score showed.
Matt...I agree...the Rose Bowl had that national championship feel to it. Alabama was a tremendous opponent, the only team to go beyond regulation with Michigan, and, by far, was Michigan's toughest opponent this year. It was one of the greatest games I have ever seen in my 40 years of being a Wolverines fan. Washington made it interesting, but the truth of the matter is, Michigan should have racked up more points than they did last night. Good luck to you during the off-season. You've shown a lot of class over the last 8 days.
@joshr6540 - To each his own...I guess. Everyone is entitled to their opinion...even when their opinion is vastly out of sync with the general consensus. And the general consensus is this: The 2024 rendition of the "Grandaddy Of Them All" was easily ONE of the greatest Rose Bowls ever played. There are so many people who agree with that conclusion (including Alabama fans like Matt)...so many news outlets...so many college football channels on TH-cam (SEC and otherwise), that it would take all night to list them. I have to believe that you may possibly be suffering "Sour Grapes" syndrome (especially if you are a Crimson Tide fan, or an SEC fan, or a Huskies fan). Most of M's mistakes were special teams' mistakes, but there were others as well. That's what happens in college football. And when you say there were so many mistakes, you seem to equate "mistakes" with a bad game to watch. That is a logical fallacy, in that the "one" does not automatically equal the "other." I would also argue that often times, the mistakes make for a more interesting...a more entertaining game. I, and those who watched it with me were on the edge of our seats. Take the 2006 Rose Bowl: USC vs Texas - Texas pulled off the upset in a game that is often proclaimed as the best Rose Bowl ever. That is the overwhelming consensus, by far. Fans believe that, even though there were 3 turnovers between the teams, and both defenses decided to not show up for the game, as there was over a thousand total yards combined. All of that, and college football fans still list that 2006 Rose Bowl as the best...an instant classic. So you are entitled to your opinion, and I am entitled to mine (of course, mine is the majority opinion by leaps and bounds). Now, you seem like a pretty good person, but I have to block you now...I just don't have time for a back-in-forth debate that will be fruitless for both of us.
It’s like FSU and Jordan Travis, hard to replace a QB that good but I agree. The game was out of reach for them at that point and he was still out there clutching his rib

Michigan dominated Bama on both sides of the ball, only reason the game was that close was because of mistakes on special teams. Much respect to Bama you are kings of the SEC no matter what Georgia trolls say, but nobody was close to Michigan this year, our defense this year was better than Georgia's a few years back. Nobody has given up less points in a year in the last decade. Big Blue had more rushing yards than Washington had total yards think of that for a sec, with a qb and 3 receivers who will play in the NFL that defense has been sick all year.
Love your take on this Matt because starting next season Washington USC Oregon and ucla are coming to the big ten so next year they are going to be facing more defensive minded schools unlike when they played in the Pac twelve wear defense was optional so all I have to say is welcome to the big ten
Over 300 yards is a statement, with that defense holding a explosive team like Washington to only one td. You can put this Michigan team up there with the last two Georgia teams as being one of the best all time championship teams of all time.
Defense wins championship…. Yet the best D in the country wasn’t let in cause their offense wasn’t flashy enough in one game w a 3rd string qb who wouldn’t have played in the Cfp. And then everyone leaves( I would have too) and a bunch of walk ons play starters and all the dummies act like that’s who that actual team was when in reality FSU will have more players drafted than UGA and none of those dudes along with the rest of the 2 deep played. FSUs defense would have shut down those teams in the playoffs. None of those offenses were a problem. It’s a shame. Go Noles…. That 1st round of the Cfp proved Texas and the Crimson Pies didn’t belong. Just a couple of 2 loss scrubs. Smdh. 13-0. Undefeated.
The best defense in the country playing in a weak conference. Noles would've lost even at full strength. The fact that their performance took a hit after the loss of their QB tells me their overall depth was paper thin. And that doesn't cut it against teams who have depth at the second and third levels.
Dude I hope you cry some more. If doesn’t matter who opted out you people act like other teams don’t experience this. Guess what, depth matters too. The committee gave FSU a chance to prove them wrong and they got 60 bombed
@@dantesinfernopurgatory7826 we rotated our D line like crazy and our two deep was exceptional everywhere. I don’t think you understand that we literally had walk ons and freshman starting who hadn’t played all year. Our starting Rb was a 6th team receiver lol. Our depth was good enough to win a Championship.
I still believe Georgia is better than Michigan but unfortunately we didn’t win the games that mattered most. BUT next year, we will be in the playoffs despite a 3pt loss in the last game of the season and bring vengeance with a month to prepare for whoever.

