Shadow knowing about his origins 50 years ago isn't a huge surprise given that he loses his memories after SA2 anyway.
Kirk 100% locked in for this man cause holy shit his voice has gotten so much better. I’m genuinely shocked at the improvement, Rouge sounds better too and Omega. The animation was crispy as hell and the plot keeps thickening. Actually the best short promotional series Sega has made for a Sonic game
Rouge could still use a recast, though. Not just because Karen tends to......live up to her name, but also because her performance is weirdly inconsistent. But I will give her credit, it's an improvement over her Dream Team performance. Kirk on the other hand did indeed lock in, all he needed was good material to work with.

Guys, no this isn't a retcon. Remember that the whole thing about the Shadow The Hedgehog game was Shadow trying to regain his memories, which he lost after his sacrifice in SA2, not only that, but even before that, he lost his memories by being frozen for 50 years.
The Japanese version of SA2 has a line from Gerald that says “Shadow’s memories are under my control” which is something I wish they kept in the English version. Makes more sense why he’d think Maria’s wish was for revenge.
I think Black Doom gave Shadow a larva to use in his experiments. My personal headcanon is that Gerald made the biolizard, realized it failed, then got into contact with Black Doom, and made the deal, and Shadow happened.

They aren't retconning anything here. Black Doom and Gerald struck a deal to share Black Arms resources in exchange for the seven Chaos Emeralds. Black Doom's blood runs within Shadow, but it totally stands to reason that he would've also supplied Gerald with further samples. Doom likely supplied the larvae under the guise of them being for Gerald's research, but he secretly meant for them to act as probes for his eventual return. If anything, this adds to why GUN eventually stormed the place and killed every living thing aboard the station. They likely knew Gerald had made contact with the Black Comet, but since it was done behind the earth government's back, they had no idea what exactly he was working with anymore. If he had living specimens, they needed that shit dead to ensure none of it got back to earth. Shadow slipped throught the cracks thanks to Maria ejecting him to earth. Which is why they put him on ice rather than just killing him and risking a biohazard.

Usually in voice acting you try to silence the breaths, but when Maria speaks you can explicitly hear her having to breathe in between each sentence because she's struggling to speak She's genuinely exerting so much effort just to talk to shadow omg I'm gonna cry It's such a small detail but it goes such a long way to selling her character

Other than the fact I'm happy Team Dark is finally back, the fact that Abraham Tower's name is now canonized in the Sonic universe is insane. If I remember correctly, in the OG Shadow The Hedgehog video game through the Encyclo-speed-ia, Sega and Sonic Team back in 2005 called Abraham "GUN Commander", but in the Archie comics, his actual name got mentioned. Nice to know Ian Flynn is making Abraham's name canonized in the Sonic universe.
The thing I really like about EP 2 is when it shows the far away shot of Shadow leaning on the pod with the black arms creature, the whole room goes dark, and Maria disappears like a representation of Shadow’s negative thoughts about himself and then Maria hugging him, he looks right at her and the whole room lights up again almost like every time Shadow looks at her, all of his negative thoughts disappear.
I'm glad they finally gave us something to fully confirm this takes place parallel to Gens bc there was a small part of me that thought this game might take place well after the events of that game.

In the CoroCoro Manga it's implied that he somehow manipulated events to get G.U.N to attack the Ark, probably to eliminate anyone that might distract Shadow from his destiny.

Black Doom DID come to Gerald as BLACK DOOM but what Shadow's looking at in the container is the little larva guys from Shadow 05, these guys can be found on the walls or on the ground. This isn't Black Doom as a larva but rather this is how the black arms soldiers look like as a larva. Now here's something that might be confusing: if Gerald used a random Black Arms larva to create Shadow, how does he have Doom's blood? Simple, I'm pretty sure all Black Aliens larvae or not have Doom's blood in their veins. I think it's kinda like Dragon Ball Z how Frieza's & Piccolo's races' can Asexually reproduce meaning they don't need to have a partner to reproduce. That's the same thing with the Black Arms. Other than the fact I'm happy Team Dark is finally back, the fact that Abraham Tower's name is now canonized in the Sonic universe is insane.
If I remember correctly, in the OG Shadow The Hedgehog video game through the Encyclo-speed-ia, Sega and Sonic Team back in 2005 called Abraham "GUN Commander", but in the Archie comics, his actual name got mentioned.
Nice to know Ian Flynn is making Abraham's name canonized in the Sonic universe.

The thing I really like about EP 2 is when it shows the far away shot of Shadow leaning on the pod with the black arms creature, the whole room goes dark, and Maria disappears like a representation of Shadow’s negative thoughts about himself and then Maria hugging him, he looks right at her and the whole room lights up again almost like every time Shadow looks at her, all of his negative thoughts disappear.
I'm glad they finally gave us something to fully confirm this takes place parallel to Gens bc there was a small part of me that thought this game might take place well after the events of that game.
I've never seen a Sonic SuperFan be so hyped that he forgets the lore of the series man!

In the CoroCoro Manga it's implied that he somehow manipulated events to get G.U.N to attack the Ark, probably to eliminate anyone that might distract Shadow from his destiny.

4:49 Fadel you're probably misunderstanding. This scene is sort of a "Hey remember this about Shadow" scene.
Black Doom DID come to Gerald as BLACK DOOM but what Shadow's looking at in the container is the little larva guys from Shadow 05, these guys can be found on the walls or on the ground. This isn't Black Doom as a larva but rather this is how the black arms soldiers look like as a larva.
Now here's something that might be confusing: if Gerald used a random Black Arms larva to create Shadow, how does he have Doom's blood?
Simple, I'm pretty sure all Black Aliens larvae or not have Doom's blood in their veins. I think it's kinda like Dragon Ball Z how Frieza's & Piccolo's races' can Asexually reproduce meaning they don't need to have a partner to reproduce. That's the same thing with the Black Arms.

I think this moment makes the scene in SA2 where Shadow gets pissed when Sonic calls him a "Fake Hedgehog" have more impact because in Shadow's head he's being reminded that he's not different from the Black Arms and Maria telling him that it's not true is probably the only thing that convinces him he's a hedgehog

The new Fadel voice actor is is doing a decent job not gonna lie (Just jestin' my man, your voice is funny here) but dam o dam, the animation is CRISP, the choreography is cheff kiss and the character interactions are just SO GOOD AAAAH, I live for this, my only complaint is that... well, is too short aaaaaaaah, but peak Shadow and Team Dark content! They're Cookin'!
