I like the idea that Penelope broke up with Bentley over his obsession with Sly and the gang, but I think this was handled horribly. How could they do this to her? If you remember back sly 3 they really cared about her, and because Bentley and the gang risked their lives to save her from a smart Alec pirate, she could tell in her heart they need her by their side, man I find it heartbreaking to see this happen to Bentley, if you knew who Penelope was in the 3rd game you could tell she would never do this to him. She really loved him and wanted to stay with Bentley forever. If there's ever a 5th sly cooper game, I hope she returns to the good side, because this ain't her never was never will be. optimusN64 I still wouldn’t trust her plus she was the Black Baron! You can’t trust her once oh ever, she tried to kill Sly, and I’ve played every sly cooper game.
I have no idea why they made penelope the traitor here. In sly 3, she wasnt not like the penelope on sly 4. She showed kindness, and also in the pirates episode, she fought lefwee for the cooper gang and yet she left the gang to rule the world and stuff. She NEVER showed that kind of personality in sly 3. It would be better off if the creators of the sly series didn't make the part of penelope's betrayal.
I wouldn't call it a betrayal. The gang had been disbanded for a long, long time. She no longer held feelings for the gang, but rather her husband/boyfriend, Bentley. Then, when her lover openly mocks her and basically says that he cares more for the gang than for her, she snaps and lashes out at him.

Well her mark on Le Paradox’s time blimp and the Black Knight’s armour kinda gave it away, But I still hate the way they made Penelope in Sly 4, She was way better in Sly 3.
The game honestly didn't do very much to hide it, and that's *before* you even reach this chapter. Think about it. She disappears prior to the story, some new villain just so conveniently happens to have his own time travel equipment, the end of chapter 2 has Sly questioning where Le Paradox got said time travel equipment *in the first place.* Like, sure it wasn't super obvious at first, but the moment Sly said that is when I got suspicious. And sure enough, my hunch was proven correct.
And even from the beginning, making her disappear without a trace and no progressing clues up until the revelation smelled something's obviously wrong. I had the hunch from the beginning. I mean yeah, people might get surprised but people getting upset and don't want to accept it? As if this cliché hasn't been played out in a lot of stories, movies, games, etc.
Yeah, I’m still mad about this. Seriously, WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO MY GIRL?! If they’d said she was being mind-controlled by Miss Decibel, or was undercover to sabotage Le Paradox’s operations from the inside, or even that Le Paradox was threatening Bentley to force Penelope to work for him, I would’ve been totally cool with it. THIS is a complete decimation of Penelope as a character.
Unfortunately it feels like she fell victim to lazy writing It's easy to make a storyline out of conflict, much harder to pick up from where Honor Among Thieves left off (two people who not only love and support each other, but are made better for being in each other's lives rather than apart) If they ever DO make a 5th game I hope they either retcon or solve this somehow, otherwise HAT is where the series ends for me
My hope? That this isn't this time line's Penelope. Think about it: what happens if Sly during the next game, attempting to get back home from Ancient Egypt, goes into the FUTURE instead? A terrible dystopian future. A future where "The Bandit King", an evil crime lord rules the world with an iron fist. Sly sees the terror wrought by this monster and soon discovers....that HE is the The Bandit King. What if this Penelope came from the future (would explain the perfected Time Machine tech she gave Paradox) filled with hate against Sly because of his transformation into a cruel despot? What if her anger against ole' Benny Boy is because she saw him turn into just another burned out slave of the now-evil Sly Cooper? Yeah, yeah....I KNOW it's a silly idea. But it would be nice...
Better yet, if the Bandit King was Sly's son, a half-raccoon half-fox mogrel whose connections allowed him to skirt the law and control the world. Bentley, feeling indebted to Sly, serves the Son like a slave. Somehow I don't see Sly ever becoming a tyrant. But future generations might become tainted with greed.
