I have to say, you guys handled the "goose chase travel option" waaaayyy better than I would have. That would have been a "See John make grown men cry" moment.
I actually loved this video even tho it didn't go your way. When your dad was on the phone at the end it gave me goose bumps! Can't wait for the next one.
Sorry it didn't work out, but you definitely made a good call on passing it up. A lot of people would probably just settle and buy it not wanting to admit they drove all that way for nothing. Would've been a problem tractor and nothing is worse than trying to fix electrical problems. Definitely looking forward to the next video now! God bless - Everett
Makes you glad you walked away from the one you drove hours to see. Imagine you hadn’t walked away and then a much better deal surfaces just down the road. 🥴
My guess is the lights were cut because it was getting hot in the fuse box and blowing fuses because of a short. I've seen that in multiple 7000 series tractors. My 7810 fuse box actually melted and filled the cab with smoke about 2 minutes after turning the field lights on, it was because of dry rotted wires.
Grew up farming and fixing a lot of equipment. A large number of the southern tractors I’ve dealt with live outside in the beating sun hence dry rot. Most northern tractors seem to get shedded. Not hard and fast but personal observation.
Hutson Ag at Clinton is our dealer! We also haul all of our wheat, soybeans, and a lot of our corn to Burgess Bros. right across the street! Neat to see you were in our neck of the woods!
Well it seemed that dad was coming home with either a tractor or a tractor deal, one way or another. Good you guys took a good look at that 7830 beast before sinking your teeth and hard earned money into it. Good time spent with dad and brother. It's all good. 👍🏽🤠 2/13/23
Ryan, Cairo was severely damaged in the flood of 2008 and again in 2011. The corp of engineers, I think, refused to put back some of the levies that protected the area. it’s been downhill ever since.
Yes Cairo did get affected by some floods over the years. But when that happened the whole area Alexander, Pulaski, and Union counties were all flooded. The comment about the Corps of Engineers not reinstalling the levies is false. Cairo is entirely protected by levies. The problem isn't floods it's the broken liberal policies. Crime is terrible there, big time welfare and government checks being collected. It's little south Chicago. Just a shame because it's geographical location where the Ohio and Mississippi meet is perfect for ports and a lot of innovation.
Hey Ryan, Travis, and Dwight welcome to my home State of Ky. That was a bummer about the tractor but it sounds like you guys maybe getting a better one close to home. Yes western Ky suffered some horrible tornado damage in December of 2021 and so did Bowling Green in South Central Ky close to where I live. Yep not much left of Cario Illinois from the flood damage that they had 😢.
i like to go to Minnesota and buy equipment there. Seems like they always got good looking equipment and yes i bought a bean head from a dealer that was still in the farmers shed sight unseen and was very happy with it
I'm sorry but it's a good thing you didn't buy the 4960 if you were worried about dry rot on wires and foam. Not everyone can afford a shed. Our 4850 has sat outside all its life with us ( last 15 years ) and we taken care of the best we could and keep it in the best condition possible. Just because it's dirty and old doesn't make it necessarily junk
Travis has a good gut instinct... if it doesn't seem right, walk away from it. Doesn't hurt to keep searching, take a good look at it and compare it to the next ones. Dad and I went on a long trip to pick up a self-propelled swather in Canada... long story short we backed out of it and went home empty. I'll be waiting to see what you bought,.
Looks like the twin bridges in the corner of Illinois. Drove over them a lot over the years. My dad and his buddies had a car die in the middle of those bridges and had to shove it off it the middle of the night
You were all around my neighborhood, I am sure you were aware all that tree damage you saw along I69 was from the Dec tornado that went through Mayfield. Pictures cannot show the amount of destruction that did. Sorry you made the trip for nothing, but it’s a shared experience with you dad and brother and therefore priceless.
Yeah you guys definitely dodged a bullet on that tractor it looked rough and wouldn’t fit in with your guys beautiful line of equipment. A bad start with a happy ending is always a good thing. Congrats Dwight on the 7920, glad it all worked out in your guys favor!!!
many reasons not to buy it...and it basicly no worklights (how its parked there) so really get why you guy didnt buy it...I would not either...cant wait for the reveal tomorrow!:)
That kind of service and communication from those multi location corporate dealerships makes me so glad john deere forced out all those mom and pop single location dealers.
Hey Ryan I just viewed the video missing tractor just wanted to give you a shout I’m from Clinton. Ky and wanted to to tell ya in case you didn’t know that a tornado did go through our area in Dec 2021 and destroyed the John Deere store in Mayfield Ky it’s on you tube.
awsome video ryan that tracter wood of bin good to fix up but at the same time it wood cost you more than what the tracter is worth probaly better off to go new thumbs up and shared
Doesn’t matter to me what you buy don’t think it’s the 4960 I think it’s probably the 7920 but what ever it is the old boy looks happy!Congrats on the purchase lads and I’m guessing the 4640 now has an easier life
I think I know the previous owner and I agree it was used as a beater and y’all should look up Milford ky Hutson tornado and see the store that was damaged
So what was the town of Cairo for? My life as a child and younger man was always close to the Ohio River, and its navigable tributaries. I am no expert on Cairo, but it was an anchor to so many events and conversations growing up. Cairo was indeed a transportation hub when the river was the only reliable network. This was prior to the interstate highways and consolidation of the railroads. Most of Cairo's recent issues has been directly related to statewide politics and costs of doing business.
Hey Dad, Ryan and Travis. Ryan please be careful in all the travaling this month. I pray this tractor is in very good shape. Take care, Take it Easy and Trust JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cairo, Illinois was one of many southern Illinois towns that had most the local businesses and jobs leave in the late 80’s early 90’s. With most the government officials coming from Chicago. Southern Illinois was basically forgotten and left to rot. Most residents move to Kentucky and Tennessee to follow the jobs, and not have to pay Illinois high taxes. Cairo was going down hill long before the 2015 floods. The flood was just the final nail in the coffin.
A good tractor is only expensive the day you have to write the cheque, from then on it's an asset. Conversely a bad one may be cheaper too buy but it will break both your heart and the bank with down time and repairs. It's not your first rodeo, if your gut says no walk away and find one that you feel good about. :)
HEY Ryan !!!! It's Mike Here AHAHAHAHAHA Thanks for the 'Field Trip' guys. Ryan, I have an Assignment for You while at the NFMS. Look for the GIANTS Booth for Farm Sim and look for a Guy with the Last name of Klein. I need a Photo of Him LOL. Thanks Mike M Wausau. Anxiously waiting for part 2..
Quality family time on the road trip, Dwight seemed pretty happy at the end.
His happiness almost makes me lean away from the 79. ..... still going newer rather than older.
@@larrybe2900 I was thinking the same
A road trip with your dad and your brother is never a bust.
I have to say, you guys handled the "goose chase travel option" waaaayyy better than I would have. That would have been a "See John make grown men cry" moment.
Looks like luck was on your side towards the end of the road trip great to see your dad happy
Big smiles on dad. Excited to see the new tractor. Good stuff

