I am just learning to crochet, thank you for this lesson on edges, I was a bit frustrated at the look of my edges and was about to give up. A big thank you for sharing, its always the little things. I am from Australia by the way.🤗
Shout out from the USA. Thank you Bella Coco, your tutorials are very helpful. It helps me too improve my crochet stitches. I have not crocheted in 7 yrs., as my skills have become "rusty." Your British english is very good. I like your accent.
Thank you Bella Coco for all the tips and tutorials. I'm learning so much from you. Really appreciate the time and effort you put into your tutorials. Be Blessed!
This is great. I’ve crocheted for decades and this is by far the best straight edge I’ve seen and now use. It was easy to adapt / adjust to other size stitches. Thank you.
Wow. I'm so thrilled with your tips and techniques. I am a beginner and struggling to keep the edges straights . This has been a success. Thank you so much .
I love your videos. The yarn is always silky so I can clearly see the stitches. Your voice is calming. And I can follow along so easily. Thank you for having such clear and concise videos. You have helped me along my journey of teaching myself to crochet.
Great. Thank you. Concise, succinct, and well structured. The best of these videos that I have seen so far about keeping a straight edge in crochet. Great, also, to see the comparison between the two other methods sometimes suggested. Thanks again.
Wow! Thank you so much! I am crocheting some simple scarves in double crochet (UK treble) and I can't get over how much better the sides look by using this wonderful tip!! Again, many thanks! :)
I've been looking at so many techniques for a straight edge tonight and was just about ready to call it a night, then I saw your name ... I knew it had to be good. This is excellent, completely solved my side issues. Thank You so much!!
This is, by far, the best technique for the elimination of those annoying gaps. Easy and consistency of execution is almost guaranteed. Some methods proposed out there are downright ridiculous. Thank YOU, Sarah-Jayne, for another outstanding tutorial!
I’ve been searching a while for this! I was having the same irritation with my work because they always looked like the first two swatches you showed. Thanks a bunch!!
WOW!! What a great idea!!! You are so talented!!! Love it!!! I've been crocheting for over 50 years and this is genius!!! Wish I could have known about it when I started crocheting!!! I'll make sure my granddaughter learns from you!!! Thank you so much for sharing!!! Please take care and stay safe and healthy!!!
I'm a fairly new subscriber and I love how you actually show how it's done!! And I'm so excited about this technique. I just finished a large lapgan for a friends son. But I will be using this little trick on my next project! Thanks so much!!
OMG, thank you so much for that great tip, it’s genious to keep from making those side gaps, now I will start the row with (2) single crochets (US), then subsequent double crochet. Your brilliant, thanks for sharing
Thankyou for explaining the edges as I have tried following other egs with other ones on here on youtube and your explanation of crotcheting straight edges is spot on .
Thank you, I found and tried this edging for the first time today I crocheted a baby coat and the finish was so much better than any I've done before and so easy to do.
Wow. This is a game changer! I wish I had seen this before making all my Christmas presents. Going to use this from now on! You are a great instructor. Thank you.
Great technique to keep the work tidy and neat, I too thought it would be nice to get the sides straight and without any gaps, will definately be using this stitch in future when building stitches and work, thanks Sarah-Jane, great tip !
Okay I am in debt like forever to you! I have been crocheting since I was EIGHT! (I'm 21 now, 22 on september 30) and I have NEVER been able to get edges straight like this...I followed along and did about 5 or 6 rows and HOLY CRAP it works!!! You have saved me many hours of headaches
I have recently been experimenting with different techniques to solve that "hole in the end" problem that worked so-so. THIS, however is the answer !! There are certain projects I don't want to have to edge or finish off to create that straight side and now this is the solution. THANK YOU.
I'm currently working on a set of placemats using this stitch. The first one I completed last night. Yes, it had a messy look to it (gaps and lumpy edges). I ended up putting a simple border around it. I will definitely use this new tip/technique with the others! Thank you so much! ❤
You've explained this so well. I always had trouble with the edges. From now on I will do this method. And it's true that doing the first row as a UK double crochet does make the work neater. Thank you so much. You solved my mystery xxxxx
Thank you Bella, it worked perfectly. I have always avoided making scarves because I hated the way the edges came out. Keep up the beautiful & creative work.
