Another great thing to know: Brühl Mitte is only served by the cologne metro. So you need to go to another entrance to find the plattform (Follow the Blue signs with the letter „U“ on them, take the escalator and you can find ticket machines for the metro aswell as a service center) You can generally take all trains with the number 18 heading to Bonn Hauptbahnhof, Bornheim and Schwandorf. Trains in direction of Thielenbruch or Buchheim are the wrong direction.
That's really helpful- thank you. We'll be arriving in Cologne and I was trying to figure out after we grab dinner, how exactly to proceed from there to Bruhl Mitte. Via Google maps I'd kind of figured it was the 18 train, but this confirmation is a big relief. Now I just to make sure we get one headed in the proper direction.
This is a great series, can’t wait for the rest I think this will make it much easier for those of us who want to get out to Europe and beyond to try some amazing rides.
Hey maybe this was mentioned somewhere but as far as best time to visit is concerned; DEFINETLY IN WINTER!!! They have a awesome winter special in December, its really awesome how they decorate everything and there are literally like 0 crowds. I was there on sunday-monday and paid 180 euros for 2 persons for a stay on site at Matamba, breakfast and park entrace for 2 days (!) - the biggest wait we had was at Taron for like 10 minutes, for almost all other attractions it was a straight walk-on; its a far better experience as you don't feel rushed to go stand in the next line and can actually take your time to drink a coffee or something and feel the atmosphere of the park Yes, its cold, but if you are dressed appropriately its not a problem even on Taron. Oh, and if you are lucky enough to see snow, it really makes the place look even prettier
Thank you so much Shawn. I think lots of people needed this video. Not just to help us plan trips but to also fill us with hope that these trips will be possible sooner rather than later and give us something to look forward to in such dark times 🌈🌈🌈

What a fantastic series this is Shawn! Even though I live close to the park, I have seen the multiple possibilities of travel! I am already looking forward to the video about Europa-Park! Greetings😀
Nice to see these travel guides return, I remember using your Europa Park travel vlog a few years back and pretty much copied the exact route you took. Also used your 'How to travel to some of the best theme parks in Europe' video quite a few times, very useful info!
This series is a spectacular idea, particularly because we've been planning a 2022 Phantasialand trip! Very helpful information for the inexperienced travellers (like ourselves) 😁
Thanks for the info in these guides - it was really useful when I went to visit Cologne with my other half a couple of weeks ago (stunning city, especially with the Christmas Markets!) We went to Phantasia Land for the first time and decided to go all-in and stay a night in Hotel Charles Lindbergh - a must-do if the opportunity arises, and not as crazy as expensive as it first seems when you factor in the included park tickets and food! Wintertraum at Phantasialand was absolutely amazing - they had literally shipped in piles of real snow and had it all around the park - madness. But best of all, everything was not only walk-on, but STAY-ON (except F.L.Y.). The ride ops were great and were allowing people to stay on as long as there wasn't anyone waiting at their gate - we had 3!! rides in a row on Taron without having to re-walk the queue - so good. Every ride on Black Mamba was front row and the "wait" for Taron's front row was 2-3 trains max both days! So so glad we went and your guide was definitely a deciding factor! They have some utterly incredible rides - we just need to go back in the summer for the rapids! We're planning a trip to Europa Park next year alongside a stay in Basel - again having watched your guide - so thanks again. Looking forward to more! Cheers, and I hope you both have a good Christmas!
This is my current biggest bucket list park and I'm finally getting the chance to go there in March of next year along a Europe road trip we are going on
Good video. Transportation break down was good. Hotel info was good. Personal experience and recommendations was good. Keep these videos coming! Looking forward to Europa, PortAventura, and more.
This series of videos are amazing. This summer I’m going to both Phantasialand and Energylandia this summer from the states and these videos are so helpful.
Thank you for making this video! Ever since seeing your video review of fly and that new area I’ve been wanting to plan a trip to phantasialand and now you’ve helped make it super easy! Can’t wait to see your other videos!
This is a great video sries idea od you. liked this one a lot and can't wait for the next ones! I hope you will also make some of the UK parks, since I am not from the UK and want to visit them in the future.
I went in August 2018 for a long weekend!! I booked my flights with British airways from London Heathrow and paid £84 return as a solo traveller that was a steal!! I travelled hand luggage only and had no issues!! I flew into Düsseldorf airport where my best friend picked me up (she lives out in Germany so it takes costs down) and I stayed with her too!! We had 2 days at the park, paid €47.50 each and got 2 days out of that due to a summer deal they had on!! An absolute bargain Because she doesn’t do some of the bigger rides, both days I paid €20 for 4 quick passes for some of the bigger rides which I made the most of!! I got to ride the tram network in her local city which was awesome and we found a fantastic burger place for dinner on the Saturday night!! The Sunday we had a home cooked meal and the Monday we did cave and had a McDonald’s!! My top tips 1) if you want to ride river quest head straight there first, we did that on the Sunday and I was on the first boat of the day...yes I got absolutely soaked! 2) Raik/Taron has a single rider queue and I made the most of it!! The first ride on Raik we rode together (I’m so proud of my friend) 3) plan your shows and rides throughout!! I brought a load of merch and loved it!! Decent and fair price for what I wanted!! And finally if you’re doing the hotel themed fun house then make sure you untie your laces before going down the finale slide....made that mistake day 1 and learnt from it!!
I was lucky enough to go there in 2016. I actually had no idea what was there as I wasn’t updated on theme parks much back then. The logo looked kind of cheesy to me which lowered my expectations but oh my goodness it’s a world class park. Absolutely amazing theming, scenery and use of space for how enclosed the park is. Despite being corned by residential areas, the park still felt like it was miles away from civilisation and as if it was the most open place I had ever been. I would absolutely love to go back so much. Great video Shawn!
Finally getting to some more TPW vlogs after saving them up for a weekend off! And since the German theme parks and Germany as a country are my top European destination at the moment (the history, the castles, the countryside and the people who are lovely) I was really looking forward to this series, Shawn and Charlotte. It was always in my mind to puzzle out how best to do the main parks in a single road trip (which is an adventure in that even at 44 I’ve not driven abroad yet, amazingly!) but the main thing I took from this video was definitely to not rush a location. Köln is a beautiful city by the look of things and you could easily do a cracking autumn or winter trip for 3-4 days just to Phantasialand. A road trip would be great but why rush things? Also, whilst I am no fan of Ryanair whatsoever (and I know that price is the one redeeming feature of them) the advice about Skyscanner is a great idea. Half the fun is in the planning, right?! I already have a Michelin map for Germany and it has been awesome just poring over the country, realising how huge and varied it is. And I need at least three nights in Phantasialand as I want to try Matamba and CL. Steampunk is THE best theme! Great stuff as always S&C. Stay well :) x

