How Farms Work by Ryan Kuster is a TH-cam channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin.
Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like.
These videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us and we look to educate the world on many essential agriculture topics.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.
Need a flat bed trailer now for big Red.
They aren't really in the hay business. I think this was more a favor to Hannah's family than anything else. Not really worth the investment in a flat bed for the big truck.
If they were I think a low boy would be way more useful for them

A gooseneck ball on big red would work for now. Then you have enough power and stopping power for whatever you put on the trailer. Baby steps.

If your friend got 350k miles on that transmission he shouldn't be too upset, they don't last forever and he definitely got his money's worth out of it. Have fun at the show with Brian!

Dunno if it was ever explained, but corn fodder briefly skyrocketed in price early December 2019 here in SW WI. The fall again had been wet, so fodder wasn't getting baled. Then snow came late October. Anyone who had animals and needed fodder for bedding went into a bit of a panic. Rounds of fodder of any quality were selling over $70 at local hay sales. Snow melted and a LOT of fodder was made in the last half of December. I made 300 5.5x4 rounds for two neighbors. Now there's a glut. Had he made and sold those squares in October, he'd have easily gotten double. I watch the market reports, and the hay auction north of him supposedly didn't sell a single fodder bale on Wednesday. They have a very large quantity on hand.
Just an explanation for those who commented that $25 a bale doesn't make much profit... It doesn't, but supply and demand is very fickle.

Seem pretty good to me for over 300k. I have seen Allisons go down too with less mileage.
That’s why I run a 6 spd. I know it’s not immune to problems, but it handles power better than built autos do.

I would have to say that was the most polite way of saying factory Dodge transmissions sock. Now I am a Dodge Cummins owner. And I know that to be true. That being said they all break they all have problems.good video 👍👍👍😁

Most wheeled skid steers anymore with 2-speed go around 12-13 mph

It probably would be more economical to use Big Red.
Hay prices in Australia are at $80-$94 usd per round bale big difference when theres a drought on.

My overload springs are always hitting my stops on my work truck. 2017 Chevy 3500. had 3 yards of gravel in my bed then hooked up to a 24k rated trailer and loaded up some materials. Couple days later I decided to dump out the gravel and it was frozen 🤷♂️ lol. Had to get the backhoe and break it up. At 52k miles I have a injector going out and my battery’s are about junk already. Truck barley wants to start on Monday even tho I have it plugged in. I’m from Evansville Wisconsin

Need to get a load trail gooseneck well worth the investment I didn’t think I would ever need one but it ended up replacing my bale hauler which was great because I’d rather be nice and comfortable in my truck haha
Very lucky it didn't start a fire friend of mine lost a pick up to a trans blowing oil out of the dipstick tube started a fire. And temp gauge for a trans in any auto pickup is a good idea good video
Your friend was lucky enough to get that many miles out of the dodge dually transmission they are very weak , not like the Duramax and Allison Transmission. Good video 👍👌

Love your truck. It’s one marque I’ve Norma driven yet whilst over there. We always tend to grab a RAM 1500 from the rental at MCO airport. Shame they don’t have 3500 duallies lol.
The JCB looked naked w/o something on it's front end.
At $300 for 16 bales it hardly seems worth it considering the energy and manpower and expense to bale them. But cash is cash.
A lot of miles for little reward for the fodder tour of Wisc. . More important enjoy the NFES, Louisville, KY during the meet and greets.

Speaking from personal experience, some of the older Dodge's had a check valve in the transmission cooler that were notorious for sticking closed and would cause one to do exactly what you described...needless to say that ended my relationship with Dodge Trucks, mine was a 2001 model!
If it's a dodge cummins with 350,000 miles on it its probably on its 5th transmission

we bought a 2000 dodge ram 1500 months ago and the only issues it has is staffing where it staff's up to I believe only 2 gears so its ever a bad rebuilt on the transmission or a bad sensor which umm thinking its a bad sensor somewhere under nff the truck. but you can go back road speeds with it just not highway speeds with it. lol
they rebuilted the transmission (automation)on the truck before we bought it so I don't know if they just didn't put it back together right or what.

The Denali doesn't have power tow mirrors? WOW!
I saw a transmission overheat one time and saw the evidence of the fluid blowing out of the vent tube. On top of the tube there was supposed to be a vent cap, that was completely gone or melted, it was nowhere to be found. The top of the hose was near the battery and the fluid when it boiled out was so hot it melted a groove about a foot long in the plastic of the battery case. The vehicle was all wheel drive and by what the car manufacturer says, it should not be flat towed and I'm pretty sure that's what happened.

@@jackrountree9437 i dont recall the name of it but it was i think a year a go last fall, she was leaving to go to school some were think out of the country, i could be wrong but she went some place far. they were both in the video... but there been talk that that was they way of putting it outt here but really split up.. thats why all the remarks about the intern. yup intern,, others have videos up talking about the intern and Ryan, but its just talk, nothing to back it

Actually Ryan you have different types of tracks. You have mud tracks and you have a snow tracks. Mud tracks are useless on snow or ice.
