How ULTRAKILL Speedrunners Crushed the Double Bosses of Prelude (A World Record History)
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 31 พ.ค. 2024
- Notes:
- There are other double boss fights in this game, this is just the first of "one of the only". These are also special Cerberi, as they have noticeably more health than normal ones, and they are also physically larger. (It's true! Spawn a normal Cerberus in this room and see!)
- Yes, the plural for specifically 2 is "Cerberi". If you had more than that (3+) it would be, in fact, "Cerberuses" (Greek is a weird language).
- I shorten Cerberus to "Cerb" a few times. I harbor no resentment or ill-will towards Serbians or "Serbs", regardless of what the auto-generated subtitles may imply.
- Yes, the actual name for shotgun spam tech is "duck boosting". This was agreed upon seriously by top runners. I dare not question it.
Errata (ft. BGB and Travis):
- Railcoins were not "discovered" later they just were not in the game. cabal had found them before the game went into early access (he has access to the beta version) and hakita had patched them out before Early Access started but BGB had gotten hakita to add them back
- Travis did discover coin adding later but mixing those two is confusing so the sentence at 16:16 could have been worded better
- CJ is not the first person to use a railcoin to hit both cerbs in 0-5, as both BGB and pot had been doing the strat behind the pedestal in any% since September (CJ's run was in November) so that was more of a carry over of a strat from any% rather than a discovery of a new thing. He was also the second person to do coin adding in a run. Travis actually did it first in 0-3.
- Locked had discovered and named dives back in the early demo days but slam slides and momentum slides were not a thing during that time (they were added with EA) so no one used them. it wasn't until BGB discovered slam storage could be used to benefit both the forward and upward speed of a dive that it began to be called USJ and dives were more recognized as useful tech.

How speedrunners KILLED two people
35:53 ough
thank you for your sacrifice
That zoomies pact was such a great sportsmanship. It should always be like that.
I thought you were done with ultrakill videos. How happy i am that you made a new speedrun analysis can not be described
5:30 I just found out about this video. Being in one of those "wr progression" vids feels funny because it's the only thing I've ever speedran. I deleted the videos of the runs on accident when I deleted everything on there trying to get rid of old "cringe" stuff on my channel.
From what I remember the run had an very fast boss kill followed up with a bit of sloppy movement on the doors which is why i didn't get the sub 29.
7:54 I was very unhappy about that change (even though it was better for the entire game) cuz it ruined the simplicity of 0:5 I really enjoyed in the previous versions so I quit.
I absolutely love how Hakita took the very first theme he made for the game, a very simple loop that played endlessly, and just- gave it a slowed down, more intense Amen Break for the very first boss of the game. Absolutely genius !!
It's third boss. In front of the Cerberus, there was a malicious face and a swordsmachine.
(Sorry for my English)
@@user-yh7ry7uu9othose are minibosses
this is the collin ego video
Imagine 2 people coming in, telling you that the only reason why you didnt get a better time was a slight error in how you jumped
This is why I love speedrunning
I myself did some high difficulty speedruns of the game as of late, offline mind you, and its been super fun to just get another milisecond out of the game to get to better strats
This really makes me curious on how many non-boss levels have been improved over time.
you may soon find out :)

Big shoutouts to sicknova and tirednova for showing up in the doc and helping with voiceover
Cerberus: YOU, HAVE, UNO.