Great video, I am staying there soon, do you know if there is a separate queue for rides if you are staying onsite , as in a fast pass , or are all day guests and hotel guests in the one queue
Now this is a series I’m excited for! I’m so ready for another travel day. I’d love to hear your perspective on a Tokyo trip and an LA trip as these are high up on my list right now ☺️
Ask the cousin to drive you there. Such a fab theme park that I've been visiting over the last 20 years... and now I feel officially old XD Thank you for a great video - just makes me want to go visit the family and have a day in the theme park.
Great info. I made a mistake on the ticket to Brühl by only buying a Cologne zone ticket, I was confronted by the transport police on the way back to Cologne who boarded the train and let me away with a warning because my German was no good! Just a warning to everyone that the officials do board the trains randomly in groups and challenge everyone on board!!
The park can actually get quit crowded with around 90 min wait times for Taron. Try to avoid german and dutch holidays and school breaks. Also Cologne Zoo and the chocolate Museum are worth a visit.
Great insight there! I'd definitely not only go to the park, but explore the country as well. That cathedral in Bruhl is huge, I'd definitely see that. I'd also like to see that castle that I can't even spell it, but it sits up on top of a mountain. Then visit stomping grounds of my ancestors that lived in Bavaria and Rhineland.
Guten tag Shawn lovely vid I'm thinking about may June time now you said bday free day I might do that spend a week would it be easy to Europa park in a week as well

Now this is a series I’m excited for! I’m so ready for another travel day. I’d love to hear your perspective on a Tokyo trip and an LA trip as these are high up on my list right now ☺️
Thanks for your suggestions Amy!
I'm planning on a big Europe trip this year and I'll go to theme parks such as this one!
That sounds great!
@@ThemeParkWorldwide yeah, It's gonna be awesome!
@@ThemeParkWorldwide also I agree with you that there should be a new ride in the trauma towers spot at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, I see an enterprise
This is a fantastic idea for a series!
Hopefully it’ll help many people plan trips in the future!
This is so useful!! Love the intro. Thanks Shawn
Thank you Immie! Hopefully it helps you plan future trips!
Ask the cousin to drive you there. Such a fab theme park that I've been visiting over the last 20 years... and now I feel officially old XD Thank you for a great video - just makes me want to go visit the family and have a day in the theme park.
Thanks for watching!
I can’t wait to get back to this park!
It’s a fantastic park with epic theming!
Thank you for this! Hoping to get to Phantasialand from the States once COVID is over and it's safe to travel again!
It’s a fantastic park that I’m sure you’ll enjoy!
Great video and keep up the good work
Thank you!
Take a shot everytime Shawn says fantastic hahah
Thanks for sharing your experience with us all. Glad to hear that you didn’t have to pay a fine!
Taron is awesome so is fly great park
It certainly is a fantastic park with some epic rides!
YES! More of these!!
More on the way!
Great new video series! Some tips like when riding attractions during the day to avoid crowds would be great as well if you have some advices.
The park can actually get quit crowded with around 90 min wait times for Taron. Try to avoid german and dutch holidays and school breaks.
Also Cologne Zoo and the chocolate Museum are worth a visit.
Thanks for your suggestions!
Great guide! I was just curious if you have a good link to buy the train tickets from the airport to cologne and then to Bruhl?
We use the DB website
Some great travel tips looks an incredible park 🙂👍
It certainly is a fantastic theme park to visit!
@@ThemeParkWorldwide my nearest park is pleasurewood hills do you think theyll add any new additions any time soon ?
I’ve been waiting for videos like this thank you 😊
Hopefully they help you plan future trips!

Thank you, they’ll be many more on the way!
Brilliant idea for a video, super useful!
Thank you. They’ll be many more on the way!
Please can you do one for Europa Park, my Christmas present was a trip there when covid is better so it would be extremely helpful :)
It’ll be on the way soon!
It’s definitely worth visiting the city of Cologne. It’s absolutely stunning!
@@ThemeParkWorldwide Oh, I'm sure! I love looking at pictures of different countries and their cities, it would be even better seeing them in person.
Guten tag Shawn lovely vid I'm thinking about may June time now you said bday free day I might do that spend a week would it be easy to Europa park in a week as well
That sounds like a great trip!