You know there is some evidence that sir raleigh was originally supposed to be the villain of 'Of mice and Mech' Within the episode Of Mice and Mechs, there are a number of frog statues and frog motifs. The taverns are named after frogs, which is also pointed out in the loading screens for no reason. The safe treasure in the episode is also frog themed, and it's Sir Raleigh's top hat. Sir Raleigh is also an Englishman, who would probably feel at home in the medieval England setting, and he has a fondness for machines, so he could easily have built the mechanical henchmen in the level. This is why Penelope's betrayal of the team was so shoe-horned and nonsensical. Because it wasn't meant to be Penelope in the first place. Sir Raleigh, as a nod to the first game, was meant to make a comeback as a villain.
I think over the years Penelope felt Sly was holding him back since Bently is a genius and could do great things like cure cancer or somthing, she probably thought if Sly was out of the way there would be nothing in Bently's way.
I'll be honest. This part made me mad, like really mad!! Who the hell thought it would be a good idea to turn Penelope from a sweet and caring friend into a villain?! And why? Cause she thought Sly was holding Bentley back from taking over the world with her?! I know she's a mouse but what is this 'Penelope and the Brain'?! Did the developers do their research on her character? How she was in love with Sly at one point before Bently won her heart? How she was dedicate to the team and cared about her friends? How she saved Murray's life when Tsao tried to blow him up?! It just doesn't make any sense and there was no transition whatsoever!! Here's what I would believe: what if instead of betraying them she was captured by Le Paradox and brainwashed by Ms Decibel into believing the garbage excuse the writers gave her about Sly being a hindrance on Bentley? That I could believe far more than what they did here. And then when she imprisoned the brainwashing wore off and so she escaped to try and find Sly on her own in order to redeem herself in Bentley's eyes?
We actually know absolutely NOTHING about Penelope. She was under an assumed name for her introductory chapter, she seems to take actual delight in killing goons. (Listen to her taunts when she sends them flying) and also, she KILLS LeFwee in her boss fight, instead of just KOing them, something SLy has never been onboard with. (He KOs goons, and leaves the bigger bads for interpol.)
@@corjonbett ok, so...how are they suppose to let Interpol arrests him, there's no law in the area they're in. hell, it's the only area where Carmelita doesn't show up, showing that the law has no grip on the area. and she didn't kill him, all she did was knock him off the ship, the sharks are what did him in.
@@noahbusch7542 Nah? And then I just wonder what happened to Penelope’s giant robot knight in the Medieval Ages that was altered by modern technology? I just hope that Cooper Gang cleans the past up with something else like the mouse girl’s mess.
I agree with you. What they did to Penelope in this game excluding the character model because now she has a tail unlike the third game, what they did to her in this game I think it’s stupid. I honestly think it’s really stupid.
I am so glad I'm not the only one who is upset about Penelope being a villain. Sure we didn't know much about her past before but it doesn't seem like it mattered in the end. And now she is going off saying Bentley is waisting potential with Sly and junk which isn't true. Sanzaru better find a way to fix this in the next game and not make her a villain again and Clockwerk better make a return
Arpeggio states that he never placed clockwerk's brain in the body so he can have a chance at revival as we see easter eggs of him throughout the game most likely with a new body
No the brain was in there. Arpeggio put all of the pieces together. You can even see Clockwerk’s personality take over Neyla’s towards the end of the battle.
6:00 Faruq (the announcer in battle bots) voice: In the red corner, chief machinist for Le Paradox, former dogfighter, gang member, mechanic, heart breaker and ex-girlfriend of her opponent. Penelope the Rat with her mech. It’s big, it’s round, it will pound you to the ground. The Black Knight! (Crowd booing and throwing tomatos at her) Faruq: And in the blue corner, he might not have the ability to walk or sense of fashion, but he makes up for it with brain power as strong as the Hulk, a shell as tough as metal, and loyalty to his gang and friends as big as a house. Give it up for Bentley the turtle and his mech. It’s a one robot apocalypse… flee before the Moat monster! (Crowd cheering)
However good or bad you think Sanzaru's writing for this scene was, it does show that money is not Penelope's ONLY motivation. She probably sees money the way she sees Le Paradox...'a means to an end'. The same with the weapons she wanted to make with Bentley, but he no doubt refused due to his moral code. Which rubbed off on him from Sly, thus fueling Penelope's frustration.
