    Those wheels look terrible , just being honest, other than that no complaints! I love that 225 (Buick Oddfire) Dauntless V6. It’s a smart easy upgrade for Jeeps with a Go Devil. And Jeep factory equipped Jeeps with them after acquiring the tooling for them from General Motors.

    06:31 - 'Old school' fix for more legroom was / is to cut sections out of the fenderwells behind both seats, turn them over and weld them in place at the opposite side.
    Dauntless is the perfect engine for a hotrod Flatfender. I run one (a former sprint racing engine) in a 'Flatty', (titled as) 1946, Kenne Bell equipped, MSD, too much cam & carb, fat headers, 4 speed, T18 with Warn overdrive... .
    Windshield down, goggles and a grin.
    I'm over six feet, BTW, did not notch wheelwells or stretch body / frame. It was all about careful selection and placement of (aftermarket) seats, pedals, steering wheel. Left fuel tank under seat (battery moved to under passenger seat).

    Direct bolt on, great motor.
    Buick made the bell housing. I've had many , some with the turbo 400 .

      Kaiser used the 225 Odd Fire in Jeep products from 1966 through early 1970.
      Buick 225 was Fireball, Kaiser rebranded it as Dauntless. Dauntless had a heavier flywheel than had Buick's Fireball.

      Almost direct. Engine mounts must be sourced / fabbed, transmission mount relocated / modified.

      Good question. I have a dauntless v6 in my 1947 Willy but I need more cooling power. The radiator is the original that I assume was for the go devil 4 cyl. If you could share the company and model of the radiator that would be great. Thanks

      I run a 1965 Mustang radiator and electric fan in front of a hopped up 225 Odd Fire in my hotrod 'Flattie'.
      Keeps her cool, fits fine, inlet / outlet in proper places.

    • @aaronsautoshop1991
      @aaronsautoshop1991  ปีที่แล้ว

      If I recall I used 3 kits of black & 3 kits tintable with a little left of each. But that’s doing the underneath & inside of the body tub black as well as the bumpers & engine bay. The tintable took 2x the amount to fully cover. Also you have to keep your psi steady or else you’ll notice streaks when it drys.

    That looks great. Wondering if you have any info on the bumpers you used? If commercial could you provide the info? Currently building a CJ2 with 225 as well. Just getting started. Thanks.

    • @aaronsautoshop1991
      @aaronsautoshop1991  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t have the links anymore but they were EAG bumpers for a TJ. I modified my front frame horns, boxed them in, & welded nuts to the inside for the bumper mount bolts. It’s a weak point on these jeeps in my opinion because they tend to rust at the radiator crossmember. Plus your leaf springs bolt on there, knowing we’d be using the winch we didn’t want to risk tearing the frame apart. So it’s an off the shelf eag tj bumper in front with the frame modified to fit it. In the back is also a eag tj bumper but I cut the bumper up to make it a little more flush with the rear. It mounts to the flat rear crossmember that used to hold the license plate, but I also cut the ends off the crossmember to make it narrow enough to slide the bumper over it. From there I made some brackets to secure it to the frame better incase we wanted to pull a small trailer for farm activities, in a parade or something to that effect.

    • @Ninebadge
      @Ninebadge ปีที่แล้ว

      Perfect! Thanks. I thought a newer Jeep bumper should fit. I was thinking the same thing on the rear just mount to the crossmember. My front stubs are already boxed but the original bumper mount horns are gone and someone welded on some C channel. I’ll have to cut that off but should be able to make something to mount a bumper to. Thanks for the info.
