    I think practicing "baby-step" actions like these every time to build muscle memory is a super-helpful idea. Thank you for the guidance, George!

      @@THE-RIVER-RAT Thanks and thanks for the tip, George! Tomorrow is also trash day here, so I should have plenty of room for it! (That said, I plan to hold on to the shipping box for at least the 30-day return period, just in case something is amiss.)

    I am experienced canoe paddler, and I took kayak lessons last year, and as of yesterday, I received my Pakayak bluefin 142, reason I bought was I don’t have garage so I want something that would be easier to store in home. I will practicing on some ponds later this week.

      @@THE-RIVER-RAT . I bought some H2 glue and another set of hip pads. I cut the high part of Pakayak hip pad. Put two coats of H2 glue and put some H2 glue on back of new hip pad and then stuck them together. I also glued Velcro piece in proper place on kayak, to hold hip pad in proper place for my hip. I will test tomorrow night to confirm that it contacts my hip properly on each side.

    Really good that you're sharing info about bracing George! Funny with the people on shore 😂 Now about the Itiwit X500, I have one and it's objectively true that it's nicely wide, but in all fairness, that probably comes from all the ice cream that's digested during my summer paddles in it!

      @THE-RIVER-RAT  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      lol I never knew you had an X500 Hehe Wish I still had mine ! Don't get me wrong I love the PakAyaK but with what's going on at the moment it's driving me crazy and costings me money, in fact because of the problems I have just had to spend another £350 on a car roof box...
      PakAyaK are meant to call me today (again) so hopefully I will have the problems sported soon and I can tell you all about it. But I'm not saying anything as yet because I want to be fer to them and give them this (ONE LAST CHANCE)
      But I know you and others will be shocked when I tell you what has gone on.

      @@THE-RIVER-RAT Yeah, I've been real discreet about having an X500 😂 At least yours is in safe Irish hands now and being put to good use. Sorry to hear about the Pakayak troubles, hope it works out soon.

    Also when you paddle, don't just use your arms. You will fatigue quickly which isn't good if you have to respond fast in a tricky situation.
    Make sure that as you paddle, you turn your abdominal area slightly with each paddle. Consider your torso a rubber band that will bounce back to original position. Just incorporate those muscles to help you not get fatigued.

    • @THE-RIVER-RAT
      @THE-RIVER-RAT  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree torso rotation is very important for paddling. However, I didn't cover that in the video as I have mentioned it from time to time before in other videos, and this one was really just about learning to balance for a new paddlers.

    • @THE-RIVER-RAT
      @THE-RIVER-RAT  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes However, I manage it by using a kayak trolley to get it to and from the water, then just slide it in. But as I'm getting on a bit in years the weight is a problem. But PakAyaK, have now brought out a lighter version.
