    This is genius. Run the analogue in quaters into the dd7 with dotted 8ths. I had the reverse of this and it was a chaotic mess. Dotted 8ths going into quarters didn't work at all. It never dawned on me that it was the order! Thanks so much for this great video!

      I started with a Mooer Reecho, got it second-hand for $35. It's not bad, no subdivisions or tap, just a dial to set delay time. It was good for me, taught me to play with the delay time and not just rely on the tech.
      You can find cheap pedals, dude. Flashback is one I have not used, but people love it.

    All delays all the time. I have four delays on my board. One really short for solos, one for reverse and a digital and analog sounding one with tap tempo. Very useful and very fun to play around with. There are so many great delays. Multiple delays and reverbs make life better.

    I came across your video by chance and I know I’m three years late but you sir really know how to use delay in its full potential. You should also make a full song out of your first melody unless you have already.

    Multiple delays are amazing. if you have an Akai Headrush you can kind of do it in one pedal using just the tape mode, you can get so much rhythmic variation by adjusting the "heads".

    Never been a fan of delay as it is, always keep a Caroline kilobyte on my board with the only purpose of using it for the self oscillation, I got another delay (jack deville dark echo) because of this video and it’s incredible what sounds can be made with two delays

      Austin Butler. I got the C Copy and DD-5 w/ tap tempo switch. On my practice amp, don't have reverb so I use C C for that if not using for delay. I like reverse and light analog delay together. All kinds of possibilities with these 2 together. Plus bought both used when sellers were anxious to sell. Barely over $100 for both.

    Is it possible to have delays for the purpose of one being a doubler sound a la randy rhoads in the studio but less subtle/ use it as a thickener for the tone, and one for Linda like a subtle analog delay

    • @michaeljenkins9052
      @michaeljenkins9052 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Metal Madness Have you looked into the doubler pedal? If you haven't then theoretically you can achieve the same effect if you have a delay pedal with controllable time and tone (wet/dry). If you run a short time (close to if not shorter than a slap back type of delay) and dryer signal you should get a similar effect

    So when you need to sync to a new tempo, do you change both delays or just do tap tempo for the second and you are good to go?

    • @petemalins
      @petemalins  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      dudeinc10 Well the Carbon Copy has no tap tempo, so you have to set it manually. So I set the DD7 tap tempo first, then try to match the Carbon Copy so it doesn't clash with the DD7

  • @KevinPlaysGuitar
    @KevinPlaysGuitar 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very helpful! Do you sync the tempos together or does not matter?

    • @petemalins

    • @petemalins
      @petemalins  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      mcnae mcnae Yeah that can still sound good if you set them at different times. But it's nice to have analog delay as it tends to blend into the background better

      If you use the delay as colouring to sit behind your notes, they dont require synching to tempo. Andy Timmons is a good example of this.

      2 input is for running the delay stereo. Analog delays relies on one ship, usually only performs one function. Digital delays have different algorithms, hence diferent functions. If you want to know more look into Josh from jhs videos
