As a two-month Torres owner, I say: a great vehicle. Safety is not optional but standard. The steel ratio is even higher than the well-known brand; 78%. Every equipment you can think of is provided with smart 4WD drive. What more could you want? I recommend it. 🇹🇷

I like the design more than the SUVs from which it was lifted 😅 In the good old days SsangYong cars were dirt cheap for the level of equipment and quality they offered, with the drawback being dated engines and tech. Some things haven't changed . . but they are no longer dirt cheap.
9:04 TORRES is good suv of South Korea. I ride TORRES during one year. good design and practical! My TORRES is millitary vehicle. Only my hand self tuning!
The sides of the car hardly looks like anything from LR or Toyota, also I don’t think LR has a monopoly over flat top wheel arches. It’s a very common design. Also of the similarities you talk about are just nonsense like saying the side mirrors are like that of FJ because they both are big! 😂🤦🏼♂️
as always nice review Marek .the car looks nice but it has a lot of ground to cover,to catch up with other similar brands, not to mention the price which is salty imho.
after owning a 21 plate Korando for the last two years and being more than please with it apart from the MPG I will be checking the Torres out in the next few weeks with a view to buying one, it looks the part from the outside.
I had a SsangYong 20 years ago and I made sure to treat it badly but it refused to die... I see them in Poland a bit now so I guess they are kind of reliable and the torres at 140k pln is not bad.
Live the review. Nicely detailed. Torres EVX is available, are you testing that one. I love the look and design. But only the alerts from the safety systems bugs me.
The new owner KG GROUP wants to get rid of SsangYong bad image that the previous owner Mahindra & Mahindra created. SsangYong is back in Korean hands and wants to start over. According to media and car journalists, only EV models will be produced in the future. A name change should help with the new start
Dude mahindra got a bad image because of SsangYong . You should study the history of this brand . Mahindra has its own product and engine line up and even selling products in Australia, NZ and SouthAfrica.
handsome suv , the design people have excelled themselves, you had genuine gripes with the tec , so just to say that the vehicles been on the road since late 22 or early 23 , well enough time to upgrade the software as in user friendly. We are in uk and the first registrations were end of January this year . Shame that engine wise, its like buying into old engineering as in very high grams per km and the rather low kpl . That will have a knock on effect down the line . Maybe should have released a hybrid model instead of this. I know the ev version is out in far east but when it reaches uk ( speculation is for September 24 registrations MAYBE ) it will be at least 15-20 % dearer than the petrol version ps like your vid analasis 5 stars .
are sure about the prices? I would be very surprised to be that high in Poland when in Romania, also a EU member, prices are between 28950 EUR (cheapest version) and 39970 EUR (including VAT) for the premium fully loaded version which includes the AWD option also. with this pricing I think is actually very competitive considering how much you get for the money.
@mipmipmipmipmip There are no emission taxes in Germany for cars. It’s probably because representatives of the car manufacturers have also something to say in the German government.
The front is also a bit Mitsubishi-esque with the vertical detail between the grille and fog light area. It’s a bit too utilitarian and boxy looking for my liking but it is the first SsangYong I’ve seen pretty much ever that doesn’t look ugly imo
I enjoyed the production of this video, and it was an entertaining yet informative review. New and low market share vehicles are unfairly accused of being like high market share vehicles, but why. There is nothing new under the sun. We have been around for over 6000 years of recorded history
There’s a lot of Brand snobbery comments on here albeit in reality most can afford the $100k+ vehicles no matter they say, even the new Toyota LCs are $60k+, Hyundai starts at $45k and Nissan is of similar pricing, Jeep is $35k+ etc etc, if you’re saving $10-15k on a vehicle that you’re going to trade back in before the warranty expires, for a family vehicle in a 4x4 guise as mom has no need for the soccer van this makes sense….
Hmmmm, call me crazy but I quite like the design of this. If I was in the market for a compact SUV, I’d take a look at it. At the very least, you’d stand out from the sea of RAV 4s and CRVs.
I wish Ssangyong would announce when the Tores is coming to Australia as there are many choices coming in the first 6 months of 2024 (eg Tank 500) - this is my first choice & I would wait if I knew it was coming soon with a reasonable price
There is no gesture control? Well, It's optional in most cases unless you are not buying the top spec or the specs may vary from country to country. In New Zealand, we have these come with full specs, including gesture and no button layout on the dashboard but 12.4"x2 displays. Unfortunately no manual controls for AC or Infotainment.
