  • Stacked delay and dual delay setups don't have to be complicated to sound great. These are my favourite simple and easy dual delay setups that I use from time to time.

    Hey I like your channel. Finally no influencers bullshit and constant marketing and product selling, just a regular guy playing with the sounds and gear with pure love and sharing his thought and discoveries. It feels a bit like being with a friend in a bedroom talking and experimenting with what you've got, not just constantly wanting the next new thing on the market. I hope you continue that route, for the most part, with this channel :)

      Thank you for the kind words! And yes that's exactly the route I intend on continuing on. I'm a bit more interested in exploring and sharing the application of the equipment rather than focusing on the equipment itself. I try to use no frills industry standard equipment for the most part for that reason. Thanks again for the support. More to come!

    Recently re-added my old Donner Yellow Fall in front of the MXR Carbon Copy Mini I replaced it with. Great options, like you, Donner for slap, "long" delay & short repeats, CC Mini for more verby delay, short delay many repeats, icing is the modulation button. Together, they balance each other out & create a cool roomy vibe. 6 knobs, 2 minis, no brains required.

    Great video! Just last week I bought a 2nd delay to be used exclusively as a nearly always on slapback in order to free up my other delay pedal for longer delays.
    I combined the two and it opened up to something more than the sum of the parts and led to hours of experimentation. I didn't realise I'd been hearing these sounds in lots of songs!
    This video is a great resource for these sounds, thanks very much.

      Hey thanks! I don't think I did actually, or if I did have the amps spring reverb on it would have been very minimal. I didn't think it needed it in the end because of the way I was playing but reverb can definitely help mask the repeats into more of a wash if you need it.

    MICHAEL BANFIELD, If you use delays that have an effects loop ports for the Repeats you can use guitar pedals connected in the REPEATS only. IF you stack two delays that both have effects loops you can put guitar pedals like a tremolo pedal and phaser pedal for the REPEATS only. You should make a YT lesson about this.

Listen to pink floyd first album with Syd Barrett and the guitar solo for See Emily Play is using 2 echo units to get those multiple rhythmic stacked slap back reflections effects. Also Robert Fripp made solo albums with Brian Eno uses Sound on sound delays if you have a fender amplifier that has 4 input jacks for 2 channels you can connect the delay pedals to the different fender input jacks to create sound and sound delays to get those Fripptronics sound on sound which you can do a YT lesson about.

    • @MichaelBanfieldGuitar
      @MichaelBanfieldGuitar  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Both the old and new DL4 should be able to do the classic 1/4 + dotted 1/8 delay. Stereo delay mode on the old one (can be run in mono) and the new one has a dedicated dual delay mode that looks promising. I’m not that familiar with the DL4 to be honest but make sure you explore it fully before ditching it, or consider adding another delay pedal with tap tempo along side it, a setup like that could do pretty much anything! Have fun

  • @WhiteWizzard
    @WhiteWizzard 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Cool sounds….that said , I think you can do most of this with a Strymon DIG with the highest audio quality. The 12 bit setting is incredible and the fidelity overall , mixed with its voicing for guitars is unmatched. The dual delays are so musical. Get a Volante next to it and I’ll take that combo over any.

  • @danthegeetarman
    @danthegeetarman 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Cool shootout. Yeah, I heard differences on all too. Preferred the 1992 for all the hi gain stuff for the reasons you mentioned. I like how the 1992 original compresses the mids into a lower frequency range vs the older 6505. I feel like it puts the guitars into a sweet spot come mix time. The older 6505 seems to emphasize an upper mid range that I would probably end up Eqing out in the mix anyways.
