  • Lloyd's obsession with Titanic began with a library book, Robert Ballard's The Discovery of the Titanic. He borrowed it so many times, the librarian asked him to stop checking it out so that other children might enjoy reading it.
Seeing James Cameron's Titanic at the age of ten sealed the deal. Lloyd has lived in the UK and been host of the early morning TV show in New Zealand he now reports for stuff.co.nz. He's now a dyed in the wool Titaniac.

Why it hits me is because you cant imagine knowing you will probably die and there is nothing you can do about it. Just sit and wait That is so sad to me.

The Titanic must be the most famous ship because she unfortunately was not able to finish her maiden voyage

I'm tickled pink to see you adorning your brooch! A small drop in the ocean (see what I did there?) in comparison to what you have given me my dear! 🥰

It was never called the ship of dreams in its day, there was no sales literature or posters saying this. Like most myths it was made up for the James Cameron film. The Titanic was like many others a passenger ship in a very crowded market, it just happened to become a disaster that shocked the world. There is so much myth created around Titanic.