Great point tbh especially when you account for her starting off as the Baron and being fine with money just for gain. Bentley had a test of his morality with this and I think it stayed true and even shown the reflection from when he was tested on a big decision like when the Contessa had taken the gang uk
Just thinking of that part in Sly 3 when Murray said to her you pretty good at breaking stuff in that General Tsao's final mission, guessing Bentley's heart is one of them now
I think it was during Bentley's follow mission that i realized who the Black Knight was, I just thought "wait robots, surveilance blimps, and machinery, plus Penelop used to be the Black Baron..." and piecing it together.
Penelope kinda reminds me of terra from teen titans: both of them were originally friends of the main heroes, both were the love interest of one of the heroes ( beast boy and Bentley) both eventually became a villain for the main villian. However, unlike terra Penelope never redeemed herself or try to make up for her mistakes.
Funny Penelope use to have a crush on Sly before she got with Bentley in Sly 3 and now she stabs the poor turtle in the back by joining Le Paradox and trying to kill her boyfriend's...scratch that EX boyfriend's best friend and destroying his family legacy some part of me always knew she was a brat
Well in Sly 3 when she played the Black Barren she was always picky about working with the best and when Sly kicked her butt at the airplain tournament she crushed on Sly cause he won till Bentley saves her from Le Fwe the pirate and looked at him as the best so I figured she was bratty of her test in the best if you know what I mean
+Jeronimo McArthur Yh that makes alot of sense she's never satisfied she a always looking for the better version. but I thought she really liked Bentley never thought it would come to this.
Well...she did in a way it's just she went behind his back cause she figured Bentley didn't know he was living in Sly's shadow and was held back and hoped Bentley would stand with her on her plan but Bentley chosed his good friend who was always there for him then his back stabbing ex
what i never understood is how in thieves in time penelope says part of her betrayal was because sly and his group were chasing honor for chump change, but this line never sat right with me when you consider that at the end of sly 3, sly leaves a literal CAVE OF TREASURE for them to have, so many writing decisions in that game never sat right with me.
It's kind of obvious Penelope will be back if they make Sly 5. Besides, it wouldn't the first time a villain has been redeemed. Only this time it's in reverse.
I remember this plot twist was the base breaker. I hope in the next game they detail exactly how she went from being such an avid member of the team to considering Sly's ideology a bunch of bull, as otherwise it seems kind of forced.
Penelope betraying the gang was just awful. But Bentley didn’t exactly open up to her reasoning. Does he really think Le Paradox has all the power in the world to not let anyone get in his way? If he does then why are they even trying to stop him? The point is, it feels like he doesn’t believe Penelope can turn on Le Paradox like she did them. Regardless, if a 5th game ever does come out, not only does Penelope need redemption, but Bentley needs renewed faith in her.
Yeah, Bentley's response here always bothered me. Panelope makes it VERY clear that Le Paradox never had the kind of leverage on her that Bentley thought he had, and dismissed him as a means to an end. What exactly makes Bentley think Le Paradox has the power to control Panelope when most of the power he's using is literally FROM her? Idk. It comes off as condescending, and because his point was weak, it really didn't do much to dissuade her at all.
You know, it would've made more sense if Raleigh was the Black Knight since he would've had a grudge against Sly for getting the crap kicked out of him in the first game, and he has the skills to accomplish what was seen in this level so what would've made sense is if La Paradox broke him out of prison and made him a deal to get revenge on Sly since they would've had a common enemy.
TheStorysOfDeath thank lord bentley found someone new,a cheetah????,well at least it better than that back stabbing traitor penelope,i was happy with penelope when sly cooper 3 because she was cool with her remote control airplane n that race car but then she betray them and call bentley dumb playing with his feeling.ooooohhhhh i hope they never go back together again!!!! p.s is this cheetah is smart like bentley and also how did your cousin know about sly cooper 5
adams darwins i dont know really but i think she is smart but i was talking to her saying omg i hope Bentley gets a new girlfriend and she said yea he does... Its 10 times faster then him... its a cheetah. she say she watched a video on it
What the heck did they do to Penelope?! This whole world domination bit was never something she was in to in the 3rd game. There was never any hint of her being so greedy and wanting of power, in fact it was the exact opposite! Geez, the idea that she was providing the tech for all the bases was good enough without her having to be a bad guy to! They could have just had her be brainwashed by that Elephant woman, thus leaving a clue as to what the next boss would have been capable of, but noo! They had to put in a twisted kind of twist and make her evil all of a sudden. Lazy writing.
