    I live in Kherson.
    About the minefields:
    Option 3 is correct. Traitors not only gave away their locations, but arranged for them to be removed.
    But more importantly, orcs simply used the normal roads and drove all the way, relaxed and unopposed, all the way from Armanysk to the Antonivka bridge. We watched it in real time.
    You need to make a separate video about the heroic defense of Mykolyaiv, where regular citizens helped ZSU repel the orcs at the northern entrance to the city. It's an amazing story. Will be a movie.
    At 7am the morning of the 24th, I said to my wife: we need to blow the bridge. Never happened. We were just sitting there, waiting to see the terrorists enter our city, in disbelief.
    Very unfortunate we didn't have the same heroic resistance in Kherson.

      From outside we don’t doubt the bravery of the people of Kherson. Trying to defend it like those in Mykolaiv did would just have gotten you slaughtered uselessly, because you were betrayed by some of your local leaders.

    I think you left out an important part regarding Mykolyaiv. On the first day of the war the council held an emergency meeting, during which someone remembered how Czechoslovakia had been taken by the Russians. A plane called in with engine trouble and was given permission to land. It was full of paratroopers and Czechoslovakia was taken. So the Mykolyaiv council told everyone to bring their heavy machinery and park it on the runway. The next morning a plane descended through the cloud cover and had to quickly abort landing. The subsequent battle for the town failed and Odessa was saved. That’s how I heard it.

So you’re saying that the Russians sent a single plane of troops all the way over to Odessa without any support?

That would be like the US in WW2 dropping the 101st on Paris in the hopes that they could hold out for months until relieved

As far as Paris is concerned in 1944, the German army was retreating after the Normandy battles, I hardly think the 101st would have to hold more than a couple of days.

The US can carry out amphibious landings from halfway around the globe, they can air drop enough paratroopers to block out the sun, they can gain air superiority against nearly any foe, and they can carry out special forces missions deep behind enemy lines. Russia thought they had parity with the US but in this war they cant really send planes into enemy air space, they cant air drop their airborne units anywhere, they have no real amphibious assault capabilities, they cant even use their ships against an enemy with no navy, and the lost most of their special forces in the space of months

    The Moskva had actually been in terrible shape since at least 2018. The radar and communication systems could not be used together as they interfered with each other, the engines were all multiple thousands of hours past their service replacement date and two could not be switched on without express permission from the admiral. Only one of the air defense systems actually worked because they had to cannibalise all the others to make that one work, and all the damage control equipment, fire extinguishers, etc were in lockers that could not be unlocked unless someone ran all the way to the bridge, got the key, and ran all the way back, meanwhile the ship is on fire. This means that not only were the crew unable to figure out exactly what happened once they got hit(the radar would have been switched on, because that is the protocol for a Russian ship under attack, and thus the communication systems would be disabled) until someone actually got to the bridge and told them, they couldn't deal with the fires or any of the damage because everything was in those lockers, and the only reason that they could tell they had been hit was because they felt an explosion. The ship was done for the moment those missiles were fired, even if they didn't try to "sneak around"(you can't sneak around a radar even if it was working) the defenses.

      kind of crazy how people constantly think of Russia as this unbeatable juggernaut until they receive a horrible humiliating defeat and then ignore that go back to making them out to be a superpower level military. The Russo Japanese war was one of the first times a western power lost against a non-western enemy in centuries, they got hammered in WW1, lost a war with Finland, lost against TINY enemies like Estonia, Lithuania, Georgia, and Latvia, lost a war to Poland, and while they did win their second invasion of Finland it was an extremely humiliating victory considering they were fighting a far inferior foe and took 5x the casualties. Similarly their loss in the first Chechen war and victory in the second were both pretty humiliating as they had to resort to leveling whole cities because despite having 10x the men and having an army that's nearly the same population as the entire Chechen Republic they still couldnt even risk going into cities without taking heavy losses, and again the Russians took around 5x the casualties in the first war and around 3x as many in the second war (and killing around 10 civilians for every chechen fighter they killed).

      Well, technically, from what little I know, we don’t actually know that’s true.
      A supposed maintenance report from before sailing made those claims, but I believe no one has officially confirmed that document was authentic, or even in the same style as Russian navy does maintaining reports.
      If the document was original and accurate, though, it would make the commanders who send out the Moskva be criminally negligent and they should be court-martialed for letting the ship get into that condition, let alone sending it out on war patrol in said conditions.
      Which, of course, is probably why either 1. Someone faked that report or 2. No one dares confirm it being real, as it actually is.

      Regardless, it is possible (at least in theory) that there is another reason for that then radio interference. Like arrogance or incompetence, wouldn’t be the first or last time either of those showed up in Russian armed forces during this war.
      And even if the radio & radar indeed interfered, that does not yet proof the rest of the leaked rapport.
      Gives it more credibility, yes, but not definitive proof.
      I kinda hope, but also don’t, that the rapport was not fully accurate. Because it would make me sad if their commanders were such criminally negligent bastards to send out their conscripts in a ship in such a bad state.
      But I would not necessary been surprised, considering the other crimes the Russian leaders had committed to their own people as well as the peoples of all countries they have attacked

      @Gametheory101 I believe you, I think the weirdness is with the ISO codes. I recently had to look up a bunch of them for a project, and the Switzerland one caused a bit of confusion. Personally I think that the dam blowing up weekend the rusian defensive positions. When the area dries out it could lead to a major Ukrainian strike pointe as it is relatively undefended if at all. All the Ukrainians need to do is hold up until conditions are favorable for attack.