Sarah-jayne, how much do I love you. I am now crocheting my first throw (as we speak). I just love love love your edges. Up until I saw your video, I was crocheting the dreaded rainbow. Oh my goodness, you Sarah-Jayne, can teach an old dog new tricks. Great tutorial. Thank you so much for sharing your craft. Love and kisses Sherie.
Thank you so much Sarah-Jayne!!! I know this video has been posted almost a year ago but it helped me quite a bit on an ear warmer/headband I am working on right now! It is the first project I have crocheted using a pattern (all of my other projects have been recreations of what you have made in your videos). I was confused when I found gaps on the ends of my rows of treble crochet but using this technique, they are gone!
Thank you so much. This is what I have struggled with and did'nt want to give up. So many tutorials skip this stage so I felt alone with the difficulty.
Wow! thank you. Mine were coming out like the middle swatch, not terrible, but wobbling edges like you were saying and I'd just do a little border which would hide it. Now I can do it either way. Thank you so much!
Thank you for this great tutorial. I am most certainly going to try this technique. I have done a dc in the chain stitch to close the gap and it works too but it bulks out the edge a bit as you've shown here in the second swatch. I have saved many of your stitch tutorials. Thank you for sharing with us 🇿🇦
Hi Sarah Jayne, welcome back!!! Missed you lots. Hope you had a lovely holiday and you and baby girl are ok. Thank you for the tutorial, I'm going to try this on my next blanket. Xxxx
Thank you so much Ma'am,I have recently started learning Crochet as an hobby,I find it really relaxing, your videos are the best gift for it..:)- From India
Hi Sarah Jayne, you are brilliant! You have answered few questions I had and I thank you so much. Hope you are going well with your pregnancy, enjoy. 😁
Wow! This is so easy! I tried another technique to get straight edges and found it confusing and more difficult. I'm self taught in both crochet & knitting, and haven't created anything very difficult in either one. Even so, after 4+ decades of making relatively simple projects, I can finally add this finishing touch to any future crochet project I decide to make. As long as I remembered to translate the English to American terminology, it was smooth sailing. Thank you so much for this video! I look forward to discovering what else I can learn from your repertoire of knowledge.
Your tutorials are amazing and were how I learnt how to crochet as I always used to struggle but now I have no problems so a big big thank you your amazing! Xx
The trick is a slight amount of Tunisian crochet. I've been been using this technique to make my bikini tie strings all along! Never thought to use it to make straighter edges LOL . THANK YOU Bella!
What a simple but wonderful tip. Now my crocheted edges will be more even. Thanks ever so much! By the way, do you have a similar tip for knitting edges?
New subscriber here! Bella Coco, I have always liked your videos! I just decided to search the topic of turning your work clockwise vs counter clockwise, and came across this video. Thanks for sharing this - an extra bonus for me! I will sample this technique, and can see myself using it in the future! I am sort of picky about my work, and anything to make it look more precise, is up my alley. If anyone would be willing to share any of their own tips about which way you turn your work, I would appreciate hearing them. I don't know if you can change how your turn your work, depending on the stitch used in the upcoming row (?). I need to experiment. Thanks everyone!

Ms.Bella, Thank you so very much for teaching this foundation turn! It has solved my uneven and gappy crocheting!
Great. Thank you. Concise, succinct, and well structured. The best of these videos that I have seen so far about keeping a straight edge in crochet. Great, also, to see the comparison between the two other methods sometimes suggested. Thanks again.

thank you for taking the time to do this video from your busy time right now. I have 2 boys so I know how tired you must be feeling. take care
Where has this technique been all my life??? Such a joy to work and to see straight sides. And so much easier to count stitches with it. Thank you :)
You are very welcome :)

Thank you so much for your tutorial.....I've searched for a while to find a technique I understand and this was the one! Keep the videos coming!
Well done! I will use this technique from now on. Very happy with the results.
Of all the methods shown to substitute something for the chain-3 beginning double crochet, this is the easiest and works the best too! Thank you!
Thank you, I found and tried this edging for the first time today I crocheted a baby coat and the finish was so much better than any I've done before and so easy to do.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I have been having a terrible time making straight edges. This will make my work look sooooooo much better.
Great tip
