As a Notre Dame fan I place tremendous value on these games and we are the only power 5 that goes out of our way to put the academies on our schedule. Go Irish Beat Army. Irish haters have no understanding or clue as to why Notre Dame has played Navy every year since the mid 20s, and while we only occasionally play Army now, the historic traditions of this rivalry dates back to 1913. They just don't get it. They don't understand history, tradition and the mutual respect. They don't understand the symbiotic relationship and like minded principles of Notre Dame and the academies. They don't know that 1 out of every 10 students at ND are in ROTC programs and graduate as officers in the military. They don't understand that the motto "God, Country, Notre Dame" has been etched in stone on our Basilica for decades.
Its only the media that is talking about the playoffs. The players and coaches of both these programs know that they have win out to get anywhere. They're concentrated on preparing and winning. Thats it....