Ahem. 1. While pretending to be the Baron, she nearly kills Sly by throwing him off a plane and only gives up when she clearly sees there's no chance she'll win. 2. While inspecting the chest to figure out how to open it, she gets blinded. Apparently. Even though she's wearing goggles and they "mysteriously" slide above her eyes when the chest opens. 3. She murders the pirate man by throwing him to the sharks. After slicing him with a sword a bunch of times. How many times has Sly, Bentley, and Murray killed their enemies? Once, if you count the machine with a grudge. 4. Evil Penelope is so guud and will probably redeem herself in the future anyway. So Why do people find Penelope going traitor so far fetched again? Someone give me good reasons beyond "She helped Sly's gang in the first game" for once, Pleeeease!
MadMachinist She was good because she actually had a thing for Bentley and she even stated that she’s doing all of this for him, believing that Sly is using Bentley in the same manner that Sly’s dad did with Dr. M. However that’s not true because the three of them each actually treat one another like family (whereas with Conner Cooper, Sly’s dad, his gang were friends at best) She may be a bit more rougher than the Cooper Gang, but she was part of a large dog fighting tournament that involved potential death for years, so it’s natural she’d be adjusted to that form of combat. On top of that, there’s no signs of her actually being a traitor in Sly 3. If she wanted to, she could have taken Sly’s cane in the third game and given it to Dr. M when the gang had their guard down at their lowest point. That would have proven far better than to go back in time and try to wipe the Cooper name. Another thing, putting on the goggles during that flash bang meant nothing. They aren’t wielding goggles and Penelope had no reason to act like she was blind because she wouldn’t have gotten anything out of it.
Well one reason is because after the Neyla betrayal, the developers needed someone who can reassure the cooper gang and the players that the new additions to the gang aren’t going to betray them, especially for former enemies panda king and Dimitri, which is why they made the mystical guru, the only cooper member with no criminal past, to approve that the new members are legit. Unfortunately sanzaru seemed to have missed that small bit.
I can think of a WAY better idea for this instead of her betraying them. The Black Knight is revealed to be none other than Sir Raleigh the frog! The first enemy Sly faced, using Penelope as a prisoner to help him build those mechanical knights. Paradox wanted to capture Bentley to build their own time machine, but when his goons went to catch him, Bentley was out getting food, so with him not around, they caught Penelope instead. After freeing her she becomes a playable character with the ability to use drones. What do you all think?
I've been dumped a bunch of times in my life (actually, one relationship didn't work out, and the other two relationships resulted in an instance of cheating on another guy). I've seen many shocking moments in video games, but this one broke my heart. Penelope seemed so sweet. At first, I thought she would make a great sidekick to the Cooper gang in upcoming games. To be honest, I didn't expect something like this to happen in a video game. Ever. This is still an outstanding game though. Well played!
Thanks, man! XD Seriously, I feel a lot better now that you said that. I'm out of school now, so it's getting gradually easier to forget about my depression.
I thought the identity of the black knight was Raleigh, the first sly villain, he also inviented big machines, it would have been great to see him again
Penelope would never do this canonically... remember when she retrive Sly's cane? Remember when she rescued Murray's van and protected him from being killed from a whole army of Tsao? Or when she rescued Murray from being exploded by a barril of powder? Remember when she cross swords with the smartest pirate of the seven sees to save Bentley?! She wasn't doing all that just because she had a plan to stole Sly or whatever... she was part of the band and she loved them. This isn't something she would do. Never!
Why penelope is blowing her tongue like a kid ? It's like she is in some revenge stuff but we didn't do anything to her (exept blowing up her plans to builds weapons and get some gain to it.).
