NO WAY THIS GUY IS LIKE MY UNCLE! He and my dad have been friends for maybe 20 years!!!!!! This is so cool, I’m so glad he’s getting recognition. Wow, this is just so cool.
Flash street photography takes some serious confidence, and Amado certainly does not lack in confidence. This episode had me watching through my fingers at times. I can appreciate that. Some great photos and certainly a lot to take from this episode. Congrats again on 100k Paulie🤝
Confidence is one ting, but sticking a camera in a childs face and flashing a light, completely ignoring the child's sense of security and certainly scaring the parents, is not confidence. It is stepping over a line. Just because something is technically legal, doesn't make it a good thing. Be a human first and a photographer second.
@@laurencewhite4809 I agree. Some of my favourite street photos involve children, but as touched upon, using a flash adds a whole other dynamic and essentially takes away any form of perceived ‘stealth’. As you’ve said, just because you can, doesn’t always mean that you should. This particular scene certainly had me cringing.
Apart from street photography being legal or not, I think it is quite an interesting ethical discussion. I totally get the point of people being in a public space having kind of to accept that they are filmed and photographed, on the other hand, there is still a right to privacy. I would argue that is even true in public spaces. So I find it really interesting to see how these street photographers handle that. Love the series. It helps me get comfortable around the streets of my hometown of Berlin Germany, where privacy rights are quite a bit different compared to the US. Thanks Paulie ❤
It is not always street photography. I was photographing a pier in North Carolina last weekend with a 70-200 and had an angry guy run at me in the dark - it was extremely dark. I was staying in a house in front of where I was shooting. Apparently, he was trying to have sex with a woman on a towel nearby and thought I was photographing them. Crazy experience.
@@danwoodliefphotography871yeah, I think when people finally have a confrontation they will be surprised that they’re being yelled for something totally unexpected.
Flash is so cool it's awesome to see people like Amado who are so comfortable with putting themselves out there. I hope i can learn to be this outward some day
This episode is top 5 in the whole series so far imo. Amado is teaching us so much about photography in such an effortless way. And when you see how amazing his photos are, it makes you want to go straight outside and get to shooting.
30:13 can we just appreciate the editting being done and the photo-selection in accordance with what's being talked about? I have been going back and rewatching from the first walkie-talkie. It's amazing how much you've grown and evolved in this process Paulie.
Hey Paulie, great stuff as always! And Amado captures such unique moments, has an eye definitely!! Another kudos for editing, the was photos shown in the connection to what is being said is phenomenal!! E.g. "How to navigate through that interaction..." and the photo with the map appears. Bravo!
I met Amado on the streets of Chicago once when I was in town to see a friend and he was doing his THANG It was a lot of fun seeing how he works and what he usually goes for with the context of everything going on in the background
I shoot the exact same spots on mag mile constantly in a different style. Sometimes as invasive as the flash style in this video and other times a little more discreet. It feels so surreal to see every spot I shoot done in this format. Super cool. I need to introduce myself, I'm sure we'd have plenty to talk about.
Loved this video! Born and raised in the Chicago Burbs so the city has a place in my heart. It's great seeing street photography from Chitown since I'm out on the west coast now, PDX. Amado's friend Dustin Pattison from Portland, OR would be a great subject for a Walkie Talkie. Also can't wait for my hoodie!
Congrats Paulie, been following since the start and just loving your range of content and the many outstanding photographers you feature, you really deserve the 100K…here’s to the next 100,000🍾👏🇦🇺🇬🇧🙏👍Max.
Amando has a great eye but I am personally not a fan of flash. Just my style and preference. Followed him on IG. Great series and just ordered a hoodie. :)
Interesting that the conversation focuses on the right to photograph and him mentioning kids are not off limit, but bro was mad oblivious that he almost got shanked for taking that picture of that kid near the beginning 😳 great walkie talkie and added on IG
Muy buen video Paulie , exelente fotografo invitado ...sin embargo en el minuto 32: 38 (mas o menos ) la foto es de Rui Palha y no de Cartier- Bresson .Gracias .Saludos desde Chile .
I need him to do two things 1 Join Bluesky because I just shared this video because I love this series 2 Come to Baltimore and do a few walkie talkie episodes Thanks in advance!
20:20 i’m a sensitive person, so i simply wouldn’t take a picture of someone after they explicitly ask me to “stop it” and attempt to block my camera. and if i wasn’t aware at the time of their explicit request for me to not photograph them, i would delete or destroy the image. it would never be shared. part of being an avid consumer of these walkie talkies is witnessing different ways of doing photography; even differing from within the same genre “street photography”. interesting episode (so outside of my own methods) and totally not relatable to me in minuscule moments that to someone else would be insignificant 😇
I've got that exact same flash but was always afraid to put it on my digital camera - I thought the older vivitars had too high voltage... but clearly works fine on an M9? Anyone who knows more about flash voltage care to explain!?
I’m in Chicago I would love to come film some BTS for this guy while he’s out shooting. Still very beginner level so deff want to get out my comfort zone. HMU man…. I’m in Rogers Park. 💯
Genuinely inspiring and love his work! I just find the child pictures too far. As a parent I’d react very badly if someone got up in my kids face with a flash like this. Especially if parents are trying to stop it. Does anyone else feel the same or just me?
I would never take a picture of a kid like that either. Also, everyone hates to be flashed, so many frowns in this video. Does he not see their reactions and only thinks of the shot he got beforehand? I think the karma of their reactions outweighs the karma of the results, as impressed as I am with them. Some great shots, not worth it.
I've watched a number of these videos and I don't understand how everyone takes photos SO FAST with zero camera shake?!?!?! HOW?!? I'm a beginner and I've used multiple cameras and lenses so far and if I move too fast I always get a blurry shot....how is everyone so quick but still keeping their subject in focus?? Am I doing something wrong?
This Walkie Talkie idea has mushroomed and has become an incredible creative genius! Please don’t ever stop!
How has he become a creative genius? Please elaborate.
@Mooooty Walkie Talkie is the video series / format, not the guy
@@cdnottprecisely…thank you

