- Mowing First Cutting Alfalfa with a Krone Big M 450
In this video I am out in the field with a Krone Big M 450 Self Propelled mower conditioner. I filmed this near Platteville Wisconsin as this farm was mowing down first cutting alfalfa. This was organic alfalfa and the first field had a mix of barley in it. This was all going to be round baled and wrapped as silage bales for an organic dairy farm.
I love watching triple and SP mowers of all kinds work. I could watch this for hours.

Self propelled definitely...I like the NH triple mowers we have
@@aaronsanborn4291 suspended mowers Krone is still the best by far, better built, heavier, better quality and better cuts and grass quality, but bein heavier and way more expensive, they are not for all farms

That Krone BigM 450 is sure putting the hay down, that is super thick stuff (Barley and Alfalfa) and its probably going at about 10mph which is crazy fast. Great video as always Mike !

That is an impressive mower. I sure wouldn't have thought it would need 400+ horsepower.
It doesn't "need" it but it makes working in hilly terrain a lot faster...I've got a NH T8.435 with triple mowers on it and yeah it makes working in Maine a lot easier

There are a couple of the 450s around Athens, Skowhegan and Fairfield, Maine that I know of off the top of my head.

I wondered what the M stood for in Big M. Then as I was watching, I said "Wow, that is one big motherf...oh." And I doubt I'm right, but I'm going with it.

Yeah being a demo hasn't got all the option extras on it. Operater doing an ok job. Still miss the Big M 500.
Do those guys ever have trouble with hemlock getting in their hay? The people we sell hay to have told us that hemlock can kill a horse.
Hey Mike ! Your video starts and finishes in few seconds I see its 10 min long . Does someone else has this problem ?
I just checked and I was able to watch the entire 10 minutes.
I restarted pc ,clean with CCleaner . Now it is working normally... it wuld be shame that it isn't working for everyone
