*Carseat* Important to note that some airlines (Southwest) require the car seat to be airplane compliant. Double check to make sure the car seat has a airplane on the side. The Cosco seat linked on this video IS airplane compliant.
3:46 the car seat has to be in the window seat for safety. If you put the car seat in the middle seat or the isle seat you're blocking people sitting in the window/middle seats from being able to easily get to the isle in case of an emergency. Especially if you have the car seat facing rearward.
Absolutely true! Last flight had a crying kid.. no big deal... my husband and I have both been there... we just be chilling. Our kids are 16 14 14 and 9.
My advice for boarding if you’re more than one adult travelling, let one person board with the older children, car seats, cabin bags etc to set up everything and get it all stowed, leaving the other adult with little kid/s to expend as much energy as possible before boarding last.
Love this video! Very helpful for moms like me. I learned and wanted to share with you to look for a duffle bag that best fits your luggage and has all the wonderful features a bag can have, especially in plane travel use. I'm using Nomad Lane's Bento Bag and it's a good choice!
I'm so happy to help! Love to see an involved dad. I would say it probably would be worth it for an international flight - especially if the car seat allows the child to sleep more comfortably than they would on an airplane seat. I think at that point I'd consider what would be the most comfortable sleeping situation!
We have two kids and are blessed enough to be able to choose our seats. However, some families do not have the money to do so. I would never tell them it’s bad etiquette. That comment comes from a place of privilege. Let’s not shame families who may not be able to fork out the extra cost that comes with choosing. It can get pretty pricey.
My intent wasn’t to shame others who do not have the means to pay for seat assignments. I am fully aware and thankful for the incredible privilege to fly with my kids. But I do still think it’s bad etiquette to expect others to move seats in order to accommodate a family’s wishes to sit together. I’ve seen this a few times. Don’t you think it’s a little unreasonable to ask others to move (who have paid for their seat assignment) to accommodate others? That’s what I was saying. Luckily, I’ve also seen some legislation come through that is making sure minors 13 and under are seated with adults on the same reservation. This has came out since I published my video. Have you seen it? www.transportation.gov/individuals/aviation-consumer-protection/family-seating
Thank you so much for this comment and I hope others see it!! We are flying for the first time ever with our kids (4 and 9) Our trip is due to a wedding and as excited as we are for this adventure, it would hurt our budget greatly for the additional expense of choosing our seats. Thankfully our airline has assigned us our seats together anyway!
I think Airlines should prioritise family sitting together. Families pay way more collectively. No one should ever be shamed. No shade to this video as I’ve been traveling with my kids since my first daughter was 9 months old but my family gets bigger its becoming more stressful. Now 4 kids later and lord help me when getting through a travel day. Some people are very insensitive. Even when traveling with just my hubby, if i see a family paid seat or not I’ll offer to give up my seat. Being a blessing to others is a selfless act. “Bad etiquette” is not offering to help. Please be kind if you see a family offer to carry a bag or let them get in front of you with a baby. Kindness goes a long way.
You don’t have to worry once your young child is placed in between to strangers most people will gladly trade their seat not to have to deal with a crazy kid. Haha
Omg thanks for this video. It was helpful. I will be traveling to Florida in the next few days with two children, 9 and 5 and I'm hoping it's a little breezy. This is our first time and my husband and I are a little stressed about it. So thanks again. 😊
this is the most realistic helpfull video I have seen ever! I appriciate you saying that kids will Not follow schedual on an airplane and we should all lower our expectations.
lol I went to that play place once. But that was bc we had to sleep at the airport. We didnt exactly play there saying as it was 1 am and we were tired
I am flying delta with my toddlers and they didnt let me choose what seats i get. Im very stressed theyll separate us. Im assuming they woont because thats sonunsafe, but what if? Like i said, they disnt even have the option to choose seats.
I have a fifteen year old and a twelve year old and we are going on our first vacation. But they're terrified of the plane. I've tried making them so excited about the things well do but they're still scared. Any tips to help.
You can check it for free with luggage. All airlines will allow you to do it for free. You just have to be okay with it possibly being handled a little rough. It’s essential to have a cover for it (like the car seat backpack I linked), otherwise they just cover it in clear plastic, or nothing at all. Be aware that it can possibly void the warranty of the car seat. That’s not a deal breaker for us. If for some reason the car seat gets damaged, we would just buy a new one to ensure safety of the kiddo. In the 12+ years we’ve been flying with kids, we haven’t had a checked car seat damaged (we always have a cover on it). That’s not to say it won’t happen, just sharing my experience.
We have 5 yr old and want to fly 15 hr flight. But have regretted trying it. Autistic and does not sit still. What do you recommend. Anything available with that.
Can you gate check both the stroller and car seat? And do they hate that big old bag? I’m so worried to travel with the huge car seat bag and stroller with the kids. My son will be one soon 😳
hi! You can check a car seat for free. The stroller is also gate checked for free. It's recommended not to check your car seat though, since it can be so easily damaged like luggage, which wouldn't keep your kid safe.
No! We don't typically bring ID for the kids when we fly domestically. When they were under two, sometimes they will ask for ID. We used to make copies of birth certificates and have them on hand just in case!
Girl I wouldn’t waste energy on these comments. Thanks for the tips! My wife and I are taking our 4 kids to France this Tuesday!!! They’re so excited!!!
*Carseat* Important to note that some airlines (Southwest) require the car seat to be airplane compliant. Double check to make sure the car seat has a airplane on the side. The Cosco seat linked on this video IS airplane compliant.
Great note!! Luckily the car seats I have linked do fit this requirement.
"We are just trying to SURVIVE!!!!!!!" Moms! Remember that, and good luck to us all!
My kids are flying for the first time next month! We're very excited, but also nervous. So thanks for all this info!
Love how real you are about all of this! Much appreciated 🙏

