Thank you for this video! Another janky wheel and another truck replaced. Plenty of opportunities for things to go wrong, but you enjoy your job of catching and fixing them. And we enjoy along with you.
At least the repair shop is under cover! Looks like there's plenty to keep them busy Dave. Know how much you enjoy working on the railway but owning one might be a different story 🙂 Stay safe my friend and keep them rolling!
Cool video Dave(in more ways than one).🥶😂 But seriously, I enjoy watching switching operations, and it's the one thing I can just sit and watch a switcher and crew work for hours moving rolling stock around, and building their train. I have always found this aspect of railroading the most interesting and intriguing, watching how they build up a train, and then watch it leave the yard with the actual train crew that takes it out and on its way. My favorite part of railfanning over just watching a train roll by. Always more activity in the switchyards for the most part.
Boy it would be nice to see the company invest in a few new cars or at least send a few off for a rebuild. Having new equipment takes a lot of stress off the workers maintaining them! Many years ago i worked as a maintenance man in a hardwood flooring factory. We did a "remodel" where we replaced equipment from the 40's. I spent more then a year setting on a bucket waiting on something to mess up! It was awesome!
I wanted to say I really enjoy your content, despite not being a huge rail or mining fanboy. I think that says a lot about your great personality and attitude 👍. I do have one small request. Do you think you could start putting the recording date(s) near the top of your descriptions? I know you have quite the backlog, and it would help place the videos in context with other events. Thanks, and have a wonderful day 🙂.
Hey Dave !! Keep going & you'll have ALL the cars in the shop !!! Hope they still can get parts for those cars as AGE is catching up on them for sure !!!🤔🤨 Thanks for the videos & ""KEEP"" ""FREDDY "" nice & warm !! HAHA 🤠😎👍👍👍👍👍
That was some good RXR footage there.. Good snow footage as well. So far this year no snow over here. This is a first since I've been here and I'm not complaining. LOL. 👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣
Did you ever hear or read much about the MKT RR? I would watch their trains as a kid. Never would have thought that one day it would cease to exist. They had a big presence in Denison, Texas. Dad and I fished a lake that was originally built by the MKT for their steam locomotives in Oklahoma. Great crappie fishing. Dad said it was built/dug in the late 1800's entirely with teams of mules pulling dirt scoop pans. Just a tiny community existed there by the lake. No town ever. Not much left as far as the community.
2:43 "O.K #1 ..." Don't you mean A#1, Dave? (ha ha he he). Of course, being a railway-man, you must have seen Emperor of the North - greatest railway movie of all time.
I've got a nice collection of railroad movies, Emperor of the North is awesome, and I really enjoy watching it. But I do think my Favorite train movie is "Unstoppable" with Denzel Washington. Really love the soundtrack and effects in the movie. And catching the one very obvious blooper the movie effects crew messed up on that I caught when I saw it in a theatre. It's when the runaway locomotive hits the horse trailer, and one of the ditch lights gets busted and is now out, but in the very next scene the busted ditch light gets miraculously fixed, and the opposite ditch light is now the busted one, and the broken one is now lit and working. Someone either didn't take note, or remember which light was broken and turned on the wrong one.😂😂😂
@@HolidayDecorator Have you seen "Danger Lights' 1930 movie? I love the beginning front-shot of the locomotive going through the tunnel, and that pounding sound ... ahhhhhhhhhh - glorious! I also like the mustering of engines to respond to the land-slid. The plot itself, though, was a bit lame. I did not feel, however, that 'Unstoppable' was that good. I thought 'Unstoppable' killed it showing the train going around the trestle curve balancing on one side, near the end. - typical modern Hollywood leap from reality.
Dave, at 3:39 in your video, you can see that the valve for the airline to the final car is closed. Would that apply the brakes until the air pressure in the tank of that car drops below the minimum required to apply the brakes? I know rail cars are different then my semi in that they only use air for the application of the brakes.
ive watched many of your videos. your railroad, does it connect to a main line somewhere? if not, how do you get new cars or do you just keep rebuilding them there at the shops
Thank you for this video!

Keeping the guys busy on repairs. Good job catching the brake hanging up. Stay warm out there.
3098! I love to see that locomotive when it's working. Enjoyed the switching action very much, too. Thanks for bringing us along. Stay warm out there!

Great video Dave, the track guage video would be interesting. The truck was missing a pail of Sure Spike.
Just another day on the railroad. Love it Dave, there is always something to do. Be safe and thanks for sharing.

Dave, Great snowy January video. Those hoppers experience a lot of wear and tear, but worth their weight in gold...
There certainly is a lot to maintaining a railroad! It seems that there is seldom a routine day, I can see why you love your job!

We had older track gauges, one had a level in it too. 56.5"
Any video is a good video !!!!

Look bad moving that car having doors down. What if they get down in a joint?
i wonder....does that guy on the other side thats giving directions love his job as much as you do?
How many people does the railroad division have Dave? Including the mechanics.
ive watched many of your videos. your railroad, does it connect to a main line somewhere? if not, how do you get new cars or do you just keep rebuilding them there at the shops
How often do you have to switch out cars to correct problems? 1-2 a week?
So what happened to the missing door??? Is it on the track somewhere or buried in snow?

HAPPY NEW YEAR DAVE.....100 X 40 LB BAGS=1300.00$ SMH.
What type of loco I'd this one? Is it a long nose?
It's an EMD SD 40-2.
A pig in the pond is worth a barrel of switch oil that’s worth a dollar of your time 💵
I know how to use all of them in the back of your truck
A little bit late but Happy New Year Dave
That's for sure at least the wheels are rotating they're just dragging a little probably a shoe adjustment
What is that white stuff oh yeah I think they call it snow😅😂
Are you sure it's snow? Looks like our White Florida Beach Sand to me.😉 😂😂😂