I kept telling Washington fans they ain’t seen a defense like this lmao. Also they weren’t gonna stop the run. Michigan was gonna kick their ass up front and what do you know? That happened and it could of easily been a blow out had Michigan not stagnated in the first half
I’m so happy we won I preyed we played him like we always did but I will say I’m glad the refs let them play most of the game cuz man my boys was holding out they ass #goblue
I keep telling people - those fancy passing offenses seldom work in PHYSICAL conferences like the Big Ten and SEC. Even the so-called lower tiered teams in those conferences are PHYSICAL. The new additions to those conferences are in for some serious growing pains. The line of scrimmage rules in the Big Two conferences. Defense is not optional here.
I'm tired of national championships not really even being that close. As a neutral fan, I just want to see more competitiveness. Since the Alabama vs Georgia national championship in 2017, the final scores have been: 2018- Clemson vs Alabama (44-16 Clemson) 2019- LSU vs Clemson (42-25 LSU) 2020- Ohio State vs Alabama (52-24 Alabama) 2021- Georgia vs Alabama (33-18 Georgia) note- actually a game I enjoyed watching 2022- TCU vs Georgia (65-7 Georgia) 2023- Michigan vs Washington (34-13 Michigan)
Bowl games do not count because teams do not have full strength in my rankings unless they make the playoffs because then they’re at full strength 1. Michigan 2. Alabama 3. Georgia 4. Ohio State 5. Texas 6. Oregon 7. Washington 8. Florida State 9. Missouri 10. Ole Miss
Michigan gets very 2 dimensional when holding ANY kind of lead......hard to complain with 15-0 but they really could've won all games by at least 10 with a more 4 dimensional attack.
Youre wrong. The bama michigan game wasnt the championship. Texas beat yall. They finished 3rd. MI , Wash, Texas, THEN bama. You came in last in the playoff.
GO BLUE BABY!!! I’ll be on a high all year long!!!! I told their fans that W’s offense was overrated due to awful PAC 12 defenses and they just got more cocky. Michigan is built different and that defense is no joke!!!

if the 12 team playoff was this year, the final 4 would be MI,AL,GA,OSU. It really doesn't solve much IMO. quit crying AL fans. MI ST kept you in the game, or you wouldn't even of been in that game. MI was the best team all year. SEC beat a bunch of teams that their players decided not to play, LMAO. MZ had 0 on OSU at the half with their D on the field the entire time and no qb. next year we're going to win again......
Nope, I'm bama fan, and it should have been UGA. UGA this year is better than Bama, just lost that 1 game. If UGA beats Bama, Mich beats Wash in semis, UGA kills FSU in other semi (committee would have picked FSU if UGA had beat Bama), and UGA beats Mich to 3 peat.

The late Ken Stabler said, "if you can't run and you can't stop the run, you're going to lose the game." (Said after the Dolphins, en route to 17-0. beat the Raiders in the AFC title game by throwing six times and running 53 times.)
Michigan had 38 rushes for 303 yards. Washington had 20 rushes for 46 yards. That's how the game was won.
Old school football is back.
I was told Michigan hasn’t seen an elite QB like Penix before.
I told all you fans talking the smack Michigan’s defense is elite.
I will say Penix Jr is a warrior though, he got beat like he stole someone’s money and he still ran out there.
🤣