Thank you for pointing that out!

This is the best tips in traveling with kids, very straight forward. Thank you

YES! This is a GREAT tip! We've done this before and it really helps!
This is precise and concise, and fun to watch! Well done.
Great vid but extra appreciation for the heartwarming words towards the end. Thank you.
She said survived 👏 me with my first fly and my 3 year old
Great video! Thanks for the time stamps. That's very thoughtful.
Great video! Thank you so much for sharing those tips 🙏🏾 I’m traveling with a 7 year old soon. Does she need any car or booster seat? Thanks
I really appreciated these! It's nice to hear the honest side from a parent with experience flying.
Such a great video and thank you!

As a dad, I appreciate a diaper change table in men’s room. Nice video. Is car seat still a good idea on international flight 10+ hours?

Love this!
Lol, " I've been once with my one kid" 😂 I do wonder that when watching videos. Haha
Moving to Alaska in July and we have a 10,9 and 2 year old and super nervous it will be our first time flying ever.
Have you taken any international trips? Do you have tips specific for international travel?
this is the most realistic helpfull video I have seen ever! I appriciate you saying that kids will Not follow schedual on an airplane and we should all lower our expectations.

made that mistake..crayons..legos..tray.. the horror of picking it up on the airplane floor!
I have a fifteen year old and a twelve year old and we are going on our first vacation. But they're terrified of the plane. I've tried making them so excited about the things well do but they're still scared. Any tips to help.
I love it
Can’t wait to take you on more trips!
Ty mommy!
What do you do with an actual car seat you need at your designation? Everyone talks about stroller gate check but do you gate check the car seats too?
You can check it for free with luggage. All airlines will allow you to do it for free. You just have to be okay with it possibly being handled a little rough. @@Meg_O thank you! I’m nervous traveling with my 2yr old and trying to prepare. So I’d have to gate check both my stroller and car seat 😅
You’ve got this!!
Thank you for the update
We have 5 yr old and want to fly 15 hr flight. But have regretted trying it. Autistic and does not sit still. What do you recommend. Anything available with that.
Do you have any recommendations for cruising with kids?
I have a Disney cruise packing video up on my channel! But I can certainly work on a general cruising video
Can you gate check both the stroller and car seat? And do they hate that big old bag? I’m so worried to travel with the huge car seat bag and stroller with the kids. My son will be one soon 😳

@@amber6977 Thank you so much for the tips!
I 'm going to Japan have any tips on me Meg O ?
I also give my kids Dramamine chewables for the ears to not pop.
The car seat likely needs to be in a window seat to ensure that people can freely exit in case of an emergency.
You are correct!! I did not mention that, but that is 100% true.
Do you need a passport for your children for flying domestic?
No! We don't typically bring ID for the kids when we fly domestically. When they were under two, sometimes they will ask for ID. We used to make copies of birth certificates and have them on hand just in case!
I flew domestically with a passport because we already had it and it made things easier
I don’t think your advice would apply for 20+ hours of international flight. Domestic wife I mean flight
Yeah, I said that in the video.... don't understand the shade here.
Girl I wouldn’t waste energy on these comments. Thanks for the tips! My wife and I are taking our 4 kids to France this Tuesday!!! They’re so excited!!!
I like her
