Great video Frank. I love these SU26 kits. Built several back when Tower had the great Combo, motor & Kit deals. Much better selection of motors available today. Too bad Kits are going out. Terry&ThePirates South Florida
Awesome Frank .
Thank you!
hi Frank brilliant video, if I could just say, with the issue of the ribs fitting, if I was you I would trim the tab to fit in with your straight edge ruler , your on the ball using your straight edge, let that be your gauge for building a straight and true wing , thanks again Frank for your videos, it's interesting to see you deal with every building issue as I enjoy building balsa aircraft aswell, from Tony from Bedfordshire, England
Thanks. The straight edge just seems logical to me.
@@FranksModelAviationWorkshopGreat work Frank .
Thank you!
Great build series 🤙🤙
Thank you , learning building skills . I’ve been building since 96. First kit was a CG gentle lady. It lasted about 30 seconds 😂🤣
What’s those lil squares called?
Where is the next video. I used to build a Goldberg kit, from opening the box Friday evening to ready for final sand on Sunday evening. :)
I have many Goldberg kits under the old belt. Each one had some issues. I had a cub, one set of ribs seemed to be miss die cut, they had a bit of under chamber airfoil, the others were fine. Spent time glue balsa strips to them then sanding to the Formica template I made. On a Super Chipmunk, the tail die crushed pieces were so bad, I ended up cutting new ones. On a Sky tiger, one fuse side was miss cut, it looked like it was die cut, then moved about 4 inches, then cut again.
After fixing the issues, all of them flew very well. The Super Chipmunks were a dream to fly. I flew a Jr Tiger so much, I wore through the axle part of the main gear, the other side was about 70% worn through. Flying of a dirt field, the plastic wheels sanded the piano wire every time the rolled.
I agree as noted below, the lack of shear webs on this plane. I would run 1/16" shear webs on one side at least 3/4 out, if not all the way and then 1/32" shear on the other side 1/2 way out. I have boxed in with 1/32" balsa, really surprising how strong it is.
This is one plane I wish I had built and flown back in the day. I like the Sukhoi so much more than the Edges, Lasers, Sbach's, they all looks very similar.
Buzz.
The next episode is still in production. I know understand why people do winter builds. I’m having trouble finding time to get back at it, but rest assured, there will be a complete build series in the end. 👍
Desde Bogotá Colombia. Frank estoy. Uscando el capitulo 4 pero no mo encuentro. No se si ya lo publicó. Magnifico trabajo.
Part 4 is still in progress. I’ve been very busy, and haven’t had the time to work on it. Stay tuned. It will eventually get published. 👍
i find the design without spar doublers to be very brittle with those two spars being separated only by soft balsa wood. at least two or three pieces along the wing length
Hi Frank, have not seen anything from you for a while. Hope all is well with you.
Thanks for noticing. All is well. The build will continue soon. I want to get this Sukhoi finished, so I can start the next build.
Sure seems to be an overly difficult and complicated wing to build. Kidos for your techniques.
Thanks! It’s definitely not the typical Goldberg build style that I’m used to seeing.
