    He may be right that prohibition of homosexuality is related to only 2 of 613 commandments. He forgot to tell that these are also two of very few that are sanctioned with death penalty.

    I dont think that all parents love their children unconditionally. There are plenty of parents who abandon their children, dont feed them, sell them to perverts or just dont care about their kids.

    I've had a lot of people lust after me, and here's what. It wasn't enough. I want to be loved. Lust is important, and being IN love includes the lustful desire- but it's deeper because it includes love. I want love, Rabi. I don't need to be "chosen," it is I who will choose. This guy is just giving an opinion, it's not fact. Although, I agree with some of what he says.

      “I don’t need to be ‘chosen’, it is I who will choose”.
      The point is the two people choose each other, you’re both refuting his point and supporting it, and it seems the side you pick depends on whether or not you feel you came to it yourself, so if you already agree with it then you agree, and if have to COME to agree with it you wont, regardless of its value AND how it is already supporting your position. Being taught doesn’t mean you’re stupid, letting information pass over your head out of pride does.

    For a marriage to succeed, it must survive the occasions when at least one mate feels that it 'just isn't working out'. Moreover, successful marriage is vital to the survival of civilisation. Therefore, it must, by and large, be rendered impossible to end a marriage, except for the rare instances when circumstances truly require it. Perhaps, in theory, this could be effected by non-governmental social pressure in a healthy society (e.g., by threat of ostracism). Practically speaking, however, the coercive power of government is required.

    Marriage is compromise. If you can't work any alternative options to contentious issues with another person then don't commit. It is a contract at end of a day for a reason.

    This man is an Orthodox Jew. Yet @ 8:20 he takes the Name of the LORD his God in vain, which is surprising, & something that he is commanded not to do. Ex 20/7. God Almighty is in Hebrew, El Shaddai. It should never be used as an expletive. I'm a Christian, & it pains me that the holy Name of the Saviour of the world, & my Lord, is used so frequently as an expletive that it's become part of the vernacular.

    The importance of *WATER* in The Holy Bible. 1) Exodus 19 Verse 9: The Lord said to Moses, "I will come to you in a thick *CLOUD* (WATER), so that the people will hear me speaking with you and will believe you from now on."
    2) Exodus 13 Verse 21: During the day the Lord went in front of them in a pillar of *CLOUD* (WATER) to show them the way, and during the night he went in front of them in a pillar of *FIRE* (HYDROGEN is FLAMMABLE) to give them light, so that they could travel night and day.
    3) Deuteronomy 28 Verse 12: The Lord will send *RAIN* (WATER) in season from His rich storehouse in the sky and bless all your work.
    4) 2 Esdras 6 Verse 17: When the angel Uriel said this to the Jewish Prophet Ezra, Ezra stood up and listened, "I heard a voice that sounded like a roaring *RIVER* (WATER)." It said, "The Time has near when I will come to judge the people living on Earth."
    5) Matthew 17 Verse 5: The Transfiguration: While Peter was talking, a shining *CLOUD* (WATER) came over them, and a voice from the CLOUD (WATER) said, "This is my own dear Son, with whom I AM pleased- listen to Him!".
    6) John 19 Verse 34: One of the soldiers, however, plunged his spear into JESUS' side, and at once BLOOD and *WATER* (HOLY SPIRIT of YAHWEH) poured out.
    7) 1 John 5 Verses 6 to 12: The Witness about Jesus Christ: Jesus Christ is the one who came with the WATER of his baptism and the BLOOD of his death. He came not only with the WATER, but with both the WATER and the BLOOD. And the Spirit himself testifies that this is True, because the Spirit is Truth. There are three (3) witnesses; the Spirit, the WATER, and the BLOOD; and all three give the same testimony. We believe man's testimony; but God's testimony is much stronger, and he has given this testimony about his Son. So whoever Believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his own heart; but whoever does not Believe God, has made him out to be a liar, because he has not Believed what God has said about his Son. The testimony is this: God has given us eternal life, and this life has it's source in his Son. Whoever has the Son has this life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. 8) Revelation 1 Verse 7 and 8: Look!, He is coming on the *CLOUDS* (WATER). Everyone will see Him, including those who pierced Him. All peoples on Earth will mourn over Him. So shall it be!
    I AM the first and the last, the alpha and omega," says the Lord God Almighty, who is, who was, and who is to come.

    I think that parents do choose their kids, to choose to work, to choose to feed, nurture bathe, and provide a roof over their head to choose a come back home at night, all that is a choice each moment we all have a choice because either parents choose the kids or reject the kids it's the kids that don't have a choice...

      very true. there is a story in the news this week where a mother abandoned her 6 kids. chose to leave 4 of them alone to starve. Chose to allow her boyfriend to viciously beat all of them. and chose to allow the boyfriend to beat one of her children to death. and she chose not to prevent any of it.

    Could you please confirm that the Jews are Gods chosen people and what transpired for the almighty to make this choice. Do you think it went something like this: God looks down at his creations and says to himself "I've done some good work, but I went over the top with these lookers here; love em most". What you think? Plausible or nutty? Thank you in advance

    Given that marriage pre-dates Abrahamic religions, why should they claim ownership of it? It's fundamentally a secular exercise. People generally want the rights of marriage, and at least in the U.K civil marriages with an absence of religion are popular. The only reason people choose a Church wedding when they are atheists is due to the prettiness of the location. Given the amount of money that Churches have stolen from the masses over history, it's no surprise that they tend to be very nice buildings in nice locations!

    • @craigtitusfitness2249

    • @Jason.Desouza

    • @Jason.Desouza
      @Jason.Desouza 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Ghostdini Stark They're one in the same. What you have to remember is effectively that marriage is a contract between two parties, it's existed in many forms, and pre-dates Christianity.

    • @craigtitusfitness2249
      @craigtitusfitness2249 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jason Desouza No they're not. Religious groups often go against the consensus of their followers.
      Marriage in the western world is of Christian origin, along with almost every single other institution we have. Also civil marriage is not at all popular. When it was introduced in the UK, around 1/5 of 1% of the population took part in it.

    I dont follow his argument that civil union is better than marriage. it is the same commitment and same heartbreak when it goes south. so he is just proposing that city hall is better than a house of worship ? The state is going to recognize it anyway you do it so they can tax it.

    To be ignorant of what it means to 'beg the question' when speaking at the Oxford Union is simply inexcusable, because lack of knowledge of such fundamental concepts in the theory of logic mustn't be tolerated at the world's most prestigious debating society.

    • @jakenorman5371
      @jakenorman5371 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +hikelfin It's clear that you understand as little as the good Rabbi, by the obvious similarity in how the two of you grasp the situation.

    • @jakenorman5371
      @jakenorman5371 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +hikelfin Well, firstly you're wrong on the substantive point; there's no 'feasible' alternative interpretation of 'begging the question' or 'to beg the question' or however you choose to compose it. It means what it means which is an informal logical fallacy similar to but not identical with circular reasoning. There's a common misuse of the term which translates to 'which leads one to ask' but that's all it is; misuse.
      Secondly and more importantly, you missed the fact that both of my posts have, themselves, been examples of begging the question, which demonstrates that you're as blind to irony you are to the laws of logic. Of course I don't have to tell you, lacking an understanding of irony is much worse than failing to grasp logic, due to the self-evident superiority of humour over reason.

    This guy is nuts. He thinks you need a deity to feel special or selected? Seriously?
    He thinks it's about being uniquely selected? It's a legal contract. It's about money and resources.
    He's right about whether or not religious institutions should be able to enforce their ideas about marriage onto others. He's right about gay marriage.