Why come up with this plot twist? Wouldn't it have made more sense that La Paradox just captured Penelope and forced her to work for him? I think that would've been the better choice in the story. Who agrees?
Well I would have changed where it would it have been someone like Raleigh (Who is good with mechanics) and have Penelope be hypnotized, and you still fight her for the first part, but for the Bentley part, it would still be the same, except you would fight Raleigh instead of Penelope.
I know people are mad by this betrayal and all and at frist I was kinda mad, too but I kinda peg Penelpe as a scam artist after replaying the games again. That and how quickly she changed her affections from Sly to Bentley. Could also be that I never really cared for Penelope anyway.
If there's a Sly 5, I'm calling that Penelope will be the one to construct Clockwerk. Time-proof technology & a unwarranted hatred for the Cooper family? I can name a guess where that came from...
At the end of the game when Bentley is talking about where everyone is now, Bentley says that Penelope escaped from prison and was sending Bentley mysterious postcards indicating that there will be some sort of action or story from Penelope in the next game. If there is another one.
7:05 Bentley: This is for breaking my heart and selling us out "Falcon Punch!!" to Penelope's face. When I saw the part where Black Knight is Penelope the first time I freaked out and after seeing this part and defeating Penelope I wanted to kill Le Paradox so badly like my levels to kill Le Paradox went through the roof, off the charts like 700%
let's be honest for one second here people; while i share in the dislike that they did this to Penelope, realistically there was no other way for the plot of this game to happen without this twist. Bentley was the only person in the world who had plans for a time machine, and you know he'd have those plans locked up tighter than Fort Knox. and if Bentley is as smart as we've come to expect of him over the course of 3-4 games then it's doubtful that anyone could hack his security systems. the only people at that point who could get to the plans were Bentley himself, or someone he trusted enough with the key to the vault
Le Paradox probably found it easy to manipulate Penelope, due to her brewing resentment of Bentley taking his job of safeguarding the Cooper legacy VERY seriously, plus adopting most of Sly's morals.
The thing is that Penelope's betrayal was very forced. They just did it to make the game more interesting. It does not make sense... Penelope was a very sweet and kind girl in Sly 3. There is no way she had such a twisted and sadistic side beneath (if you listen to what the Black Knight mutters to herself you will be shocked). Also, she thought Bentley was wasting his potential with Sly even after the gang DISBANDED? She left him while he wasn't even working for Sly anymore?? Major story flaw...
Actually the development was chaotic since the beggining, they wasted 1-2 years of development only to scrap it and start it again. Sony put a deadline to the game´s release date cuz they wanted the game launched as fast as possible. Also a DLC was cancelled in favor of Vita´s port.
"looks like I gotta take those arms out again" Y tho? Just yeet another bomb at the chest. Also, this mega mech is so strong, but a few arrows can tear it to shreds.
I think the logic was by making Penelope the bad guy, people would talk about it and this game would get sales. The problem is, that’s stupid and doesn’t make any sense.
I just discovered that Penelope's VA also did the voice for Freddi Fish in those Humongous Entertainment kids games back in the day. From wholesome happy fish, to plotting semi-crazed mouse X)
I think they made Penelope make a stupid betrayal decision just to show Bentley being UTTERLY disappointed in her. I realize now that Penelopy's betrayal was VERY unnecessary.
You might be. It's been awhile since I've played Sly three but I remember Penelope being like this. Also the colossal stupidity of a someone who has worked with the Cooper gang thinking they can away with doing them wrong is just bewildering. It's like a retcon now every time I play sly three I'm just going to remember her eventual back stab.
This boss fight KILLED ME. the stupid reversed controls for aiming the arrows made it incredibly difficult for me. I actually had to get a friend to come over and do that awful carnival target practice mini, because I was seconds away from throwing something lol
Wait a sec, when she became a black baron, she was anonymous telling cooper gang that she will join if they beaten the black baron. So they did beat the black baron which is penelope and joined the team to help sly get into the cooper vault. One thing the group didnt realize was that she was using them.
