Imagine if you just walked into the break room and saw him shoving stuff into his mouth and your like what the hell and he looks over at you and is like shit holds up creamer in front f his face and runs out of the room
This one would be cool to put in the SCP game(s). Imagine trying to get through a door to escape SCP-173, only to hear a faint wheezing and see a message at the bottom of the screen saying *You attempt to open the door but are overwhelmed with fear of what may be on the other side* and then 173 kills you.
I know! He'd would be great, but I'm afraid the blocking will ruin the flow in the game. I've seen a many games "ruined" because an impossible blockage factor was added, especially since most SCP games include linear hallways and dead-ends
he should be allowes to appear only on rooms with at least 3 accessible doors, possibly larger ones (like the one SCP 106 drops a dead body) and go away as soon as the player goes through one of the other doors. That way if chased it will ruin your planned escape, but will stil allow you to survive if you can deal with what is chasing you a little longer. It would force you to change path, not lock you up. And if backtracking, a good way to remove the threat would be simply to leave all doors open.
Somehow that isn't as bad as what I got think two way hallway 106's portal on the floor 049 chasing you and in front is 173 I had to escape into the fucking pocket diminsion of 106 to surivie just before blinking or getting tapped let's just say that was a hard play through. On the up hand I came out right where I needed to be next to a medi-kit.

It's possible that it covets things that others are looking for, so it takes whatever someone else is trying to get. When someone wants 'to go through a door' the SCP 'takes' that by refusing their passage.
It's different from what I was thinking but it's also very much similar to my thoughts. Watch this for years ago in the world through all the comments I can probably find it. But I'm rewatching it and I saw your comment. And I figured I'd just say that I'm basically in agreement with you
Series 1, and a bit of series 2 portrayed the Foundation as excessively malevolent, killing D-Class off left and right for really any reason the researchers and security wanted. Then the Ethics Committee was founded, and from that point forward, things started to calm down. That shit with the combat knife likely wouldn't slide in today's Foundation.
The SCP Foundation's online database goes back to January 2008. The Ethics Committee was not properly established until October of 2011, after over a year of discussion. Here's the thread that ultimately resulted in its formation. www.scp-wiki.net/forum/t-259327/ethics-committee
I have a feeling the SCP just likes scaring the hell out of people and if someone is actually brave enough to face it, it won't do anything except stand there, or teleport away. They just need someone uberbrave to guard it. Also, maybe replace all but one of the doors in the facility with clear doors, so they can more easily direct where they want it.
Well, that's one way of getting coffee creamer. Imagine that tho, just opening a cabinet to see a dude in the fetal position... "I was getting coffee creamer"
The Foundation could always try putting a D-class on a Forklift with the brakelines cut and a good run-up. Sure, 303 might turn off the motor temporarily, but if they could get it up to speed, that'd definitely get the door opened.
Theory: 303 is a scientist who's trying to develop a cure for his condition, or at least something to counteract the fear he instills so that he can communicate with the Foundation. The chemicals he stole he all seem to relate to the production of neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin. Most of the other stuff he took appears to have been medical equipment, and note that he specifically stole _research_ cadavers, as if he was fully aware they were meant to be experimented on. He might actually have been a human who worked for the Foundation until something anomalous happened to him. That would explain why he never leaves that particular site.
These reports are always formatted so well. I recommended a brother in law to listen to them. Granted, it was also to help him get ideas to run games for people. Still, fantastic work.

I really don't like the overwhelming theme of [DATA EXPUNGED], I mean, sure it makes sense lore wise or whatever, but I think it really detracts from the sense of mystery rather than adds to it. Because, well, there's nothing to really wonder except "hmm, I wonder what that guy said. I guess I'll never know." instead of "hmm, I wonder why he said that." or "hmm, I wonder why or how scp___ does that.". I dunno, just doesn't really seem to make the story that much better to have half of the information removed and leaving you without anything much to even think about.

"Heard you were talking shit and you thought I wouldn't hear it"
I wonder...
What if the actual scp is the doorway that manifests, and opening it leads to a portal to a terrible other world, and the doorman is simply guarding it?

I really don't like the overwhelming theme of [DATA EXPUNGED], I mean, sure it makes sense lore wise or whatever, but I think it really detracts from the sense of mystery rather than adds to it. Because, well, there's nothing to really wonder except "hmm, I wonder what that guy said. I guess I'll never know." instead of "hmm, I wonder why he said that." or "hmm, I wonder why or how scp___ does that.". I dunno, just doesn't really seem to make the story that much better to have half of the information removed and leaving you without anything much to even think about.
That's why some people write their scps without redacted text
Totally agree. At first it adds to the fright factor, but after a while, and after they start withholding too much info, it just gets annoying.