As far as I remember this was the top trim here in Poland. Also SsangYong may have the Hyundai/KIA system, where you approach the car from the back with the key in your pocket, and it will then beep for a couple of seconds, and start opening the tailgate (which takes even longer, so I consider it pointless). By now the infotainment is probably all screen as well.
Thanks. I don't think take another one for a test drive any time soon. I'll expect it will perform similar to a 5-10 year old KIA Sportage/Hyundai Tucson.
It's got the looks. It's spacious. The 4x4 model would be interesting to try off-road. But that's about it. The half-baked electronics are indeed a deal-breaker. I'd say it's like going to a fancy-looking restaurant only to realize that it's a Dönner Kebap joint on the inside. I don't know why the manufacturer lets this car down so much - way too many compromises as if they made it for some teen male driver dreamers. While at that price point it's for customers whose desires and expectations have long matured. Design could also be a bit half-baked as the emphasis is on form, but not function.
Hello. Thanks a lot for the reviews. Puting a part of the sort of bad complaints about the brand. Would you please compare this vehicle with Ford Escape Hyundai Tucson Kia Sportage? Without any concern which one would you prefer? Any feedbacks will be apreciated.Good luck with your TH-cam Chanel.❤
I haven't driven any Ford products in the last 5 years, because Ford doesn't speak to me. Personally I wouldn't buy any of those crossovers. Maybe a Mazda CX-5, if I had to choose. Also, I drive a Countryman, so this is what I consider the lesser evil :)
I like the front but the roof lines behind and in front of the 'inserty bit' don't match up on the sides. This triggers my OCD and sense for esthetics and composition. It's /almost/ great design. Too bad they went overboard on some of the unneeded accents and details.
False , good car designers are inspired by stuff in nature/ animals , their lineage, or the companies background, maybe planes etc but good designs aren't inspired by current cars who was also their competition. That's laziness
Although I normally refuse to drive a SUV... (I am a station wagon guy)... I totally dig the looks. This car with a Skyactive Diesel from Mazda would be perfect. (Or maybe a 3.6 litre Chrysler-V6 😅) By the way: great review and even greater presentation. I find your videos really enjoyable. Greetings from Germany.
The front is quite sharp, the profile is fine... but the rear end is kind of a mess. That's what I think. The video was top notch as always. As an aside, The Tesla Model 3 fixed it's ugly fish face with the new redesign being revealed yesterday!
SsangYong are blitzing the media here in Australia with TV commercials featuring cricketing legend Merv Hughes promoting the brand. This brands product has always looked like a design afterthought, with dated interiors and exteriors that look like a "Frankenstein's Monster". Maybe they go to the hobby shop and buy a whole lot of plastic models, then get out a Dremel tool to make their own design. I'm about to buy a new SUV in the next few weeks, and i certainly wouldn't even consider a SsangYong. At least the Hyundai Tucson has a design philosophy and the tech works very well and without all the incredibly annoying chimes.
Everyone complains about intrusive and noisy driver aids in every car these days. I feel like I should buy another lightly used passat, put in the freezer and dig out when my current one dies.
@@MarekDrivesENG according to the website it seems like we’ll get the 1.5 turbo petrol as well but I think it may be a little bit under what most consumers want however, maybe with a bit of push engine might come through or even if this hybrid or plug-in hybrid comes in or battery might actually be a good idea to. It’s just that a diesel engine inin this might do some good for Australia as it seems like it would be a fitting option.
I checked, and it seems 1.5 liter petrol is their export weapon of choice for tax reasons. They don't like diesels, because of pollution, so they don't make them. That, as well as the fact they were never good at engine development, hence focus on EVs.
Ssangyong make great cars but small details missing like back seat tables for families, seat memory presets, 40/20/40 seat split for carrying gear should really be standard if not optional at least, pity.
Sorry you do not have unlock the rav4 you need to go into the computer and change door locking settings. Rav4 owner then you can open the boot from fob
Assuming we're talking about the same thing, I'll have to play around with the settings next time I have a Toyota around for a test drive. They all seem to have the same issue. They have to be unlocked in order for me to use the hands free tailgate opening option. Which IMO defeats the purpose.
I like your review, indeed Ssangyong could have been much better equipped this car with more State of the arts software and engine upgrades for this car. But overall, I do like this car design, if I could buy one, I will customize this car with some of few more upgrades for the interior and the multimedia devices with top nutch materials and high end sounds and multimedia screen system, could be up to 18 speakers with surrounding sounds and seperately installed amplifier. ❤😂

Definitely, so professional without being boring.
Love it, will probably buy it. Ssangyong's are good cars.
I like the fact that the headlights are futuristic yet traditional - not like in the bumper like some hyyundais and mitsubishi's these days.