Bentley's joke about 2005 near the end of the fight is a reference to the fact "Honor Among Thieves", the game Penelope debuted in, was released in 2005.
Bentley: "Why'd you do it, Penelope?"
Penelope: "Idk. Writers?"
This comes back to bite her in my fanfiction!

It's easy to make a storyline out of conflict, much harder to pick up from where Honor Among Thieves left off (two people who not only love and support each other, but are made better for being in each other's lives rather than apart)
If they ever DO make a 5th game I hope they either retcon or solve this somehow, otherwise HAT is where the series ends for me
Perhaps she was mind-controlled, or at least corrupted, by Miss decibel and they were going to reveal that in the sequel they wanted but never got.
Bentley mentioned 2005, the year that Sly Cooper 3 debuted.
Coincidence???
I think NOT!!!

Maybe it’s an upgraded version of her black baron suit?
That's... actually a pretty good idea.
I want to see this happen so badly o.o
graph180 That is by far the best theory/idea of how to handle another game.
Ironically this video was uploaded on Valentine's Day.
God, I love the Sly Cooper series
Me too! That's why I named my channel after the series!
I think over the years Penelope felt Sly was holding him back since Bently is a genius and could do great things like cure cancer or somthing, she probably thought if Sly was out of the way there would be nothing in Bently's way.
Does anyone else wonder what happens to The Panda King?
Probably has good life watching over jin king.
Four awesome Dancing chicks hook up is a new term for kidnapped nowadays cool.
Or the Guru?
He probably retired
He being the father his daughter needs and protect her from the wrong kind of suitors until the right one comes..... which might be a while.
Honestly, this is the same girl who was once the freaking Black Baron. Her betrayal was surprising but not THAT much of a shock. ^^;
why is everything she represents "black"?
@@purplebard7349 Because black is cool
@@idontgiveashit7903 no it's edgy. Not in Sly Cooper series' case but normally yeetus
When Sly fought Penelope in this game it wasn't the first, it's like ending the same way they started

Nah
Question is how WILL Clockwerk return? His main source of power has been destroyed and his parts are probably dust by now.
Arpeggio states that he never placed clockwerk's brain in the body so he can have a chance at revival as we see easter eggs of him throughout the game most likely with a new body
@@zombielion3020 Oh I must have missed that part then. Wow.
No the brain was in there. Arpeggio put all of the pieces together. You can even see Clockwerk’s personality take over Neyla’s towards the end of the battle.
Clockwerk can make a return... in Ancient Egypt.
hey bently is right, hes not one of the bad guys. hes a thief but has a heart and helps out on the good side.

(Crowd cheering)
This comes back to bite her in my fanfiction!
Just thinking of that part in Sly 3 when Murray said to her you pretty good at breaking stuff in that General Tsao's final mission, guessing Bentley's heart is one of them now
Zee Realized how much It is a great way to go to the point of view
...Why must you hurt me in this way?
Damn im sad now- 😔
I think it was during Bentley's follow mission that i realized who the Black Knight was, I just thought "wait robots, surveilance blimps, and machinery, plus Penelop used to be the Black Baron..." and piecing it together.
More specifc, listen to how the Black Knight speaks during the follow mission, its WAY similar to the Black Baron's speech when you followed him.
I couldn’t believe Penelope betrayed and abandoned Bentley because of working with Sly
Terra.
It still upsets me to think about Penelope.

Alas, sweet Penelope.
Parting is such sweet sorrow...
It's too bad we'll likely never get a Sly 5. I'd love to see Penelope face justice.
Funny Penelope use to have a crush on Sly before she got with Bentley in Sly 3 and now she stabs the poor turtle in the back by joining Le Paradox and trying to kill her boyfriend's...scratch that EX boyfriend's best friend and destroying his family legacy some part of me always knew she was a brat
what made come to that conclusion.
+Jeronimo McArthur Bentley made a good solid decision but was her plan for Bentley leave the sly gang and do what afterwards?
what i never understood is how in thieves in time penelope says part of her betrayal was because sly and his group were chasing honor for chump change, but this line never sat right with me when you consider that at the end of sly 3, sly leaves a literal CAVE OF TREASURE for them to have, so many writing decisions in that game never sat right with me.
