When he said that, I knew you were donating it to the school, you wouldn't rip something that nice apart to make a camper. Cassie - I'm sure you know about those knobs you can attach to a steering wheel to give you improved steering with one hand -- my dad used one following an elbow fracture and it worked great -- but maybe you shouldn't be driving much during this convalescence time. Wow! The exterior is impressive! Very impressed with the boys' rooms -- VERY IMPRESSED! (I have 2 younger brothers who shared a room -- my sister and I almost never ventured inside!) Cassie -- you might want to have your foot/toes straightened for future endeavors rather than sticking with your comment that as long as you can walk on it . . .. You should talk to a physical therapist about the future for you if left alone vs straightening now. It's almost a given that you'll have arthritis there and maybe it will be better for you in 20 years to attend to it now. Believe me, arthritis is no joke. xxoo

I have not seen Cassie so happy and giddy!! I am so happy for you all and your church! I can only imagine the looks on those kids' faces when they ride it for the first time. As far as the paint on the side, would you be able to remove the letters, then paint over it? Would be neat to have a contest for kids to suggest what to paint on it? Maybe a picture of the team mascot? I don't know, I am just still so happy and excited to see the reaction of Cassie and when the teams get to ride on it. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Hi Gary & Cassie, to remove the letters from the bus, I use a heat gun & plastic razor blades, to remove the leftover adhesive I use goof off or goo b-gone adhesive remover spray. You may be able to remove the letters by just letting the sun beat on it then scraping them off. Putting lettering on is fairly straightforward just make sure it’s level, tape it in place, put a strip of tape down the middle fold back one side, remove the backing paper & squeegee or rub to set in place, remove the center tape and repeat on the other side then use a credit card to remove bubbles & remove application tape.
You are really a family that does so much for your private church and school and it is one of the most amazing things a person can do for the entire congregation . Small schools and churches are finding it harder and harder to stay open. With this donation your family has made it happen. Your whole family is a blessing.
I worked for bus company as a praprofessional. (handicapped students) and your bus looks new. The schools in the area don't own a bus for same reason cost. The company I worked for has about 8 different bus depots in different areas. I miss it but my body doesn't riding on the back of a bus at 65 is not easy. And also having combative students not easy either. You have to forgive them the students don't relize how much they hurt or they are just frightened. I had a child spit into my face I just held my hand in front of his mouth without touching him until he stop. Asked if he was done he sat down and put his seat belt on. I got cleaned up. I don't miss that part but I miss the way I felt after the day was over. It was very rewarding. Congrats on your bus. I did think you were going to convert.
2 methods for the letters…depending how stuck on that are… 1st method you can use a clothes steamer. You’ll want to get it really steamed up to get an edge up and go slow so that the glue comes off with the sticker. Second method if you want it to be a little quicker…heat gun to get the vinyl off then goo gone to get rid of the residue. (I can be a little impatient so this is the method I generally use when removing vinyl stickers from vehicles).

I have had a lot of experience with decal removal in the automotive paint end. A heat gun to remove the decal and rapid remover for glue residue. It will still leave an outline of the letters if they were on long. Unless you sand and prime and seal before repainting. Sometimes you can lighten the effect by light sanding and buffing. A new decal will be easier but buff it first!!! I was so excited thinking you were turning it into a camper I cried. My Dad turned our bus into a camper back in the 70s. Wow! Memories! I drove a school bus for 30 yrs. for public schools in my town. We have 60+ drivers. Over that 30 yrs bus 10 was one of my busses! I drove that bus for 7 yrs. Oh the memories and all the stories I can tell lol. Was the best job there ever could have been for me! I loved it.

I suggest looking at TH-cam videos where people purchased a school bus to convert into a skoolie for living in. I know I have seen several that showed how they got the decals from prior use off. Definitely a blessing for the school.

I was told by the ER Doctor to tape my little toe that I had broken to the next one. That was all they could do for it.
Wholly agree on the getting the toes as best as possible, while one has the chance!

Wow! Memories! I drove a school bus for 30 yrs. for public schools in my town. We have 60+ drivers. Over that 30 yrs bus 10 was one of my busses! I drove that bus for 7 yrs. Oh the memories and all the stories I can tell lol. Was the best job there ever could have been for me! I loved it.

I suggest looking at TH-cam videos where people purchased a school bus to convert into a skoolie for living in. I know I have seen several that showed how they got the decals from prior use off. Definitely a blessing for the school.
