@@jbfox100 Not trying to be a dick here but that is not actually the case. Billy divorced his first wife in 1982 and Paul Simon suggested that the Caribbean island of St. Bart's would be a good place to get away from things for a while. Christie Brinkley, Elle Macpherson and a then unknown 16-year-old Whitney Houston were also there on a modelling photoshoot. By the time of the Uptown Girl video, Billy and Christie were already dating and many of the songs he wrote for the An Innocent Man album that Uptown Girl appears on were inspired by her. They then married in 1985.
An Innocent Man. Honesty. Only The Good Die Young. It's Still Rock And Roll. Big Shot. Allentown. Billy Joel has so many great songs. Amazing song writer and piano player.
@@kbrewski1 That is not actually true, they were already dating at the time of the video and had previously met earlier on the Caribbean island of St Bart's.
Goodbye Siagon is tough subject matter, but great song and emotional video. Veterans he knew told him their story and asked him to write it. In concert he has a group of vets sing along.
"We Didn't Start the Fire" and "For the Longest Time" are two of his bigger hits with good videos. "Downeaster Alexa" is easily my favorite song of his, though.
The uptown girl in this video is Christie Brinkley. At the time she in Billy Joel married to each other. They have a daughter that now tours with her father. And sings with him on stage.
I followed you over from Black Pegasus' cha nel. I always enjoy your reactions with him! ALL Billy Joel's videos are top notch, he puts quality in everything he does. And he actually did get his Uptown Girl, he married Christy Brinkley (one of the supermodels of the time) and she can be seen in some of his other videos. I think the video for "A Matter of Trust" is one your videographer's spiritl will really appreciate.

New York State Of Mind should be your next reaction. Just a little trivia… Billy Joel not only can play the piano very well. He also plays the harmonica, very well.
LOOOVE your reaction 😂🥰. Billy is actually a legitimate composer. He has recently finally come back to singing after retiring from his singing career to return to classical composing quite a few years ago 😁😁🇦🇺🐨🇦🇺
You should check out "Matter of Trust". It was shot as an impromptu street scene, surprising a whole lot of New Yorkers in 1985 (I think - maybe 1986). Billy set up a rehearsal session in a street-level loft down by St. Mark's Place; opened the windows and his camera crew videographed the reactions of hundreds of people as they realized Billy Joel and his band were there playing. It's a fun video, a great time capsule of Lower East Side NYC, mid-1980s.
I love River of Dreams, both the song and the video. Takes you to church! We Didn't Start The Fire is an amazing song, but I think watching a lyric video would be better than watching the official video because it's important to catch all the rapid-fire lyrics, but the video distracts you -- a lot -- from the lyrics. Not that the video is bad, but it is hard to pay attention to both because the lyrical content is very dense. You vould go back later to watch the video. Two other good ones are Goodnight Saigon, and Allentown.
Billy literally did get the girl. The "uptown girl" is SI swimsuit model Christy Brinkley, who also had a few movie roles like in Vacation with Chevy Chase. Billy married Christy a few years after this video came out.
I literally just saw you on Black Pegasus, and I was like oh I wonder if I have to wait and then your video popped up! Definitely want to see We didn't Start the Fire, For the Longest Time, Allentown, Tell her about it, River of Dreams! so many great ones from Billy!
Glad you hopped right on this after enjoying Piano Man with @blackpegasus. Billy was highly influence by the 50-60s do-wop and Frankie Valli type music. Billy did get himself an uptown girl in Super Model Christie Brinkley.
Billy Joel wrote it for his then girlfriend the supermodel Elle McPherson, but in the video you see the supermodel Christie Brinkley who he was married to. Billy Has had his share of Uptown Girls.
Just watched the Piano man reaction on Black Pegasus channel with you. Allen town is one of my favorites by Billy Joel. He has a bunch of great music. Great reaction! ❤🙏
"Tell Her About It" is another great video. It has a prologue before the song starts and something else at the end. It also has an appearance by comedian Rodney Dangerfield.
I followed you over from Black Pegasus 😊 I am all for a deeper dive into Billy Joel music videos. One thing you gotta remember is that the music video as an art form didn't really solidify until the early '80s and the MTV generation. In the '70s, any "promo" footage was pretty much just filming a performance and dubbing the studio track over it. But Billy always kept up with the times and when the '80s came around, he stepped it up with his videos. The video that you saw for Piano Man was done in the '80s but the song was originally from 1973. I think his best video work came out of the Innocent Man album, which Uptown Girl was from. The Longest Time, Keepin' the Faith, and Tell Her About It are all stellar and so much fun. I think you'll also enjoy We Didn't Start the Fire from 1989, and River of Dreams from 1993. Anyway, you'll have a lot to choose from!
"The longest time", "We didn't start the fire" and "An Innocent Man" are one my forever playlist, I'll never get tired of listenting to them. For the second one I would suggest to turn on subtitles. And maybe after listening some background info becaue that's not your usual song.
Even though Piano Man came out in 1973. The video for that song wasn’t made until 1985. To go along with the release of Billy Joel’s first greatest hits package.

The Uptown girl is the super model Kristy Brinkley (probably misspelled) who was his wife at the time. There is a billboard that shown in intro and exit for "Cosmetics" with her in it. He was doing a tribute of Frankie Valley and other doo whop musicians of 1950's and 1960's.

Unfortunately, I don't think there are music videos for many of his best songs because they were written in the 1970s.