The real national championship was played when Georgia and Alabama played
Cope harder
Matt....you are the best sports analyst on TH-cam. You should be on television. I've watched every video you did this year. Can't wait until next year.
But wait Michigan beat your ass
Bama Michigan, was not the de facto natty. The 2 best teams plsyed lsst night. The best tesm won. If Michigan had made all those mistakes against bama, it would have been a similsr result. As a Michigan alum Washington had a great year, Michigan defense made Michael look avg.
As a somewhat casual college football fan, finding your channel helped me stay tuned into the sport way more this year than normal. And... my team wins the natty! It was a good season, and a fun ride. I especially like your late night meltdowns.
I was pretty much just watching the game to see if there was gonna be a teaser trailer of NCAA Football 24, imma 🤡 for that
matt thank you fa this season it truly felt special an Ima appreciate your now but thank you for your unloading my day isn’t my day without your videos ✅Ⓜ️
Michigan was legit this year.
The good news is that I have more confidence in Milroe coming back after seeing that defense own a 6th year starter as well. If he studies film with that as the standard we could see a great qb next year
Yup the Natty was in the Rose Bowl for sure! All respect for Bama. Hail to the victors! Go Blue!
I was 13 in 97 when we won our last Natty. I waited 27 years for this moment. 27 long, tough years. We did it. Im so fucking happy. I got to see at least 1 more Natty during my life. Go Blue Forever! Love the channel Matt. Bama was the best team we played for sure
Same here Go Blue
Brother I was 6 years old. I remember my dad going nuts man! Now I’m a a grown ass man and lucky enough to see them win it all with a perfect season with my dad right next to me. I mean hell, who’s got it better than us? Nobody! Go blue forever!
@@lnfanityI was 26 when they won in 97 and watched the game with my 79 year old dad last night
Cry me a river. It’s a stupid fucking game and you had to cheat to get to the top.
I was 15 but remember that game like it was yesterday.
You can just cover the NFL playoffs in the meantime to fill up a few months of content for 3 months so the wait won’t even be that long so it’ll only be a 3 month wait 💯
Thanks for all the great videos all year, I have watched all year without commenting on anything till now.... As a Michigan fan thank you to all the flowers we do deserve them and if I never see them win another Natty this was worth it.... Go Blue! And again thank you and God bless....
Let's go blue and roll tide and congratulations to Michigan for winning the championship against Washington last night and you know what we'll be back next September and we're gonna to geart so don't worry about it and Michigan its been a long time coming for you guys and who's got it better than y'all.😊
Michigan vs Alabama was the natty. Go Blue!
No one can be Harbaugh. comeon man. there is no formula. Be You.
Kiffin is King of the Portal. Harbaugh is gonna bail before the NCAA negates Michigan's wins and takes away the Natty.
Unfortunately...hes leaving...and he doesn't have much of a choice
You should do reaction videos throughout March madness it would be awesome
Yea that rose bowl was the real championship to me Michigan Alabama game was amazing
Michigan left a trail of devastation for qb’s. Ohio State, Alabama, Washington. All with a game manager at qb and unsung receivers. A legendary defence and great run game.
That de ain’t better than any of Kirby’s at ga defenses besides maybe 2020 and 2015-2016
That de ain’t better than any of Kirby’s at ga defenses besides maybe 2020 and 2015-2016
@@joshr6540 That defense got over 40 points dropped on them in one game. OSU dropped over 40 on them last year.
It wasn't a blowout until halfway into the 4th quarter
Game was much closer than the scoreboard shows bud
@@khrisstake2210 True.. I was rooting for Washington but it was not a good game for them.
@@brookico WASHINGTON......... Ew
If you watch a team like alabama play they will pass interference instead of letting a touchdown. So penalties don't garuntee points
73 played 1000 times better than Alabama’s center!
Washington would have knocked off Alabama had they had the opportunity!
Let’s go blue!
#mattberight
Matt...I agree...the Rose Bowl had that national championship feel to it. Alabama was a tremendous opponent, the only team to go beyond regulation with Michigan, and, by far, was Michigan's toughest opponent this year. It was one of the greatest games I have ever seen in my 40 years of being a Wolverines fan. Washington made it interesting, but the truth of the matter is, Michigan should have racked up more points than they did last night. Good luck to you during the off-season. You've shown a lot of class over the last 8 days.
The Michigan Alabama game had a ton of sloppy plays it wasent a great game to watch to say the least…
It was a beat down and only close due to uncharacteristic special team errors
Finesse ball doesn’t work when it’s time to really win
Another thought, what was Washington thinking keeping Penix out there ?? Dude was about to kill over. That was crazy
It’s like FSU and Jordan Travis, hard to replace a QB that good but I agree. The game was out of reach for them at that point and he was still out there clutching his rib
And Michigan was blitzing because they smelled blood.
It was painful to watch. But also respect. Fought like a warrior.
Matt cover college basket ball I love your content!
I mean at the end of the day, Michigan wanted it more. Why couldn't my ducks have played that Washington team!
They don’t have a Jesse Mintor.
Georgia vs Michigan was the game I wanted to see.
Man I grow up seeing bama win the natty every year and rooted against them every year. But watching mattbegreat for the last couple years got me wantung to see saved win the natty one more time🙏🏻🙏🏻 but anyways go blue tho 〽️ #mattbeoneofmyfavoriteyoutubers
JJ and Penix will be getting 2 GMs fired
Penix overrated as hell
Toughness in the Trenches equals a W 78%of the time awesome season BLUE 💙
Where and when did Michigan pound Washington the game was winnable until 4mins left in the 4th quarter?

I'm so sad that this season had to end. it was so fun and the peak of my michigan fandom
Snapping wins championships.

MAIZE & BLUE FOREVER!!!
Big ten will do well with new playoff format. Imagine an sec team visiting in Iowa, Penn state, ohio state, Michigan or Wisconsin in December.
I'm tired of national championships not really even being that close. As a neutral fan, I just want to see more competitiveness. Since the Alabama vs Georgia national championship in 2017, the final scores have been:
2018- Clemson vs Alabama (44-16 Clemson)
2019- LSU vs Clemson (42-25 LSU)
2020- Ohio State vs Alabama (52-24 Alabama)
2021- Georgia vs Alabama (33-18 Georgia) note- actually a game I enjoyed watching
2022- TCU vs Georgia (65-7 Georgia)
2023- Michigan vs Washington (34-13 Michigan)
Bowl games do not count because teams do not have full strength in my rankings unless they make the playoffs because then they’re at full strength
1. Michigan
2. Alabama
3. Georgia
4. Ohio State
5. Texas
6. Oregon
7. Washington
8. Florida State
9. Missouri
10. Ole Miss
Ohio State was also a lot closer than people are giving them credit for. They took Michigan down to the last drive.
Why didn’t they win their bowl?

Nope, I'm bama fan, and it should have been UGA. UGA this year is better than Bama, just lost that 1 game. If UGA beats Bama, Mich beats Wash in semis, UGA kills FSU in other semi (committee would have picked FSU if UGA had beat Bama), and UGA beats Mich to 3 peat.
