In this 283rd podcast episode of Dave Tate's Table Talk, Jeremy Hamilton takes a seat.
Jeremy Hamilton was a competitive powerlifter from 2007 to 2016. Hamilton competed worldwide and is a former all-time world record holder in the 220-pound weight class (raw with wraps) with a 2123-pound total. He also totaled 2017 lbs at 220 lbs (raw), which at the time of doing it was the third-highest raw total of all time in the weight class. Hamilton was voted Powerlifter of the Year in 2015 by Powerliftingwatch.com.
He still holds the highest raw male dots in Canada and the highest Canadian total in raw and raw with wraps in the 220-pound weight class.
Over the years, Hamilton has given back to the strength community through his many TH-cam instructional videos and seminars in Canada, the United States, and Australia. He has also done lectures at the University of Toronto for the school’s strength athletes.
Hamilton is the owner of Fortis West, a strength gym in Toronto, Canada.

    This one was phenomenal.
I love the training talk and the meet progression chat. But most of all, Jeremy asking questions back to Dave, made this such an intriguing chat.
Please bring him back in the future 💪💪

I agree. Most guests don't ask Dave anything. Which is unfortunate because he's just as much a fountain of knowledge as his guests.
      With great anecdotes!

    A bone to pick:
how are paused deadlifts a fad?
While discussing fads you brought up rpe as a fad but went back on it because you said it’s been around for 10 years or so. While scrolling through instagram after I finished listening, I seen a reaction to an old video of Pete rubish doing a paused deadlift. So that got me curious, and I TH-cam searched and found paused deadlifts videos from all sorts of people going back as far as 12 years ago.
I enjoyed the podcast as always, probably my favourite one to listen to at work. I look forward to the next one

I started lifting in 2004, much later than these guys, and to me something that started in 2012 and rose to prominence years later feels faddish. It’s just about relative perspective.

Not only that, but going back to ACTUAL old school days it was quite common to do movements as slow and controlled as possible.

Deadlifted 405 his first time? Strongest guy every where he went while natty and under 200 pounds?
Yeah, exact opposite of my experience lmaoo.
    Couldn’t deadlift even 135

Man i loved to watch the raw unity meets on TH-cam years ago. My favorite era of raw lifting. Hamilton was the man to beat back then.

The funniest part is the guys who look like they're on gear when they're not, often hop on gear anyway and get even more yacked. So the "elite natty" gene pool thins out superficially.
As a young natty I was obsessed with getting strong and staying clean. Constant gear accusations. Eventually hopped on only using a little here and there. Now its constant Tren accusations.
Can't catch a break, who cares who is on what substance. Just lift goddamnit!

'If it ain't broke don't fix it' is the STUPIDEST trope when it comes to lifting/training without question, as if you should wait until an injury/break occurs before you fix it!? LOL!

Some of the most vivid memories of watching this guy in middle school drag ridiculous weights with a fuckload of chains. It’s like walking into your grandmas house and the smell bringing back memories. Hearing his voice again is pretty kickass
