- One of the first videos I made for this channel was my retrospective on the career of Leslie Nielsen. I recently stumbled upon some of the interview clips I used in that video and decided to remaster them for a proper fart machine montage. Enjoy! Source clips:

Gotta admire a man who lived into his 80's and enjoyed fart humor until the day he died. RIP Mr. Nielsen, you are a legend.

He’s literally a maestro of the fart machine, a virtuoso of the instrument. From short paps to long winded rips, there was an endless vocabulary. Bravo Leslie , bravo.

It's not as easy as it looks I bought a fart machine and I can't get those noises, the dude was a artist of comedy timing.

The one at 1:02 is masterly timed! Notice how Leslie himself cracks on that one.
This is a man who was dedicated to his craft, for sure.
In all of these he was using his prop to make the noise, but he knew how to make it look like it was natural.
I just ordered a Pooter Tooter because of this. Lol
Nobody else has ever come close to replacing him. His style and personality truly was one of a kind.

The fact Leslie's whole comedic career was minimal laughing and being serious is epic. I don't think we'll see someone execute that deadpan, slapstick comedic like him. He's so missed.

Fred Willard and Super Dave were great at it too but it seems like it’s a lost art.
The prop by itself wasn't the comedy, it's Leslie's timing and how he would just pause enough to make you think "Did he actually just fart?". Excellent comedic timing.
It was also funny how it seemed to come at an ironically opportune time of his dialogue.

I loved the later Dave clip where he does the big leg swing and -- nothing -- then a small leg swing once you thing you're free of him doing it only for him to poot-noise
I was devastated when he departed from this sad world. I miss him a big time. He was like a beacon of light in the darkness. RIP Leslie. Thank you.

Leslie was a legend. A man that set out to be a leading man in serious dramas, only to become the most unlikely comedic superstar after decades of dramatic work that had very limited success. He took everything in stride, and cherished and relished his role as the comedic straight man. He just seemed like he genuinely loved to make people laugh and bring them joy. He took his chops as a dramatic actor and turned them into some of the best comedic timing in the history of comedy. I miss his presence in movies every time I see him.
Plus, who doesn't enjoy a good ol' fart joke every now and then? We all need a reminder to take life less seriously once in a while. R.I.P. Mr. Nielson.
Wonderfully said, it’s impossible to look at Leslie and not smile - he truly was one of the most brilliant comedic actors of all time.

I love how when he let's one loose, he cannot hold his laughter and a simple fact can change his entire demeanour.
The fact that he thinks it's the funniest thing ever just makes it a million times more funny. What a guy.
It was his personality that made this acceptable AND funny. No one else has pulled this off- for a reason. His was special, and he will be missed.
His timing of these are just perfect.
And not just the timing, it's like he has the perfect fart for any situation.
Yeah, the little pause and grunt he does really sells it.
Timing is everything in the field of professional flatulence. What tickles me is the ones who act like they've never farted in their lives. It makes the moments that much sweeter.....well pungent.
His comedic timing is unmatched. He knows exactly when and how often to hit that button so that it's never quite when you expect it, and never too often. It's actually a very delicate thing to master because something as crude as a fart machine gets obnoxious fast, but not in his hands. Mr. Nielsen was a king.
There´s a cool story told by comedians/late night hosts here in Spain. While on promotion here, he went into make up and such before getting into an interview, he missed a step or anything like that and fell off. Everyone in the room was in shock, and they thought he would injured himself pretty badly. He didn´t move. After some eternal seconds, a fart noise came from the ground. Everyone was relieved.

This guy was one of my favourite comedy actors when I was growing up in the 80s( first film I saw him in was "Airplane") RIP legend

Yeah for some reason leslie is the only one who’s fart jokes (pranks*) still get me at 20 years old. He doesnt try too hard and actually has the funniest “everything is normal” gestures to go with them

Loved him in Airplane and of course Police Squad and subsequent movies. Multi talented actor who went from serious drama to comedy. He brought a smile and a laugh to millions.
This was sophomoric, intellectually vacuous and lowbrow to the extreme. I enjoyed every second of it.

I watch every movie Leslie Neilson I come across beginning with The Forbidden Planet up to his comedies. He's tremendously talented and will be greatly missed.
He's like the world's zany grandpa. There are a bunch of actors who I think it'd be cool to hang out with, but not many I really wish I could know in some capacity. He was a groovy froob, RIP, legend
I just about lost my mind seeing this interviews with him. Can't dunk on a man that embraced the humor of this, and gave everybody a taste of how awesome he was! I will miss him so much!