the Chicago Talkie! love seeing us chicago street photographers represented
Amazing episode! Love his energy, his confidence using the flash blows me away.

Amado is another level he fully commits to that millisecond moment of seeing the shot I have so much respect for it I winced at some of these!
Love his style, both photographically and that outfit....who could be mad at him? Instant follow for sure!

Yes!! Amado is such a genuine human and an incredible photographer!
this guy is talented.

this guy's photographic eye is very special
Oh yeah, M9, 35 summicron (vintage), 2 mins in I already like this guy! 😀
Entering into the winter months, time to catch up on the literal thousands of walkie talkie videos I haven't seen yet. Keep 'em coming Paulie
REALLY nice photos.
liked this episode a lot. Leon's laughter is contagious :)))

“Food for the soul”. Love that! And I love Amado’s eye! Now I want to try using flash… and to find an M9 😅
It’s Mr. Mag Mile!!!
Those shots are great! talented/ skilled lad
What a talented photographer! So many great shots! I’m just back home from Chicago. I love this city!

Another amazing episode. Love the work. Love the shared passion from everyone you’re interviewing.
Mr Mag Mile himself! Great episode
The priest with the A&F bag photo had me in stitches!
Amado .. YOU'RE FAMOUS!
Great Walkie Talkie!! I liked Amado and his "process" a lot.
Daaaaaamn Paulie, we need a "Attention: you are being filmed" for us video guys!!! Love the hoodie anyways
Love NYC, yet nice to see another city.photographer, he has a nice vibe.
I don't think I could do this with flash, but I am very impressed with his work. A lot of quality shots.
Congrats on 100k thanks for all you do!!

Superb! I would love to see Amado with a 28mm
paulie 🙏
Those beach photos are dope. Uncomfortably too close for me to shoot like that.
not my cup of tea, but keep doing what u love man ❤
Really good
No Comments for Amado De Leon & Happy Diwali 🙏🙏
He is so passionate!!
Ghostface killer 3:50 mark nice!
great video
I like early Gilden; there’s a reason he used that style. This application of flash feels empty; especially the point-blank shot of the old man.
Great work, I swear i've seen him downtown before lol. Chi town baby, love my city. ❤🔥🤘7:43 lol thats Chicago in a nut shell.
Another flash only legend!

Hi Paulie.
A common mistake, but the photo with the pigeons in the staircase is not Bresson's. :)
Cheers. ;)

@7:44 is a whole mixtape cover lol
16:25 savage !
Love the hoody but shipping to the uk is twice the price of the hoody itself 😭
The 3rd photo from HCB is NOT from HCB, it´s Rui Palha from Portugal ( a common mistake on internet )
Damn! my bad HCB!
❤
Them adidas be hurting the heels
I shoot in chicago all the time, I NEVER see this many interesting people there. Never. It's almost always really boring.
Such a missed opportunity only shooting on the mag mile. That’s wild considering how much Chicago has to offer.
Love the vid man. I’d also love to buy your hoodie but on checkout the cheapest international shipping is $70 USD to Australia. Surely not 🙏
Of course there's great photos of children, but i could never photograph children (without adult consent),it just doesn't feel right(for me).
I’m in Chicago I would love to come film some BTS for this guy while he’s out shooting. Still very beginner level so deff want to get out my comfort zone. HMU man…. I’m in Rogers Park. 💯
Admire his passion for photography, I personally don’t like his style of work.

every male photographer think of it.. is it appropriate? Taking photos of women hitting with similar thing

Hi when you are in NYC, i would love to include you in my film if you're interested.
Would love a hoodie but shipping is $60 to Canada....
Would you do a night time walkie if the photographer called for it?
I’ve done a couple of em til midnight & 1am
I want that Hat- I've already got the Camera.. well done man.
sometimes I wonder if street photographers have ever got punched in the face