I miss Clockwerk. :(

It's kind of obvious Penelope will be back if they make Sly 5. Besides, it wouldn't the first time a villain has been redeemed. Only this time it's in reverse.
Are you talking about Dimitri and Panda king (The latter one only in the 3rd game) when talking about redeemed villains?
Her betrayal truly made no sense.
I agree with everyone that this plot twist just doesn't make sense. Hell the sequence of this part doesn't make sense either.
He's awfully happy for a guy who just broke up with his girlfriend, via a physical altercation.
MY SON DOESN'T DESERVE THIS. I'm not kidding, Bentley is my favorite, and did not deserve being backstabbed.
couples just remember don`t you use a fighting robot when your about to break up
I remember this plot twist was the base breaker.
I'm trying to figure out why Penelope didn't close the chest before she started to fight Bentley. That knockout punch was square on that spot
Poor Bentley...
And that betrayal came out of no where. Like, what?
You know, it would've made more sense if Raleigh was the Black Knight since he would've had a grudge against Sly for getting the crap kicked out of him in the first game, and he has the skills to accomplish what was seen in this level so what would've made sense is if La Paradox broke him out of prison and made him a deal to get revenge on Sly since they would've had a common enemy.
"I'm nobody's Puppet!" That insignia on your chest says otherwise.
Clearly she was planning to double-cross Le Paradox before he can.
I'm so sad about penelope... maybe a fifth game will do the trick and make her good again
''That mech design is so 2005''. Sly 3 was released in that year :P
Poor Bentley, man! 😢
When they make sly cooper 5 make sure bentley find a new girlfriend

This ain't a plot twist, this is just straight up plot poison
What the heck did they do to Penelope?! This whole world domination bit was never something she was in to in the 3rd game. There was never any hint of her being so greedy and wanting of power, in fact it was the exact opposite! Geez, the idea that she was providing the tech for all the bases was good enough without her having to be a bad guy to! They could have just had her be brainwashed by that Elephant woman, thus leaving a clue as to what the next boss would have been capable of, but noo! They had to put in a twisted kind of twist and make her evil all of a sudden. Lazy writing.
Her being brainwashed by Ms. Decibel is my head-canon.
newcollector I just finished watching sly 3 lets play so now rewatching sly 4 I agree i am mad about that
Ahem.
M. However that’s not true because the three of them each actually treat one another like family (whereas with Conner Cooper, Sly’s dad, his gang were friends at best)
She may be a bit more rougher than the Cooper Gang, but she was part of a large dog fighting tournament that involved potential death for years, so it’s natural she’d be adjusted to that form of combat.
SO MUCH BETTER
yeah, makes a lot of sense, also that was kind of the original idea except a new character captures Penelope instead of Raleigh
Those girls didn't deserve you. Don't give up.
Thanks, man! XD
Seriously, I feel a lot better now that you said that. I'm out of school now, so it's getting gradually easier to forget about my depression.
I thought the identity of the black knight was Raleigh, the first sly villain, he also inviented big machines, it would have been great to see him again
It should've been him instead of this
OMG that would have been pretty cool
Yeah, I liked the guy
Since this game wasn't made by Sucker Punch, I can ignore this game along with it's character assassination of Penelope.
I really hate Sanzaru for ruining the Penelope character. I hate how every 4th installment of a franchise always ruining a perfect trilogy.
I love how this leans into the villains being, villainous! The tone is what matters, and they did a great job here.
At least they kept Dimitri's theme. It's just epic
"that mech design was so 2005" made my day :P

LOL! XD
Never!
Hi
Chudaiiiiiii ❤
Why penelope is blowing her tongue like a kid ? It's like she is in some revenge stuff but we didn't do anything to her (exept blowing up her plans to builds weapons and get some gain to it.).
I loved Sly 4, still hoping they do a Sly 5, hit on the other ancestors and wrap up the story.
Jestergirl The funny lady I could see that.