The face from your dad is soooo Great !!!! That's a very proud man !!! congratzzzzz !!!!
Oh man that 7830 was looking rough, probably 14900 hrs on it not 4900 hrs. Congrats to your dads new 7920. He looked so proud in the end. 😁
Hey Ryan!! Isn't that always the way it goes? Drive hours to look at something and it's junk then find there's one down the road lol 😆
Makes you glad you walked away from the one you drove hours to see. Imagine you hadn’t walked away and then a much better deal surfaces just down the road. 🥴
@@Greg_Gatsby Ya when Travis started it I was like that doesn't sound good. Pretty rough for a tractor with low hours.
Great family time. I laughed at you all on the comments about what you were going to hit first. 🤣
Pretty sure it's gonna be the 7920! Glad you guys were finally able to get another tractor bought to help out the farm.

Should all be torn down, put back into farm use or solar city.

how you like western KY lol right across the border from me in TN
What did the dealership have to say , with your findings?
We have a 7830 nothing but problems with electrical outlets n it
I'm willing to say that 7830 came from that sugar cane farm in Florida they apparently have about 500 tractors!

looks like you was on interstate 57 did you probably drove by the sesser exit good ol southern il lol

I mean if they are looking for something to pull the planter with the 7920 makes way more sense, more remotes and it's probably guidance ready 🤷♂️
Such exciting times! I just sold my house, I would have preferred to have bought a tractor 🇺🇸🇺🇸
I’d have been proper racked off upon arrival and it not being there. 😨😨🇬🇧🇺🇸
