I'm just nostalgic for the crusty old world of the mid to late 70s, and how beautiful the Northern/Southern tier was in those days. It still is, but it isn't quiet the same as it was in my childhood. Good to here Mike Bednar's voice.
It's somehow both satisfying and saddening to see that F unit choking and smoking in such a rough shape. It's a machine that clearly doesn't have a whole lot left to give, but one that's had quite a service life already. Also a very nice look at the realities of shortline railroading, especially in that era. The trains are short, and rather than turning the locomotive around every time they change direction it spends a good amount of time running backwards and/or pushing the train.
Mike Bednar is alright! He’s a great railroader with decades of real on the job experience in Pennsylvania. I’ve been going through Galeton and Gaines off and on for about 70 years myself, starting as a toddler with my folks. Love the video of the WAG.
Awesome video !
Love those old engines
Nothing more handsome than an F unit.
Yes there is....
2 F-units. :v
And nothing worse to use for local switching
Great nostalgic footage!
It seems like yesterday watching these units run up and down the line !

Awesome!
Never seen an F Unit smoke like an Alco, until today!
Hello how are you doing tonight good evening
Full crew! Wonder why it went out of business.
Floods, business closing did more than anything else.
The video is Great But the narrator is Awful, he sounds like the guy from the Red Green Show. Thanks for the post.
