    I have a 2A in a tent garage in my back yard that is 100 % original. The body needs some work but is about 90 % intact. Unfortunately the garage is buried in three feet of snow so I can’t get to it right now. My thoughts are since you are going through this already why not take it into a body shop and get them to put it on a frame straightener? Not sure if they could even do that unless they could find the original specs but I bet they are out there somewhere. When I do restore mine I am going to live with the dents and dings knowing that it is all original and the body like the Jeep has a story to tell. Good luck with your project.

    The rear bumper that you are calling a cross member is supposed to be longer on the driver side. The added the extra room for a license plate. The MB and GPW did not have the extra inch or 2.

      I have heard some folks having to modify those as well - but probably not to the degree I have had to modify this one. Going to post another video soon that shows everything I had to do

    Check out C&C Equipment on TH-cam. They sell your body and they just completed a three part series on installing and painting a new body kit on a 2A.

    It is amazing what body shins will do. Your not far off on anything. The rear cross member, add onto the short side (RT) it has been cut off for the exhaust pie at one time.

    Good luck with that body , I had to return my 68 omix body for my cj5 it was that bad
    The new bodies from India are superior . Pete debella in New York is our only distributor in the us right now . The primer you got unfortunately sucks too. Peels off

      Thanks I’m going to need it! Yea going to have it blasted most likely to get the primer off. Bought a bunch of stuff from Pete already, should have waited for a body to.

      Metalshaper found me a 25 year old omix body still in a crate . Fit perfectly and thicker gauge steel, better tooling etc. really lucked out . Brian did a Fantastic job on my project

    You can use the same locations from the CJ-3A for your CJ-2A hardware.
    The early CJ-3As the same dimensions, the few exceptions are the extra 2 inches for the driver seat, and the windshield configuration.
    As you now know, nothing is exactly as we might think.

      thanks for the info - i didn't know about the extra 2 inches for the driver's seat - good to know.

    I'm new to these. Tell me where the tub is made? No biggie on that column hole. what is the price of the kit? Can you use the largest body mount gap and use that as a gauge for every mount? Good vid.

    • @jeepcjgarage
      @jeepcjgarage ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The body is made in the Philippines, they are imported by omix and many companies resell them. I paid around 4k delivered for the whole kit. The only other person in the US selling a body made elsewhere is Peter debella. The body’s he imports come from India and are supposed to be better from what I hear. Granted I don’t think the one I have is as bad as they used to be years ago.

    i would have to wonder how much attention to detail there was from yhr facory that is not noticed until you have to do what you are doing

    • @jeepcjgarage
      @jeepcjgarage ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea seems like there is some disco for sure. The bulk of my figment issues are around the transmission tunnel. Seems like it’s just off by a few inches - makes me wonder if they used something other than a 2a as a template

  • @bms9144
    @bms9144 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Jeep may not be as symmetrical as one would expect. That rear frame member seems to be shorter on the passenger side vs the driver's side. I wonder if this is just a quirk of the construction. I know you did a lot of measuring, but more measurements might reveal that body to frame used a lot of hand fitting when it was originally built. Just a guess/impression.

    • @jeepcjgarage
      @jeepcjgarage ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yea looks like it’s shorter on the passenger side bus drivers side, someone else commented that they extended the drivers side for the CJ’s to accommodate for license plates

    Come on perfect? Do you think perfection was something they strived for
    In the 1940s making these for the mitilary?
    Hell no. It was good. But it dam sure wasn't perfect.
    Why Willie's and not Jeep stamped in the body panels these were stamped Jeep.
    I really don't belive Chrysler owns the name Jeep you cant trademark a household name.
    Willie's Jeeps used parts from GM Chrysler and Ford. Personally I'd drop in a TOYOTA motor. Isn't that a kick in the ass. 22re.

    • @jeepcjgarage
      @jeepcjgarage ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea - who would have thought Japanese parts in Jeeps …. Certainly not when these were made. I think Willy’s is correct for the year I don’t think they started stamping Jeep until later on from what I have seen.