      @tinnasell4161 ปีที่แล้ว

      The area is now going to dry out soon. Even when the water level falls, the mud, dead fish, and waste will still be everywhere. It will take several months, but then it will start raining and the mud will return. I doubt this plan will ever work.

    Regarding Mykolaiiv, "ignoring" is a very inaccurate word. Ruscists have been shelling and bombing the city every day pretty much from day one and at the very least until the Kherson counteroffensive, though regular rocket and drone strikes continued until recently. The city suffered a lot, so "ignoring" is not tge correct word at all.

    • @Sky_Guy
      @Sky_Guy ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm pretty sure "ignoring" in that context referred to not directly assaulting the city with infantry to assume full control on the ground. Obviously no part of southern Ukraine was free of "attention," nearly every population center in the country sustains drone bombardment to this very day.

    • @oohhboy-funhouse
      @oohhboy-funhouse ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ignoring might have been a poor choice of words. Gave up might be more appropriate. Although given the mocking tone, ignored was chosen as it would liken Russia pretending it never tried to take Mykolaiiv or Kyiv or three days, therefore weren't defeated.

    Generally agree, except Ukraine was no ignoring the signs of ruzzian offensive nor optimistic. Their intelligence chief literally stated last year that they had massive dilemma before the invasion started, they knew the attack was imminent, but they had two options of which neither was good (hence dilemma):
    1. declare the emergency and make the risks known to the public, but lock all the roads with civilians fleeing and then be unable to adequately manoeuvre the army, resupply, defend, or kill own civilians in collateral damage. outcome - put the people above the country.
    2. deny the risks until last minute, allow military to move around as needed, but then leave the civilians in occupied territories for ruzzians to do what ruzzians do (ra*pe, ki*ll, tort*ture etc.) outcome - put country above the people.
    There were further considerations - like not scaring business and investors, keeping economy afloat, keeping civilians in country to summon for defence duties etc. If they would have declared that ruzzia is about to invade there would have been chaos and they may have lost control of the country, not because of battlefield outcomes, but simply because of overall instability.
    I am not saying their decision was right, I am just saying it is a FACT that all the agencies and government knew exactly what ruzzia will invade and that invasion was imminent, they didn't have rose tinted glasses and for any good observer it was clear the war will start. Like for example US evacuating their embassy in Kiev, the official denials from Ukrainian officials, despite months of saying that ruzzia will invade. Basically they said for month "please speak with ruzzia because we think they are invading us" and then suddenly started saying "ohhh they just bluffing, no need to panic now"... This was like 10-15 Feb 2022 and I was like "shit this means it is imminent" and then US announces evacuation of "non-essential" staff few days later.
    Now I am not wizard either... I was wrong in predicting that with stated troop numbers ruzzia will faint all axis of attack, but will only attack Donbass... simple logic said it is impossible to invade country of 40+ million and army of ~500k with just 220k troops. As it turned out I was both right and wrong... I was wrong about where they will attack, I could not predict all fronts, because it was madness, but I was right that it was impossible task to win with such small force in such a big country.
    The Ukraine's communication in the days leading the invasion was confusing as well, but as I said it was explained later - it was coordinated campaign to prevent panic and to prepare for defence. This was officially confirmed.

      Theoretically possible? I think.
      The Poles would be all in, I guess, for any excuse to pull article 5 and go in together with the USA.
      More likely scenario, in my mind? Something similar to the high-tension person around the time Assad first used chemical weapons against his rebellious schoolchildren and hospital patients.
      High stakes & pressure diplomatic discussions, threaths, maybe some mediation by South-Africa or Brazil or China or India.
      Eventually under threat of NATO force, the powerplant gets declared a demilitarized zone under UN protection, with third-party peacekeepers and no actual NATO forces.
      Second possibility, if Russia doesn’t fold under pressure? NATO goes in just enough to remove Russian forces from the powerplant, using airforce & special forces along with Ukrainian army in support role. When the plant is taken, they pause / pull back, and tell Russia “don’t call our bluff again and don’t make me come over there again. Next time, you die.”

      likely depends on how severe it is. US and allied sensors are pretty acute and they're watching nuclear facilities like a hawk so they'll likely be able to tell how bad emissions were and tell them apart from a nuclear weapon. If the leak is weak they're likely to worry but not consider it hostile, but if it suddenly lights up like Pripyat in the 80s they just may. It's possible the UN, EU, and/or US would insist on either impartial UN team or 3rd party nations with relevant skills (like Japan or possibly even China or India) be sent in to fix a leak or assess the issues.

    • @oohhboy-funhouse

      Had the blown dam flood waters crossed into a NATO country then yes, that would have been considered hostile. Intentionally causing a meltdown or blowing up the cooling system would likely constitute hostile action as it spills over. NATO by default has to respond to keep credible deterrence. I have no idea what NATO contingency is. Russia would very likely lose its silent partner China and the global south can't keep pretending the "West" is the cause of their suffering. If nothing else, EU citizens will be angry enough to advocate for some sort of direct action.

    On that note, the Kakohovka Dam destroyed, the possibility of a new front opening South of Nikopol is a higher now. Russian defenses are thin there and Ukriane could push to the ZPP to flank the defenses towards Tokmak. The Kherson front is paused but the Nikopol front is an opportunity to strike the underbelly of Russian defenses.