Daniel Heidenreich I could see that
I think the true reason while Penelope betrayed the Cooper Gang is because she wanted to avenge Clockwerk’s death. (Or Neyla’s...)
Jestergirl the funny lady thats what I was thinking similar too
I know people are mad by this betrayal and all and at frist I was kinda mad, too but I kinda peg Penelpe as a scam artist after replaying the games again. That and how quickly she changed her affections from Sly to Bentley. Could also be that I never really cared for Penelope anyway.
5:19 I LOVE that double facepalm. It’s ALWAYS made me crack up!
If there's a Sly 5, I'm calling that Penelope will be the one to construct Clockwerk. Time-proof technology & a unwarranted hatred for the Cooper family? I can name a guess where that came from...
Graphics aged very well.
At the end of the game when Bentley is talking about where everyone is now, Bentley says that Penelope escaped from prison and was sending Bentley mysterious postcards indicating that there will be some sort of action or story from Penelope in the next game. If there is another one.
7:05 Bentley: This is for breaking my heart and selling us out
"Falcon Punch!!" to Penelope's face.
When I saw the part where Black Knight is Penelope the first time I freaked out and after seeing this part and defeating Penelope I wanted to kill Le Paradox so badly like my levels to kill Le Paradox went through the roof, off the charts like 700%
What they did to Penelope in this game. I think it's stupid. I honestly think it's really stupid and ridiculous.
Penelope sounds like Gadget from Disney's: Chip and Dale the Rescue Rangers.
5:19 That double facepalm is HYSTERICAL. 😂😂😂

Did he say "Score 1 for the gay guys"?
I think he did XD
Awesome Saint 40 Since he's dressed as Robin Hood it was probably a reference to the Merry Men, since gay used to mean happy.
Pretty sure he said "Score one for the good guys."
I think he said, "Score one for the game, guys."
Yeah he said Score one for the good guys. Heard it when I was fighting the last boss.
I wondered why Penelope didn't close the the door on the Black Knight's chest ... she left herself wide open for that knockout punch
let's be honest for one second here people; while i share in the dislike that they did this to Penelope, realistically there was no other way for the plot of this game to happen without this twist.
Le Paradox probably found it easy to manipulate Penelope, due to her brewing resentment of Bentley taking his job of safeguarding the Cooper legacy VERY seriously, plus adopting most of Sly's morals.
the look on Sly's face when he said "know anyone that can swing that?"
Sanzaru Games wrote the story script very poorly. if Sucker Punch develops Sly 5 they must turn Penelope good somehow.
Actually the development was chaotic since the beggining, they wasted 1-2 years of development only to scrap it and start it again.
Sony put a deadline to the game´s release date cuz they wanted the game launched as fast as possible.
Also a DLC was cancelled in favor of Vita´s port.
This is the only time Bentley walks on two legs after Sly 2, just wanted to point that out.
"looks like I gotta take those arms out again"
Y tho? Just yeet another bomb at the chest.
Also, this mega mech is so strong, but a few arrows can tear it to shreds.
Bentley went from simp to chad in one fight. My man literally went yujiro hanma on her
Oh she'll be back. During the end credits it says that she broke out of jail. Something tells me that she'll be back for revenge :)
Why does Penelope need mech armor to fight Sly when she fought him with just her *BARE HANDS* (and some guard help) in Flight of Fancy?
I hate this moment back in 2013 and I still hate this moment.
If Sanzaru Games come to get more about Sly, I would like to meet his father.
Wait a sec, when she became a black baron, she was anonymous telling cooper gang that she will join if they beaten the black baron. So they did beat the black baron which is penelope and joined the team to help sly get into the cooper vault. One thing the group didnt realize was that she was using them.
There's a similarity or two between this boss fight, and the boss fight against Prescott in Epic Mickey 2.
the changeing of carmalitas voice actor is a tradition of sly cooper games
Bentley's joke about 2005 near the end of the fight is a reference to the fact "Honor Among Thieves", the game Penelope debuted in, was released in 2005.
5:59 At that moment, I always like to say: "Fine, have it your way!"