Chocolate Cake
¾ cup (170 g) of unsalted butter, softened
¾ cup (94 g) of unsweetened cocoa powder
¾ cup (90 g) of flour
¼ tsp (1 g) of salt
½ tsp (3 g) of baking powder
1 cup (225 g) of granulated sugar
3 eggs, room temperature
1 teaspoon (4.9 mL) of vanilla extract
1⁄2 cup (120 mL) of buttermilk or sour cream
Step 1 Gather your ingredients.1
Gather your ingredients. This decadent chocolate cake recipe requires dry and wet ingredients. For the dry ingredients, you’ll need ¾ cup (94 g) of unsweetened cocoa powder, ¾ cup (150 g) of all-purpose flour, ¼ tsp (1 g) of salt, and ½ tsp (3 g) of baking powder. For the wet ingredients, gather 3 eggs, 1 teaspoon (4.9 mL) of vanilla extract, 1 cup (100 g) of sugar, and 1⁄2 cup (120 mL) of buttermilk.
If you don’t have buttermilk, substitute with sour cream for a denser and richer flavor.
The wet ingredients in cake recipes generally have moisture. Sugar is often listed as a wet ingredient, too, even though it isn't actually wet.
Step 2 Preheat the oven to 340 °F (171 °C) and grease your cake pan.
2
Preheat the oven to 340 °F (171 °C) and grease your cake pan. Use a round, square, loaf, or bundt cake pan for this recipe-the choice is up to you! Rub the inside of the pan with butter, and then sprinkle a layer of flour on top. Tap the excess flour into the trash, and turn on the oven.
For a quicker alternative, mist the pan with a cake spray (a cooking spray with butter and flour in it).
Step 3 Mix the wet ingredients in a large bowl.
3
Mix the wet ingredients in a large bowl. Place the softened butter, eggs, vanilla extract, sugar, and buttermilk in a large bowl. Use a hand or stand mixer to blend the ingredients until their combined.
Always follow the instructions on the temperature of your butter when baking a cake. If you use melted butter where softened butter is called for, the cake could come out flat.[6]
Soften your butter ahead of time by placing it on the kitchen counter a few hours before you start baking.
Step 4 Mix the dry ingredients in a separate bowl.
4
Mix the dry ingredients in a separate bowl. Sift the flour, salt, cocoa powder, and baking powder into a small bowl. Whisk them together with a spoon, whisk, or fork until they’re well combined.
Step 5 Add the dry mixture to the wet mixture in increments.
5
Add the dry mixture to the wet mixture in increments. Pour ¼ of the dry combined ingredients into the wet mixture. Then, use your hand or stand mixer to mix them together. Once everything’s combined, add another ¼ of the dry mixture to the batter. Repeat until all of the dry mixture is added.
Mix until no flour pieces are left in the batter.
Do your best to avoid overmixing your cake batter, as this could make your cake denser and gummier.
Step 6 Pour the batter into the cake pan.
6
Pour the batter into the cake pan. Guide the batter out of the bowl and into the pan with a spatula, making sure to scrape the sides of the bowl, so no batter is left behind. Smooth out the top of the cake with the back of your spatula.
Step 7 Bake the cake for 30 minutes.
7
Bake the cake for 30 minutes. Put the pan in the middle of your oven’s bottom rack, and set the time for 30 minutes. Check on your cake at the 25-minute mark to make sure it’s not overbaking. Slide a toothpick into the center of the cake to see if it’s done. If the toothpick comes out clean, it’s ready; if the toothpick has batter on it, bake for a few more minutes and try again.
Check the cake’s progress periodically through the oven window rather than opening the oven door. This ensures that the heat stays in the oven as long as possible.
Try placing your cake pan on top of a baking sheet just in case the batter spills over.
Step 8 Take the cake out of the oven and let it cool.
8
Take the cake out of the oven and let it cool. Set the cake pan on a cooling rack and let it rest for about 10 minutes before handling it.[9] If you try to remove a hot cake from a pan before it’s cool, it may crack and fall apart.
Step 9 Take the cake out of the pan and put it on a plate if you’d like.
9
Take the cake out of the pan and put it on a plate if you’d like. With oven mitts, flip the cake pan over on top of the cooling rack or a plate to release the cake. If the cake is stuck, tap on the bottom of the pan or use a butter knife to help slide it out.
Step 10 Let the cake cool completely before frosting it.
10
Let the cake cool completely before frosting it. If you try to add frosting to a cake while it's warm, the frosting will melt and run off the sides. Leave the cake alone for a few hours, or place it in the freezer to speed up the cooling process.
Make a chocolate frosting to coat your cake in for a rich dessert, or whip up a vanilla buttercream to complement the decadent chocolate cake.
To help traditional American buttercream stick to a cake, whip it and make it smooth.
Start with room temperature butter. Otherwise, the buttercream may be stiff. It may be hard to put it on the cake. It will fall from one place to another.
Put the buttercream in a warm place. Take a big pot with some hot water and set the buttercream on top of it to melt the butter slightly. The consistency of the buttercream should be light and fluffy. If the buttercream is stiff, it will not stick and look chunky. It will not be shiny.
Wtf
Thanks for the recipe.
Misunderstood. Just killed every denizen in hell.

Yesss, I'm glad you're still making these, I love watching speedrun history breakdowns and watching them about Ultrakill since it's one of my favorite games and I've speedran the game a bit (never to the level of these people though), so I mostly know what's going on. Very cool, hope to see more from you in the future!!

This is such a great video! It's so cool to see documentaries on such a modern, fast-paced and heavily-active game. A lot of online speedrunning content focuses on older, much longer runs, and it's very cool to see records that are made within hours of each other. I love this game, and learning about this aspect of the community is very cool -- I might even try to get a run (very low) on the leaderboard myself some day.
Also, your editing has gotten a lot better! The music is well-chosen and not repetitive, and it's helpful to always have footage that corresponds to what youre saying. You've got some great explanations of tech, and the footage makes them even clearer.
I love your speedrunning history videos. This game's speedrunning history manages to be consistently so interesting to hear about, and you're quite the storyteller. Another banger from darknova.
You’re one of the few youtubers who gets my like as soon as I open the video. Without having to watch a single second I already know it’s gonna be a banger. Congrats, and happy new year :)
I was thinking that tye change to Freezeframe rockets would change the stratagy that would be used in this stage/any other stages that use rocket traps but after watching this it might just make it a more consistent speedrun? Cause I didn't know that the Cerberi were off yye ground for like, a frame when spawning lol.
Anyways amazing video and amazing job to the runners who ran this stage! Also glad to see you back again Nova! Fantastic video as always!
Pretty sure that change was specifically to make strats like this consistent (and provides some extra gameplay consideration for Freezeframe too)
(speedrunners asked a dev)
I tried to get red explosions on spawning Cerbs without Freezecharge and it didn't seem to work
@@queckquack6298Okay nito! That's pretty cool of the devs to make a change like that with speedruners in mind. Especially considering that it seems they patched out enemies being able to get a red explosion on spawn.
Also thank you for responding! I love your content and what you do for the community!