Leslie Nielsen has been making me laugh for 20 years. I never really got to see him live in a candid interview but what a great man he must have been indeed

So far still the first and only celebrity death that genuinely made me cry. The world became just a tad less fun when we lost him.

We've all cried in laughter many times watching the Naked Gun Movies , I was at the age of 11-14 when they were in the theatres . These movies were beyond hilarious at that age and it was all good hearted humor which we don't see anymore .

First-rate comedian (somehow able to be the straight man to his own jokes), but also a superb bad guy in ‘Creepshow’ (1982).

I've loved Leslie since I was a kid. The man is a comedy legend. You are sorely missed Mr. Nielsen.
As well as being a comedic legend, Nielsen also starred in perhaps my favourite sci-fi movie of all time, Forbidden Planet. An astonishing film, with amazing props and special effects, especially considering it was produced in 1956. Sadly, it is all but ignored by the networks.
there wouldn't be no star trek without Forbidden Planet, Leslie Nielsen was the prototype Captain Kirk in this movie.
the mate painting, sets and animation effects are still absolutly gorgeous to this day,
and let's not forget Robbie the Robot who also inspired so many other movies on it's own.
an absolute master piece of the golden age of cinema, the kind of movie that give me the nostalgia of a time i never knew,
same with a journey to the center of the earth (1959) and the time machine (1960), those movies have a charm that is unmatchable by newer ones.
That comedic timing though. He always picks a funny moment, but not the most obvious moment.
My first "meeting" of Leslie Nielsen was watching "Forbidden Planet" on TV! Many years later, when he did "Airplane" he was so totally different from all of his previous movies, and he was a magnificent comedian!

Thanks for including his appearance on Hey Hey, it's Saturday!. For decades it was the pinnacle of Australian TV comedy, Leslie would have fit right in with them.

Classical Leslie, after all he was a professor at the University of the stooges. I always remembered that little gadget he had when doing the mission impossible scene in wrongfully accused, I searched high and low and to no end…have i been successful.

he was trying so hard to get that last guy to crack and it finally worked. There's seldom anything funnier than deadpan delivery of awkward moments. Nielsen was a master at that.

I’m glad I grew up with his movies and his comedy. Even in his afterlife he still cracks me up! Which reminds me, I got to go watch airplane, spy hard, naked gun and scary movie three again.

It might seem like a cheap and primitive form of joke but the way this man placed the juciy sound casually in a middle of a line is impeccable. A true legend which I miss till this day.
I'm crying watching this, it's so purile, but absolutely hilarious. What makes it even more funny is the fact that after many years of playing this prank Leslie still found it just as funny as when he first started.

Absolutely hilarious. I had tears of laughter most of the way through. I often wonder how many takes they got to do with Leslie on set. His humor is spot on with the straight face as if nothing is wrong.
That little pause in his speech every time he "farts" is straight up genius.
He portrays us all so well. When you let off the gas and know it was heard and soon felt by everyone around you, so you try to keep talking like nothing happened.

I'm in my 40s and I'm proud to admit that fart humor still cracks me. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. And who better to deliver it than the legend himself! So unfortunate he is gone. I watched so many of his movies as a kid/teenager/adult.
No matter how old I get, farts will ALWAYS be funny. I never forget the times it would be silent in class and then somebody (sometimes me as a bit of a class clown) would let one rip. Nothing funnier!

I remember, a very long time ago, when smoking was banned in public places (restaurants), we were having lunch at this restaurant and these 2 morons sat and started smoking.
The staff tried to get them to stop, but their arrogance and self importance wouldn't allow them to respect others.
So.... being the kind of person who knows how to handle ID10TS like that, I went over to their table and said something like,
"Ok, so if you don't want to stop smoking, then please enjoy this!"... I paused... turned around and let out one of the biggest, loudest farts right in their faces!

The shock on their faces was amazing and they got up and left... yes.. IN A HUFF!

Remember watching him on children's BBC in the 90's and he did the fart machine then acted like it want him. Brilliant.

This isn't just about squeezing a prop. His timing was perfect and there was always some kind of physical movement that would make it seem really natural and convincing. He was an artist at fake-farting.
